05 Oct 08 00:00 - What time is it?
The game time displayed on the top left of the page is one hour late for some people - seems to be related to daylight savings time kicking in in Australia this morning.. It seems that this time display problem is isolated to people in Australia. As I write this news item, the FTP time being displayed is 1:57, but it is actually 2:57. I'm trying to find a fix for the problem and will post an update if/when I find a fix. Apologies in advance for any confusion this may cause. FTP-ashario EDIT: 3:21. Well, wouldnt you know it. Half an hour after I posted the news item it seems to have magically sorted itself out.
02 Oct 08 00:00 - Versions 82 & 83 released
This week has seen the rollout of two new game updates. Highlights include: 1. Match Engine: Farming the strike When a senior batsman is batting with a tailender, he will now often attempt to protect the tailender's wicket by farming the strike. This feature is initially implemented in friendly matches only. 2. Match Engine: Those pesky tailenders! Batsmen with high technique relative to their batting skill (ie tech a few levels higher than batting) will receive less benefit from their 'surplus technique', and will be _slightly_ easier to dismiss. 3. Match Engine: Runouts Runouts will be more likely to occur towards the end of an innings (eg as we get closer to the 50 over mark in a senior one day match, or the 20 over mark in a Twenty20 match). 4. Allrounder training changes Batting and bowling will train slightly faster for players on allrounder training. Technique will train slightly slower. 5. Challenges Managers can challenge other teams at the challenged team's home ground. Matches will begin at the default starting time for the home team. 6. New Feature: Reveal player skills By default, other managers cannot see the skills of players from your team unless you have listed them on the transfer market. You now have the option of making your player skills visible to everyone via the 'Reveal Skills' button on the player details page. Full details regarding version 82 can be found in this forum post. Full details regarding version 83 can be found in this forum post.
21 Sep 08 23:30 - Friendlies flip flop
In what must surely rank as the most short lived feature in the game's history, the decision to make Nat players on tour unavailable for Thursday friendly matches has been reversed. FTP-ashario was last seen stumbling out of a local bakery clutching a brown paper bag, rumoured to contain a rather large helping of humble pie. Mmmm pie.
21 Sep 08 06:00 - Mentoring program for new players
We appreciate that many newcomers to the game may feel a bit lost at the beginning! To help you get started, members of the FTP community have graciously and voluntarily organized a 'mentoring program' where you can get help from experienced players willing to share their insights into the game. You can find more information about this program as well as a list of mentors by going to this thread in the game forums (use the same username and password to login to the forums as you do in the game). If you're interested in having someone show you the ropes, please post in the thread and a mentor will be allocated.
21 Sep 08 00:00 - Version 80: Receive training updates via email
Version 80 sees the introduction of a new feature allowing managers to be informed of training reports via email. Updates are sent immediately following the completion of the youth and seniors training updates. This can be a useful features for managers who are unable to connect to the game website when the training occurs (perhaps your work or school firewall disallows access to the game), or for those who will be away from their PC and want to be immediately informed of skill 'pops' and 'plops' via email delivered to their mobile phone perhaps. Use of this new feature costs 1 game credit per week. Go to the My Club -> Senior Training -> Subscribe page for further details.
16 Sep 08 00:00 - Nats off to a Rocky Start!
Update 21-Sep: This bug should now be fixed in time for next week's Nat matches. Competitive international fixtures began this week, and lurking in the shadows were a few bugs. Fatigue for international matches is supposed to be separate from club fatigue. Unfortunately, a switch I was meant to turn on to enable this in the match engine stubbornly remains inactive, so club fatigue levels were applied for the first matches that were played on Monday. My apologies for this bug. As I'm away this week I'm unable to fix the bug until the weekend. Given that club fatigue of Nat players will continue to drop this week as players recover club fatigue and are not playing club matches, the bug should at least have much less effect for the Wednesday and Friday matches. On the bright side (there is one?), hopefully the bugs that are identified in this, our very first round of Nat matches, should be fixed over the weekend in time for the Senior Nat matches being played next week. Thanks for your patience, and many thanks to the Admin team for taking the heat for me this week! FTP-ashario
