Match Engine Changes

Post by FTP-ashario » Mon Nov 05, 2007 8:03 am

Depending on final testing, sometime this week a new version of the match engine will be implemented. The major focus will be to make pitch and tactic decisions more important. The upcoming changes include:

1. The pitch type selected will have a greater effect on the outcome of a match. For example, spinners will do better than they previously did on a crumbling pitch.

2. The weather during the match will have a greater effect on the result. For example, expect all seam bowlers to do better on humid days, and fast bowlers to struggle a bit on hot days.

3. The effect of the attacking and defensive batting and bowling orders has been increased. Previously, these orders had a fairly minor effect.

4. The importance of the power skill has been increased. Batters with higher power skill will more likely to score at a faster rate. Seam bowlers with higher power skill will be more likely to take wickets.

5. The importance of technique for spin bowlers has been increased slightly at the expense of power. Power plays a minor part for spin bowlers.

6. The amount of energy lost by bowlers each over has been reduced slightly. This will slightly delay the onset of 'tiredness'.
