'Sacked loads of my youth team last week so save costs, and so have had to stick in a bunch of 16 year olds. Bizarrely actually managed to win a match with what I'm pretty sure is the worst youth team I've ever put out!!

I was very happy with the bowling on an uneven pitch as we restricted them to 99. Rocha only conceded 8 runs from his 4 overs and picked up 2 wickets. Howe stepped up with the bat for 55 not out from 50 balls.

It's still level at the top and we've only got a slim net run rate advantage.

Fielding/Keeping 17,693 15,052
Overall 247,812 215,960

Ruff Royals won by 6 wickets

It didn't feel as comfortable as I had hoped. Rush took 4 wickets for 18 runs which was a big help in them only getting 130 runs. 130 runs isn't a high score on a slow pitch but it's not undefendable either. Bullock scored 37 from 32 balls and House got 36 from 32.

I'm one of three teams who are now joint top and I have a slight run rate disadvantage.

T. Johannisen (rm) 7-2-24-1, J. Marwat 48 (58b), G. Pithey 0 (2b)
End of over 37 (11 runs) - Ruff Royals(149-7) RR 4.03

Uneven pitch so we've been scoring really slowly which is disappointing. Losing 3 wickets in an over was also really disappointing. We need these last overs to be really profitable for us and then we'll need to bowl exceptionally well.

The last overs were profitable but I still feel like we might be 30-40 runs short.

swinton sharks vs The Raging Speed Horns
League Youth 2.1

Weather Humid
Pitch Slow

Half-time score

End of over 40 (9 runs) - swinton sharks(166-8) RR 4.15

These guys would normally outrate us by 5-7k, so nothing significant to fear on that front. I'd back my batsmen to make that total :think , which would keep us in with a sniff of a top 4 spot and a bit of dosh for season end.

In other news, we once again hit lucky with this weeks youth pull. After 13 weeks of $500 numpties, we now introduce -

Ragnar McSpank
31,992 rating
$1,489 wage (5% discount)

Right hand batsman | Right arm Medium
Talents Accumulator

Experience poor
Captaincy reasonable

Skills
Batting average Endurance poor
Bowling average Technique reasonable
Keeping average Power average
Fielding reasonable

to add to our useful little spin bowler from last week. Since we'll be losing our best batsman to seniors at the end of the season, this is a timely addition. I can stop belly aching about bad luck now

Ruff Royals Staindrop Lordies
Batting - Top Order 6,027 6,529
Batting - Middle Order 6,211 4,364
Batting - Tail 3,680 3,612

Fielding/Keeping 9,344 8,725
Overall 120,989 114,920

Ruff Royals won by 42 runs

Nothing to worry about in the end. Galindo's 47 and Marwat's 75 not out from 70 balls got us to what turned out to be a perfectly acceptable 185. Pithey then got us off to a great start with the ball and took 4-22. Buck was also excellent and ended with 4-29.

That win moves us up to 6th place with Staindrop Lordies dropping into the relegation zone.

Snakey's Kent Stars vs The Raging Speed Horns
League One Day 2.1

Weather Humid
Pitch Even

End of over 40 (4 runs)
- Snakey's Kent Stars(142-10) RR 3.55

Good bowling performance to polish off snakey's mob. At 76-7 I didn't think they'd top 100, but one of their guys dug in and spanked a few boundaries off Diablo, who had an uncharacteristically poor day. Maybe even tracks are no good for medium pacers (?) - I think it's my first time playing on one - figured the humid conditions would suit the seamers, but Ravana (rfs) stole the show with 4-14 (three of them top order). Speed (LF) picked up a tidy 3-fer; solid as always.

Should knock this off in no time to further improve the NRR (he said, optimistically).

The Raging Speed Horns won by 9 wickets

End of over 28 (13 runs) - The Raging Speed Horns(146-1) RR 5.21

Nice and simple - no scares. The ratings -

Match Ratings
Snakey's Kent Stars The Raging Speed Horns

Batting - Middle Order 12,762 11,074

Bowling - Seam 12,512 (20) 14,638 (30)
Bowling - Spin 13,274 (30) 15,561 (20)
Fielding/Keeping 16,344 18,476
Overall 241,134 245,827

Sparky's boys look to be heading for a win by the numbers. Dave's mob are (surprisingly) making hard going of their match with Surrey... :think

Had a bit of a scare losing 5/40 (with the wickets being all of my experienced batsmen) after the drinks break, but ended up getting home after a partnership between the inexperienced Tampling and one of my all-rounders.

Indian Avengers Crestfallen Sidekicks
Batting - Top Order 13,445 11,287
Batting - Middle Order 8,094 12,866
Batting - Tail 5,312 6,649
Bowling - Seam 10,438 (40) 12,059 (40)
Bowling - Spin 14,117 (10) 14,820 (10)
Fielding/Keeping 13,961 15,987
Overall 199,848 227,580

Crestfallen Sidekicks won by 4 wickets

Still a chance of snatching 2nd place of Indian Avengers, but am probably going to need to beat the leaders Gully Boys next week to do it!
