Cricket Discussion continued...

A place to discuss cricket, whether it be the golden duck you scored in 4th grade last weekend, or a discussion about international matches.

I was impressed with Renshaw when he was first selected. Really, the selectors should have backed him and stuck with him. If they believe he is good enough to be selected at that young age, then they have to give a good run in the team.

Pujara's knock was very impressive. It's still shocking to think that he was dropped for the 1st Test in England earlier this year! He really is a study in Test match batting and every quality Test team needs one or two like him in their top order (I remember him taking over 50 balls to get off the mark in SA last year, but he stayed in there and good a decent score).

I can see Ishant Sharma being the real danger to the Australian batters. He hugely impressed me in England this year (especially when he went around the wicket to the left-handers). Of course, he was using swing to pose most of his threat then. The pathetic ball they use in Australia won't give him and chance to show that skill, unfortunately.

That pathetic ball swung in the morning for all the bowlers and Starc got it regularly albeit probably reverse after the 40th

That is a very good knock by Travis Head to help keep Australia in the match.

Ashwin has been lethal with his bowling.

All of the Indians bowled well, aside from a couple of loose spells from Shami later in the day. Really impressive from them - we just couldn't score freely.

Head was the pick of the batters, but even he had a bit of luck. Played some loose shots not unlike Finch and Marsh and most of the Indian top order, he was just lucky enough to keep playing and missing.

India certainly have a very decent attack , something that was proved last summer in the England series.

Nowadays it appears the majority of batsmen are unwilling or unable to play sensible Test innings and just want to attack.

What is the likelihood of Ashwin (87 overs) and Lyon (70 overs) being "managed" for the Perth Test which is only 4 days away and historically a fast bowlers deck ?

No chance with Lyon, Ashwin possibly but doubt it.

This Perth deck doesn’t have a lot of history. They are playing at Optus Stadium for the first test match played there. Will be interested to see how the pitch plays in the later days. The recent ODI against South Africa played there was very lively

BBL is scrapping the coin toss... Very interesting move.

Not really. They just swapped the coin for a bat.

Not at all. It makes it far more relatable for kids watching.

I don't know about you guys, but when I was at school playing cricket we never carried around a coin, we flipped a bat.

I think it'll be pretty cool for the young uns' who attend to watch their idols doing the same.

Our teacher carried the coin and as a Kid I just wanted to watch the cricket, never cared for all the glitzy BS.
