Version 145: End of season changes

Post by FTP-ashario » Fri Aug 24, 2012 12:00 am

Deployment: Saturday 25 August

New Site Design
Over the past few months I have been working on a new site design and logo for the game. This new look will be implemented the weekend.

Given there are almost 200 pages in the game, I'm sure there will be a few bugs to find. If anyone who does notice something that doesnt seem quite right, please report it in the bugs forum

Next season: Increased sponsorship
For next season, sponsorship will be organised roughly as follows

- div 6 and 7 will see a nominal increase in revenue (a few percent)
- div 5 will receive roughly the same as div 4 does now
- div 4 will receive roughly the same as div 3 does now
- div 3 will receive roughly the same as div 2 does now
- div 2 will receive roughly the same as div 1 does now
- div 1 will receive roughly 15% more than they do now

So, all teams in div 5 and above will receive roughly 15% more sponsorship revenue (and also have higher member soft caps and ticket prices).

Next season: Prizemoney distribution
As of next season prizemoney for 5th-8th place in league competitions will be removed, with only the top 4 being awarded prizemoney. The total amount of prizemoney awarded will remain the same, but it will be shared only between the top 4, with the split being 50%/25%/15%/10% for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th.

For example, in a senior one day division 4 league, prizemoney will change from
1st: $85,000, 2nd: $77,000, 3rd: $68,000, 4th: $60,000, 5th: $51,000, 6th: $42,000, 7th: $34,000, 8th: $25,000
to
1st: $221,000, 2nd: $111,000, 3rd: $67,000, 4th: 45,000

This will hopefully make it a little more attractive for teams to try to win their league and promote, as well as supplying somewhat of a 'warchest' payment for promoting teams to assist them in being competitive in their new league.

Prizemoney for division 1 will be distributed to the top 6, the reasoning being there is no need to allocate the bulk of prizemoney to first place as they are not promoting up a level.

Next season: Academy investment
The academy investment model, along with the effect various investment amounts have on your academy level, has always been one of the most difficult concepts in the game to understand for new managers.
With this in mind, the academies page and the rules have been updated to try and demystify academies. Starting with this version, you will be able to see exactly what effect on your academy level a particular weekly investment will have.

Additionally, the speed at which academies rise or fall has been increased.
For example, if you have a low level academy and you substantially increase your weekly investment, your academy will improve at a faster rate.
Conversely, if you have a high level academy and you substantially decrease your weekly investment, your academy will deteriorate at a faster rate.

Next season: Gaining supporters
The calculations determining the number of supporters you gain or lose each week have been altered slightly. Most teams probably wont notice much of a change, but new teams will notice the number of new supporters signing up each week has increased significantly (up from a maximum of roughly 15 per week to 25 per week).
Conversely, teams that have already established a large supporters club will find the rate of increase drop slightly, and those with even larger supporters club will find it slightly more difficult to stop supporters slowly leaving the club.

Preferences page redesign
At the moment there are multiple 'preferences' pages (eg Club-> Preferences for your personal details and potentially multiple Club -> Team Details pages for nat managers or managers running an affiliate team). This has been combined into a single page (Club -> My Profile)

Just a quick not to let everyone know the 'only top 3 get prizemoney' decision has, based on vigorous and animated discussion in the forums :) , been modified to a 'only the top 4 get prizemoney' structure.

Additionally, in div 1, it has been changed from 'top 3 get prizemoney' to 'top 6 receive prizemoney', th reasoning being there is no need to award first the bulk of the prizemoney as they arent promoting to a higher division.

I am in the process of updating the first post in this thread accordingly.
