A. Chellaiah (rfs) 10-1-41-2, E. McCall 22 (21b), P. Callaway 0 (6b)
End of over 50 (maiden) - Ruff Royals(251-6) RR 5.02

An okay total but we could certainly lose the game still. Paton was out 6 balls after I mentioned he was a finisher. Issa with a great innings of 104 from 128 balls; he's starting to get a few good scores now.

They haven't hired Mark Hughes have they?!

They should have stuck with Hodgson if they could have persuaded him to stay on (from the outside, it didn't seem like they tried to keep him).

Big win; the sooner we can get safe, the better.

Issa's 104 set up the win and the bowlers completed the job. 3-27 for Ten Dam and 3-27 for Moses were the best of my bowlers.

I wasn't opposed to Roy going, the football was shocking, but surely we could have had a replacement lined up :think :think 28/1 Dougie Freedman on Skybet I've stuck 20 quid on, well worth a bet I think.

You need better players to play good football though and that can be quite expensive. I doubt they want to spend that much money so I imagine Hodgson did the best he could with the resources he had. Eze and Zaha are good attacking players but that's about it as far as I can see. Benteke was improving towards the end of the season and I liked the look of Mitchell. But if you want to stay in the league and play attacking football then you'll need to spend some money or have some academy players ready to come into the first team. For instance, over recent seasons, Brighton have spent about 200 million and still get in a relegation battle.

It's a balance I guess, we played better stuff with better results under Allardyce and Pulis with worse sides. Not to say Roy did a bad job, but I was in favor of him going.

Anyway good start for us both look forward to our meeting in round 6

It could be a top of the table clash for all I know! I was expecting Ffoh to walk it this season but it looks like it's going to be close. There's a couple of younger players that I want to give regular games to so I won't generally be at full strength for SOD games; I might regret that if it means I drop points which would have won me a surprise title. I'll be happy just to survive though.

A good total on a flat pitch but we'll still need to bowl well. 85 from 45 balls for Gera was the best performance.
