Division 1 Title!

Hassan and Essa come out with the ball after Abholsan held us together with the bat!

Great win, great tour and great trophy.

Next up we look to get out of Div 2 in T20.

Thanks for all who pull and train UAE players.

Well done team! Another great tour result! That's 5 YOD tour wins in 7 seasons now :)

The tour win does come with a bit of sadness.

It will be the last time the U20 Nats side see the following players:

Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum (Buggles United)
Akram Jubair (Durhams)
Khayri Rauf (The WaddiWallas)

Jubair and Rauf both played 3 YOD Nat Games - all last week.
Jubair scored 102 runs across 3 innings including a 54 against England.
Rauf can claim to have only played in winning Nat games (3/3 all wins).

Sheikh. My favourite least favourite player.
12 Nat Appearances - 5 YOD and 7 T20 - 2 YOD Div 1 Titles
Also toured in a T20 Div 1 Tour and a World Cup throughout his tenure.

8 wickets in 5 YOD matches but 3/26 on Monday against the Aussies and an unbeaten critical 21 runs that arguably won us the match.

A frustrating player to manage because we always felt he didn't live up to his potential. We saw glimpses. He threatened to really blow games apart and Monday/Tuesday this week was arguably our reward for remaining patient.

A big thanks to all managers who produce and train UAE players. We can't do any of it without you.

Onto the next. Div 2 T20 Tour of Bangladesh, pitches Slow, Dry, Flat in that preference. Matches daily at 0200.

match 6758333

:party :clap

33 from Umar, 49 from Wazir and 37 from Ababneh saw us post 178.

match 6758339

A Qaraja led (4/12) bowling effort meant we restricted Pakistan to just 125.

We then managed to chase that down with 9 wickets and over 5 overs to spare thanks to Khaleel (62) and Omar (51).

We take a handy NRR advantage into Day 3. Let's go again tomorrow against Ireland.

match 6758335

A hell of a scare but we win and lock up a ticket back to Div. 1. :clap :party

4 wickets for Fattah (4/12 off 4 overs), Hassan being frugal (2/6 off 3 overs) and Essa chipping in with 2 wickets (2/20 off 4 overs) saw us roll New Zealand for 92.

The openers got off to a flyer and things were going okay until New Zealand took 3 for nothing and panic hit the dressing room. Fortunately the pack of finishers were able to get the game iced and we stumbled to a 2 wicket win.

We take Bangladesh on in the last game.

The main thing is we promote back to Div 1.

Div 1 across the board is always our goal, so nice to straight back up.

4 great wins and then a blip on Friday.

Umar and Omar lead the way with the bat with 99 and 97 runs respectively.

Umar was also tournament leader with the gloves with his 2 stumpings and 5 catches.

Essa the shining light with the ball with his 7 wickets. Also handy contributions from the spinners Yaseen, Nazih, Fattah (5 wickets each).

Hassan dominated the field with his 3 outfield catches.

On to the next tour - Div 1 YOD.

Absolutely smoked by India, loss to Bangladesh and then we snag a win against the Aussies. Some reason we love to win when we’re the underdogs and really struggle when we’re the favourites.

All teams have two wins.

Basically means we have to win to avoid the drop and winning could possible snag us another Div 1 title.

Runs for Omar, wickets for Hassan, a win against New Zealand and we remain in Div 1 next season!

World Cup time - just a few weeks away and that’s where our attention goes immediately.

A big congratulations to Salam Hassan for taking out the tour MVP with a massive 301 fantasy points from his 4 matches. Leading wicket taker with his 12 wickets!

Omar was our leading run getter with his 159 from 4 outings.

A huge thank you to the players who age up after this tour Hassan and Salman have been great players for us and will both be missed.

Please no more humid weather.

Let’s go win a World Cup
