Match Engine: Reduced random element
Over the past month or so I have been running various tests against the match engine.
A couple of days ago I completed a few smallish alterations to the match engine (including the introduction of a new, apparently superior, random number generator) that should help to remove some of the more extreme individual and team results.
For example, once version 104 is deployed
- sub-100 team scores on flat pitches will be less common
- 230+ scores on sticky or crumbling pitches will be less common
- batsmen will be slightly more likely to score at their 'expected' strikerate
- batting collapses will be slightly less common
The overal objective is to remove some of the more extreme match engine 'anomalies', resulting in slightly more 'evenness' in performances.
Without giving too much away, the core of the match engine remains pretty much untouched. There have just been a few extra checks and balances added.
