League One Day 3.4
Date 18 Sep 20 10:00
Weather (forecast) Windy
Pitch (current) Dry

Toss: wolfberries won the toss and elected to bat.

Lost our best player to International duty for England this week :party so going to be a tough game today, his replacement really is miles away from the same quality. Fingers crossed we can scrape a win to keep us in top spot.

The Dross are playing 3 good batsmen but the rest of them aren't great. Unfortunately, we are making hard work of this and we keep losing wickets. It's not looking that good and I fear an upset is on the cards if these two don't make a huge partnership.

W. Arnberger (lfs) 5-0-28-1, J. Bass 26 (18b), C. Paton 2 (5b)
End of over 19 (11 runs) - Ruff Royals(121-4) RR 6.37

Edit: And their 1k waged spinner picks up his 3rd wicket. I don't know what is going on here? My batsmen are supposed to be stronger than my bowlers in this game and I can't see us defending the total we're going to get.

End of over 25 (4 runs) - wolfberries(96-3) RR 3.84

Not the worst 25 overs but it's touch and go so far...

End of over 30 (3 runs) - wolfberries(111-6) RR 3.70

Oh dear, we aren't going to win this then. Looks like we could finish about 75 behind a par score!

I suspect the loss of so many wickets is partly down to me playing two allrounders. At least one of those allrounders has decided to help rescue us.

B. Heather (rfs) 9-0-70-0, S. Hodges 43 (48b), C. Paton 53 (55b)
End of over 37 (9 runs) - Ruff Royals(223-6) RR 6.03

B. Clifton (rws) 7-0-25-4, E. Calder 1 (1b)
End of over 44 (3 runs) - wolfberries(165-10) RR 3.75

Way short of what is required, strangely enough it probably happened because we only played one all rounder.

K. Doyle (lws) 10-0-88-0, C. Paton 147 (97b), S. Hodges 106 (84b)
End of over 50 (12 runs) - Ruff Royals(381-6) RR 7.62

I think I'm okay with that total. Great innings my Hodges in particular considering he's just an allrounder and everyone else (apart from Paton) didn't do great. The bowlers weren't any good though so it was a bit embarrassing how some of them performed.

E. Peden (rf) 5-0-44-2 :think , G. Jones 20 (19b), J. Ballance 28 (24b)
End of over 9 (5 runs) - marks marvels(63-2). 103 runs required from 41 overs. RR 7.00 RRR 2.51

At least he took two wickets in the spell.

S. Payne (lfs) 2-0-3-0, V. Hagenaars 3 (10b), J. Ballance 30 (38b)
End of over 14 (1 run) - marks marvels(70-3). 96 runs required from 36 overs. RR 5.00 RRR 2.67

Really need the two spinners bowling now to pull the RR back and take wickets.

To be fair to my team they did have one good bowler who bowled (another one is just batting, I think). And they only have one good batsmen rather than the 3 that I said earlier the other 2 were bowlers.

E. Perry (rm) 5-0-23-0, T. Connolly 5 (7b), F. Majange 19 (24b)
End of over 10 (7 runs) - The Dross(46-2). 336 runs required from 40 overs. RR 4.60 RRR 8.40

About 5 minutes short of setting orders so I've lost this game. :( With 2 players away on international duty, I was probably going to lose anyway.

Strange but when I'm the manager for the International week I can really only concentrate on the tour games, they are pretty much my top priority and club matches just trail off in importance...
