Re: Under 19 Matters
South Africa U19 won by 7 wickets
A. Ashley is tired.
J. Parsons (rm) 2.2-0-14-2, R. Boulter 6 (9b), D. Pamenter 20 (18b)
End of over 12 (5 runs) - South Africa U19(82-3) RR 6.83
So we have SL and WI on top of the ladder and we sit 3rd. They play each other tomorrow and we play the bottom placed Kenya, so if we win then we could finish 2nd based on our better NRR. Our fatigue has been managed well so we have put ourselves in the running for promotion

He was not played today so he can star for us tomorrow. Fingers crossedHellbound81 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 7:56 amThe same goes for my superstar, he has only managed a 35 not out with two single digit failures when he should be scoring tons in every match!

Well that's promotion to T20 Div 2. Strong finish to the week saw us win the last 3 games and sneak into 2nd on a superior NRR

Re: Under 19 Matters
Bit of a summary of the T20 tour week:
Game 1 vs Sri Lanka (Hard/Cloudy)
Played the strongest opponent 1st up. Batting 1st on a Hard pitch and only making 143 was always going to be tough. At the time it felt like we were about 20 runs short of a good total and SL chased it down in the 19th over. Ratings indicated they were a much more even side and they deserved to win really on the back of their bowling performance to restrict us.
Game 2 vs West Indies (Uneven/Sunny)
Batting 1st again we posted a much better total of 178 and I was confident of a win. Unfortunately we leaked runs and couldn't get the breakthroughs when needed. They kept wickets in hand to pile on 73 runs in the final 5 overs to get a last ball win. Devastating for our side given the position we were in at that 15 over mark but a ratings difference of 11k would suggest we did well to get into that position in the 1st place.
Game 3 vs Pakistan (Crumbling/Cloudy)
1st chance to use our spinners, medium and two backup seamers (RF,RFM), and our 1st win of the tour. This was a risk at the selection table going for an 18yo Fastie that was only Capable summary but he was the best option we had for that last touring spot. I was confident his strong secondaries would see him do ok for us and he returned 1 for 25 so it paid off. Hlengane (RFM) was also a risk and in a similiar position but again his good secondaries saw him return 0 for 22. Both acceptable figures and provided rest for top seamers for the important last 2 matches.
Game 4 vs USA (Uneven/Cloudy)
Bowling 1st we skittled a weaker side for 81 runs and then chased it down in 11.2 overs. This was important for our NRR which would be vital if we were to sneak into the promotion equation. We actually only outrated them by 5k but our diligent fatigue management saw us field 10 x Rested and 1 x Revived players compared to 6 x Rested, 4 x Energetic and 1 x Passable. The net result being a NRR boosting win.
Game 5 vs Kenya (Uneven/Windy)
Windy allowed us to play our rested LWS (1 for 21) and our 4 best seamers. We kept them to a decent total of 120 and then chased it down with ease in 15.2 overs losing just the 1 wicket. This was important as the top 2 teams before the match in SL and WI played each other so a good win ensured that our NRR helped us jump WI into 2nd spot and promotion.
Top 3 Batsmen
1st - Jorrie Bayvel (Spartan Kings) 105 runs
2nd - Royal Trystman (Lesotho Hardknocks) 101 runs
3rd - Laurence van der Knapp (Vivi) 79 runs
Top 3 Bowlers
1st - Heath Frankish (St Anne's 2nd XI) 7 wickets for 98 at an average of just 14.00
2nd - Charlie Peryman (St Anne's 2nd XI) 5 wickets for 101 at an average of 20.20
3rd - Cobus Kimmince (budgewoi bulldogs) 5 wickets for 113 at an average of 22.60

Re: Under 19 Matters
So for next weeks OD tour we have Green, Crumbling, Green, Green, Green. I'm happy with this as on tour we have 3 x RM, 2 x LM, 1 x RF and 2 x RFM. And for the Crumbling we have 2 quality spinners. All up its a great result so hopefully the weather is kind to us now

Re: Under 19 Matters
My expectations with this squad are pretty low. They really aren't Div 1 quality so we will see how we go. I think staying up will be a successful week but stranger things have happened in the land of FTP. I am expecting Routledge to bounce back from a mediocre T20 tour given the pitches we have. He will play a big role for us

Re: Under 19 Matters
I wouldn't knock our squad too much. 2 promotions in 2 tours has been a great result for them this season. Whilst the quality of our players isn't as high as some countries we shouldn't underestimate our side for this tour. Without experience from any tours last season every side has had lower ratings. We bring a good amount of experienced players into this tour and my opinion is we stand a good chance of finishing in the top 4. No drama if we don't, theres always next season. I am sure we will put on a good show. Anything can happen on tour, it is what it is.

Its not that relevant for most teams as they are a majority of 19yo who wouldn't have played last season anywayboscorp wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2019 8:08 pmI wouldn't knock our squad too much. 2 promotions in 2 tours has been a great result for them this season. Its more the lack of focus as people expected the game was going to close

Re: Under 19 Matters
I guess so. it would of only been 4-6 18 yr olds tour last season. but everyone is in the same boat there. I hadn't considered the lack of focus and maybe losing some managers. All the same, i'm hoping we stay up.

Re: Under 19 Matters
An unlucky start of the tour against Canada. I notice we have a few debutants for the tour. Hopefully that's a sign of decent players coming up. I guess with this tour you have saved a few better players for the second match against NZ. Hopefully the NRR doesn't come back and bite us.
