Season 40 Youth Pulls Bragging/Training Advice/Etc..

Postby desert7 » Tue Jan 29, 2019 12:24 am

OK another season is upon us, so don't forget to pull your WI's youths every week. We need all the good pulls we can get. WI's has a smallish community of youth recruiters, but the upside is your pulls are more likely to make U19 squad than in many countries...

We also have a West Indies youth pull competition again this season. Prizes maybe similar to season 39 (around $300 AUS total), but no certainty as yet. Also remember that all pulls will be 16yo this season, so they'll all be qualified for the pull competition on age grounds (of course no guarantee they'll be good enough)...

Post your pulls in this thread to brag about gooduns, lament on rubbish, ask for training advice, etc :thumbsup

Both very decent, especially 1st listed. I'd be inclined to go bowl route on Persaud, he could end up a donkey on keeping/AR path with his tech. With 1st AR is a distinct possibility with tech/endurance and talents, but str8 bowler and str8 bat are also distinct possibilies. That bouncer talent definetly makes it arguable to go bowl/AR route when many would look at bat, especially as he's a LH bat. Maybe confused you even more

Fielding gives you time to think anyway...

Ye paul0774, Humphreys is a very good KB prospect for sure. I'd just add a note of caution that if tech gets ahead, then go for some bat tech/bat/fielding... 8)

Allan is a very good pull, currently highest rated pull of week 1. He could go AR, but he'd need a lot of bowl/bat tech/fielding to boost tech. He has a very good bat talent, so batting is not a daft call, by any means. However last season we struggled to get any very good FM's, so everything considered I wouldn't want to see a potential very good FM wasted. We have a similar Finisher already and TBH I'd be very surprised if he was to be in our top 10 RH bats EOS, but he could easily be a top 5 FM bowler EOS... :thumbsup

Nice DJ. Potbury is our only WS 16yo (over 10k anyway) so far. Obviously we'd hrope for at least a few better throughout the season - but some seasons it does not happen.... :thumbsup

Really like him Meiny, at least u19 squad material in 3 seasons time you would have to think and a definite one for your senior squad also :thumbsup

With fielding taken to reas/capable, then bowl tech/bowl all way after, he is gonna end up an excellent LH spinner at 19 :D

He's very useful verdi :)

As a general rule any 16yo over 15k can be worth saving, possibly even just 13k+ in some cases, early season. Relevant talent/s add to the case for making them worth saving.

Your lad has 4k spare and 1 very relevant training talent and spin spec is a minor bonus. He should be a very good club bowler at 19 at least. He would get in this/last seasons u19 squad as a pure bowler (I think), with decent experience/fielding :o

Easily the best pull I have ever had. Have to give him a bit of allrounder training to not waste the skill.
