T. Ball (lws) 7-1-12-3, R. Santiago 5 (12b), J. de Reuck 1 (1b)
End of over 34 (3 runs) - Staindrop Village CC(118-8) RR 3.47

It was looking okay here but the last few overs were terrible for our chances of winning the game and it ended like this:

T. Vaughn (rm) 8-1-29-2, R. Santiago 28 (31b), J. de Reuck 28 (19b)
End of over 40 (9 runs) - Staindrop Village CC(169-8) RR 4.22

I think that's going to be too much to chase on a crumbling pitch.

L. Shurmer (rf) 6-1-17-0, R. Nannes 12 (25b), S. Walshe 16 (33b)
End of over 20 (5 runs) - Pedagogs(56-2). 165 runs required from 20 overs. RR 2.80 RRR 8.25

Very happy with our first twenty overs.

wolfberries won by 96 runs

Very happy with the size of the win, might need to have a rethink about our youth pitches.

Well played Wolf - had rested a couple of my better players for the cup, but not sure it would have made much of a difference.

Staindrop Village CC Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 8,212 7,753
Batting - Middle Order 6,359 6,293
Batting - Tail 5,024 2,852
Bowling - Seam 7,391 (24) 6,089 (24)
Bowling - Spin 9,053 (16) 9,901 (16)
Fielding/Keeping 8,587 9,287
Overall 139,398 130,673

Ruff Royals won by 3 wickets.

We looked in control until the last 7 overs where we really struggled. We got the win after picking up a single from the last ball of the innings. Whitehead (51 from 69 balls) and McCall (42 from 49 balls) were the key to giving the lower order a chance to sneak home. Ball was the star with the ball and finished with 3-28.

Gold Prospectors X1 look like the team to beat this year (and next) with ratings of about 145k and I think they'll only lose 2 players to the seniors.

We are going to struggle in our league this season, I know Gold Prospectors X1 took it easy on us ratings wise on Monday but if it wasn't for the BS no ball we would have beaten them! That could cost us in the 20/20 youth wise as well!

Home The Dross
Away Ruff Royals
Ground The Dross CG
League One Day 1.1
Date 31 Jul 20 10:00
Crowd 15,482
Weather Cloudy
Pitch Sticky

The Dross have picked a team where the oldest player is 19 so we'll get our return to div 1 off to a great start. I'm not expecting to stay up this season and will generally leave my two 30+ aged batters out of the team so this is going to be as good as it gets.

J. Mailey (lfm) 1-0-2-0, T. Liberatore 50 (36b), F. Best 37 (30b)
End of over 11 (2 runs) - Ruff Royals(87-0) RR 7.91

End of over 28 (13 runs) - Ruff Royals(231-0) RR 8.25

I'm not sure why, but I'm feeling confident about this game. Best's best score so far. :clap

Liberatore misses out on his best score after getting out for only 166. Double hundred for Best!

Not sure if he's just going for the cup or what. I don't play him for a few weeks but they did the double over me last season so hopefully he's still playing the kids by then!

They've got 11 high waged players and that's it so I guess they're concentrating on the cup. I don't know if they're going to be buying some more players at some point; only 11 players for the cup would be a stretch considering you might need different bowlers for different conditions. I've no idea if they're going to play their better players in the league later on or if they're just accepting relegation and having a real go at the cup.

It might give me an unexpected chance to survive but who knows?

We didn't make it to 500 but I'm still happy. I think we might be top of the league by the end of the day.

Its the kind of bonus you like. A bit like playing someone with a few internationals on a national week!
