Post Tour Review: A Tough Tour for Pakistan
Pakistan endured a challenging tour, finishing with 1 win and 4 losses. While the batting lineup produced some standout performances, inconsistent bowling proved costly.
Game 1 vs Scotland – Won by 4 wickets
Scotland set a daunting 336/5, led by centuries from G.Drummond (108) and C.Aitken (103). M.Kirmani’s 4/53 was the lone bright spot with the ball. In response, T.Laghari (125) and N.Nath (112) rescued Pakistan from early trouble, chasing the target in 47.5 overs.
Game 2 vs Ireland – Lost by 4 wickets
S.Maqsood (98) and A.Shafi (68) powered Pakistan to 340/6. However, Ireland chased it down comfortably in 48.2 overs, with R.McCann (72*) guiding them home.
Game 3 vs England – Lost by 9 runs
England posted a competitive 263/7, despite M.Kamal’s 4/53. T.Laghari (96) kept Pakistan in the chase, but the team fell short at 254/5.
Game 4 vs Kenya – Lost by 46 runs
D.wa Mutahi’s explosive 150 (100) led Kenya to 370/4. A.Shafi’s brilliant 127 kept Pakistan’s hopes alive, but they finished at 324/9, falling short once again.
Game 5 vs Bangladesh – Lost by 33 runs
Bangladesh posted 295/7, with K.Shankar (80) leading the way. Pakistan’s top order faltered, and despite efforts from T.Laghari (56) and W.Akhtar (40), the team managed only 262/8.
Batting:
• T.Laghari (277 runs @ 277.00) – A consistent performer, including a match winning century vs Scotland.
• A.Shafi (235 runs @ 78.33) – Starred with a brilliant 127 vs Kenya.
Bowling:
• M.Kirmani (10 wickets @ 20.20) – Pakistan’s most effective bowler.
• S.Masih & M.Kamal – Contributed key breakthroughs but lacked consistency.
Pakistan showed glimpses of brilliance, especially in batting, but the bowling unit struggled to contain opposition teams.
