195/5 in our 50, happy with that, but with the way we've been bowling so far this season, I can't be all that confident

Dry pitch and we were put into bat first against Ffoh.

We lost an early wicket, recovered a bit, and then lost a cluster of wickets to make it tough for ourselves. It was going terribly at 80-4 and 101-5 but we managed to recover a bit again with Paton and Hodges getting us to 150-5. Hodges then went. Roberson stayed in for a while and helped Paton to get us to 196-6. But then Paton was caught and bowled and the remaining wickets fell in no time. 198 all out.

S. Hodges (rfs) 4-0-15-0, A. Vethanayagam 34 (55b), I. Wijemanne 26 (51b)
End of over 18 (2 runs) - Ffoh(68-1). 131 runs required from 32 overs. RR 3.78 RRR 4.09

It's not looking good. I didn't think 198 would be enough but it gave us a chance. We need Ffoh to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with a big collapse (or two).

P. Callaway (rfs) 5-1-9-2, B. Fisher 1 (1b), R. Aitchison 5 (16b)
End of over 36 (1 run) - Ffoh(141-7). 58 runs required from 14 overs. RR 3.92 RRR 4.14

They were 117-1 so that's quite a collapse. I still can't say I'm confident as this feels like it could be a crazy game.

Ruff Royals won by 28 runs

Ruff Royals Ffoh
Batting - Top Order 13,764 13,496
Batting - Middle Order 11,150 11,422
Batting - Tail 4,463 6,865
Bowling - Seam 13,125 (20) 12,708 (20)
Bowling - Spin 13,356 (30) 13,280 (30)
Fielding/Keeping 16,673 16,307
Overall 229,392 234,446

A good win in the end. It wasn't an easy game. Paton's 68 was crucial as was Ten Dam's 3-25 and Callaway's 3-11. That was more like the Callaway the fans know and love. Moses was a bit more expensive but he did pick up 3 wickets for 47 runs.

I'm back to the top after Dave's win over Inchigeela Angels. :D

Well thank god for that, was looking like a bit of a lost cause at one stage, but we've snuck home with a 12 run win.

0.1nb 6 Martel to Glenn : That was barely medium pace from Martel, and Glenn had no trouble smashing that over long-off. Dropped in the crowd, though, as the spectator valued his beer above the catch.

OK then....

Ruff Royals won by 5 wickets

Ruff Royals The Ashes CC
Batting - Top Order 7,453 6,257

Bowling - Spin 7,450 (12) 5,382 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 9,021 7,993
Overall 122,859 112,507

We bowled first and they made 124 on a dry pitch. Bruce took 3-16. The batting wasn't comfortable but we did get there largely thanks to 55 from Dotson.

Somehow we are 8 points clear at the top. I'm not really expecting it to last.

I had some tired players so had to rest some with my main focus currently being SOD where I'm pretending I've got a chance of winning the league. It's likely to be a battle against relegation in T20 but there is a tiny bit of breathing space at the moment so I'm gambling that I can afford to lose this game.

T. Julian (rfs) 4-0-29-2, P. Massey 5 (8b)
End of over 20 (5 runs) - Ruff Royals(120-10) RR 6.00

We're 20-40 runs short, I reckon. 65 for Liberatore was the stand out performance. Theoretically, we should have been better at batting than bowling.

C. Rush (lm) 3-0-23-0, R. Whitesides 16 (15b), T. Julian 7 (9b)
End of over 18 (12 runs) - Relegation reprobates(112-5). 9 runs required from 2 overs. RR 6.22 RRR 4.50

Defeat is inevitable but I don't think that was too bad an effort by the bowlers.

3 wickets in the penultimate over made it much closer than I expected. Couldn't get the 2 wickets in the last over but I'm happy that it was that close.
