J. Benaud (rfs) 8-1-35-3, T. Hopper 13 (16b), J. Lord 14 (11b)
End of over 40 (9 runs) - wolfberries(166-8) RR 4.15
Can't see us defending this but still better than I thought it would be at one point.

I did a similar thing. 35 overs into my sides batting and I thought, "we're scoring quite quickly at this stage; if we can keep this up for the next 15 overs we'll be in a very good position."wolfberries wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:51 amWas getting CENSORED off because of the low RR, then I remembered it was a Thursday and the game is 40 overs

E. Machage (lm) 8-1-50-1, T. Ball 36 (25b), C. Ingram 39 (32b)
End of over 40 (9 runs) - Ruff Royals(201-6) RR 5.03
I guess this isn't too bad on an uneven pitch. Not a lot to play for really although I suppose we could get more prizemoney with a win.
C. Rush (lm) 4-1-7-0, G. Hutchinson 13 (28b), A. Fairley 27 (55b)
End of over 15 (2 runs) - Camberwell Carrots(54-1). 148 runs required from 25 overs. RR 3.60 RRR 5.92
We've not got many wickets but the RRR is increasing. I do feel we need to pick up some more wickets to keep the pressure on.

Camberwell Carrots won by 5 wickets.
Camberwell Carrots Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 6,391 5,287
Batting - Middle Order 5,737 5,076
Batting - Tail 3,221 3,283
Bowling - Seam 5,916 (32) 5,498 (32)
Bowling - Spin 7,921 (8) 8,680 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 8,459 6,855
Overall 115,141 102,545
Ball picked up 3 wickets and got us into a decent position but my closing bowlers just couldn't keep the runs down.
We finish in 6th but we would have done much better if I'd played my full strength team for the last few games of the season.

We've already secured promotion and they've already been relegated so it's a dead rubber.
I decided to switch to a dry pitch and I'm playing close to the team that might be what I pick in next season's SOD 1.1. The only exceptions are that I've not picked my best keeper, what will be next season's best seamer, and I've left out two of my better bats. I suspect only one of those batsmen will be around for next season as Kirk is 32 and may have declined by too much at that point.
I've been made to bowl first.

2 run outs so far and a wicket for Perry so it's going quite well.

End of over 15 (2 runs) - The Warriors(58-3) RR 3.87
Spinners on now. They've picked up a few runs and a partnership is beginning to develop so we've got to be careful and try to stop that from growing any further.

4 wickets for Moses and it looks like it's going to be a comfortable victory unless we bat disasterously.

The batting was fairly comfortable with a low total to chase. 20-year-old batsman McCall hit his best SOD score of 44 and Libaratore finished on 34 not out. So we finish the season with only 2 SOD losses in the league.

strange old game today, winner gets 4th place, loser gets relegated!

Batting - Top Order 13,078 12,781
Batting - Middle Order 9,757 10,880
Batting - Tail 4,601 5,072
Bowling - Seam 12,322 (30) 12,451 (30)
Bowling - Spin 13,036 (20) 14,714 (20)
Fielding/Keeping 16,030 15,779
Overall 216,278 223,985
opponents won the toss and opted to bat, and at 192/2 after 30 looked set for a mammoth total. but 2 wickets in 2 balls changed the game, and 192/2 became 263/10. Things looked a little dicey for us at 178/5, but fortunately our young keeper and two all rounders did the job and we got a 4 wicket win to stay up, and miraculously get in the prize money spots!
it's been a difficult season, and I'm just relieved that we did do enough to get over the line and give ourselves another season at the 2nd tier.
also a special mention to my club legend Coppell who was retired after the game,
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/player. ... Id=1753257
could have gone on for a little bit of next season, but wanted him to go out on a high.
150 appearances, 280 OD wickets @ 17.59
133 appearances, 222 T20 wickets @ 13.89
502 wickets combined, my next all time best bowler 222 wickets combined
been an amazing player for me, doubt I'll ever have anyone else reach his stats or come close!
also losing our 2nd highest appearance maker, selling off our long-time finisher Mccarthur
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/player. ... Id=1851226
been a quiet season for him, and just felt like the right time to move him on. still will be super strange next season when we line up without Coppell and Mccarthur, been super integral parts of the team for many many seasons.
Got plenty of decent young players in the club, looking forward to next season, hopefully we won't make such a hash of it!!

Re: England League and Cup Discussion
So it starts again and after the U20 WC embarrassment, I need the club comps to take my mind if it.
