Hiya All
Its your new England Mgr here!

I have taken over piloting the good ship England from the legendary Wolfy. Having been his assistant for 2 stints I plan on continuity and keeping us at the top of the Nat ratings. I hope the ME is a bit kinder to me than it was for Wolfy and that our batters spend some quality time in the nets!

I have had a couple of messages asking about players chances of selection, please note I will endeavour to repsond within a week of any q? - or please post in the "Ask an England Mgr" thread.

I hope to be doing weekly entries in this thread about progress and plans.

My first task is to cajole some folk into being assistants, for scouting and ideas. If anyone fancies helping me out (I have had some kind offers already) please post here or IGM me before end of Friday.

Good luck for beginning of season - I'll be in touch. :thumbsup

1st OD tour to india

First Preferred Pitch Green
Second Preferred Pitch Uneven
Third Preferred Pitch Hard

Given those piches I have provisionally selected the following squad... (I will revise based on training update tomorrow) - My eagle eye being on Phil Lade, and Rupert Fleming and Silvy in the RFM camp.. with maybe Inness missing out and considering Harwood Poon (32) for a recall.....?

General principles -
With those pitches I see no point in more than one spinner, unless we got unlucky with weather (Hot), its a shame to leave talent like Rackemann, Bartowski, Winch and Rich Fleming at home, but I plan on bidding for T20 tour....

Eagle eyed will spot 3 x wk, Leopard gets in as a batter

5 x M and only 1 x FM... ideas/thoughts - I think OK for the pitch likelihood? but would prefer one more FM maybe?

Comments please

Batsmen & WK
Matthew Benham
Daryl Chatterton
Gavin Free
Elijah Leopard
Spencer Lynx
John McDonnell
Alexander Staunton
Dennis Cresswick
Moragn Feltham

Just missed cut :
Basil Casperson, Winnie Marks, Bayden Johns, Rhys McElhone (WK)

ARs -

Max Panther (sole spinner),
Rohan Inness (RM),
Ivan Mash (RM, OBB)

Seamers -
Denis Brain (LF),
Feodor Chailiapin (RF),
Yohan Hamill (RM, Yorker),
Tristan Irons (LM), J
ames Milner (LM, NBB),
Vincent Woerner (RFM/Bouncer)

Just missed cut :
Jaimi Silvy, Rupert Fleming (plopped in bowling)

I like it but I think I'd take Silvy over one of the mediums as two out of the three pitches are more helpful for FM bowlers, plus Silvy has the dual talents.

Well we got Hard, Green, Uneven, Hard, Hard... to make a bit of a mockery of the pitch choices... Glad I took everybodies advice and swapped out a M for F (I think Silvy is nearly a season away...).
We are not blessed in those stocks so I recalled 32y.o. Poon, lets hope his endurance holds up for 3 games!

On those pitches its going to be a bat fest, so lets hope we win a few tosses.... We're in group 2, that contains both the monstrous India, and the WC winners Canada, so no easy pickings out there... Poor old Max Panther must be thinking his economy rate is gonna take a bashing.....

Unlucky with that tour. Without that batting collapse in the last match we would probably have got promoted.

Yeah that and Stryker in the previous game..... At one stage in our last game I thought we might get skittled and relegated on NRR.....!
