That’s great, and you never cease to amaze me with
your wonderful replies. But what if you only have 12
senior players? And a very average Youth team? It’s
one match, not a lot of prize money and you may get
through to round two. Then you play round two. Woo you get through
but your team are now so tired they couldn’t beat
the under 12 local netball team. So you get knocked out in
round 3 because you play mostly youths who are 16 or 17.
In my opinion, playing Youths devalues the Cup and is
disrespectful of your opponents. If you have a massive squad
of Seniors then you are going to go a long way in the Cup
because of squad management. If you get to round 3 or 4
with a small squad all you end up with is 12 or 13 seniors who
will be tired for a couple of weeks or more after you have been
knocked out which has a good chance of ruining your chances in
the leagues.

Then by all means play your youths lose rd 1 and just continue to play your leagues as normal.
If your youths win rd 1 then play them again until they lose.
Sorry if my responses are not to your likings.

You still get the gates from playing and its like free money.

Your not forced to play your seniors, you make the management decision to play your seniors because you want to win couple of rds.

Some teams have a 18-20man senior squad with a slread of oldies, nationals, and young players. And they play young for experience (another good thing for being in the PC, you get free experience.)

You cant make the cup optional, and you cant reset fatigue thats not right.
You do have the option however to play your youths good or bad doesnt matter. Just through your PC match take the money and run.

I like reading your replies. There was no offence meant by
that comment. My reasoning is that opt out of the cup,
don’t have fatigue. Opt in to the cup, have fatigue. Surely
the reason to be invited to play in the cup is the fact that the manager
has a half decent senior team so I can’t see the point
in playing Youths. Anyway, as I said, I value your
opinion and take your point of view on board. However,
there does need to be some changes to the format of
the cup for it to mean something. That’s is my opinion.

The first 2 rds are IMO just there to give some teams some experience and money.
Those who have a decent team will go past rd 3 and those who dont wont the fatigue tend to exit by rd 3 or sooner depending on the skze of the comp
But the fun normally starts at rd 5 for most. Its just how the comp is and IMO alot of comps are in RL.
The underdawg story is always fun or just abit of fun/experience for the weaker teams to play against the bigger boys. But if you dont have the squad size to manage it you decide to either through the sod match or pc match. I think the decision is good to have.

I personally love the fact that I get an additional game a year to play my relevant youth players and my fringe/developing seniors. Heck if I managed to win a round and get another game using them that would be even better :thumbsup

I can certainly see the argument that it "devalues" the cup, but teams that are willing to throw it almost certainly wouldn't make it past round 2, so I think it's an overblown issue.

As someone who runs a team that gets invited but usually gets drawn against a side that is much superior to mine it makes little odds what team i select but it is a nice cash bonus. So actually its just not very interesting.
Even of the few occasions we've progressed that's great for another cash bonus or even two (as had happened once) but it only goes until the inevitable happens and we are drawn against a team we have no chance against.

So just a couple of suggestions that maybe inspire other ideas make it more interesting:
- Have more than one tier to the cup to make it more competitive
- Have a preseason qualifying group stage (e.g. eight teams play each other once); then clear the fatigue before the start of the season
- Have a country cup where the best teams qualify for the pavilion cup

Its not that the Pavilion Cup is a problem or there aren't different strategies to it, but as the premier FTP tournament shouldn't it offer at least a little interest and excitement for the whole community of players?

May be worth looking into a FA cup style setup, having it be a few qualifying rounds fit in around games to make the final 128

It's getting a bit close on teams and rounds so huge no from me as will lead to teams who want to play being excluded

As someone who only manages Youth based sides, I liked the opportunity to be part of the Pavilion Cup. I knew I wasn't going to get far in the competition and I completely understand why my sides are no longer added to it but I always enjoyed giving my younger players the extra experience in another game for the season, if I somehow won a game then it was a bonus.

To answer your question though, I'd be happy to be part of the PC if invites were sent out in the future.
