Game 5 vs India on a Crumbling surface with Humid conditions expected.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat.

First Innings: Pakistan 233/5 in 50 overs
In their final showing of the tour, Pakistan opted to bat first, looking to possibly bat India out of the contest in tough conditions. They started steadily, if circumspect. However, a wicket in the 10th was followed quickly by three more. It seemed that the Indian pacers would make Pakistan rue the toss decision with the score at 84/4 in 23 overs.

However, that's when the Pakistani resurgence came through the middle and lower order, specifically in the form of keeper Masood Hamza (67 off 79) and allrounder Muzaffar Ashraf (62 off 56). They both hit half centuries in a crucial 123 run stand to deny the Indian bowling and steer the effort back on track, giving the bowlers a decent total to defend.

Second Innings: India 200 all out in 45.1 overs
The Indian chase started off carefully yet solidly. At the haflway mark, the total stood at 99/2 and it seemed that India had built their platform. However, a double strike by leg spinner Rameez Munir in the 27th over swung things back in Pakistan's favor. From that point, the Pakistani bowling attack did not allow a partnership to develop, regularly taking wickets.

The Indian batting showed some late defiance through Nadeem Bhadoria who hit 37 off 29 deliveries. However, it was too little too late and he too fell to Munir- who finished with a 5fer for his efforts. Muzaffar Ashraf contributed with the ball as well, taking 3 wickets and India found themselves bowled out in the 46th over, short by 33 runs.

Man of the match: Rameez Munir LWS 10-1-31-5

Game 1 vs Kenya on a Uneven pitch with Sunny conditions expected.

Kenya won the toss & elected to bowl first.

First Innings: Pakistan 168/4 off 20 overs
Pakistan posted 168/4 in their allotted 20 overs, a total that appeared competitive on an uneven pitch. H.Abbas 45 (34) and F.Mirza 57 (37) were the standouts, combining for a 67 run 2nd wicket partnership that provided the innings with a much needed boost.

Mirza was particularly aggressive, smashing 8x4’s in his breezy knock, while captain A.Hamid 29* (19) added a late flourish with a quickfire cameo. However, the Kenyan bowlers, led by J.Abadu (3/31), kept things in check with regular wickets.

Second Innings: Kenya 173/2 off 18.2 overs
Kenya’s chase began on a shaky note, with I.Mathai bowled by H.Sami (2/28) for a duck in the 1st over. Sami struck again to remove S.Gicheru 14 (13), leaving Kenya at 31/2 inside 4 overs.

But from that point, it became the Kosgey show. The flamboyant right hander smashed an unbeaten 112 off just 56 balls, hitting 14x4’s and 2x6’s in a masterclass of power hitting and placement. He was ably supported by J.Mwashimba 47* (39), whose calm innings ensured there were no further hiccups.

Kosgey’s destructive batting dismantled Pakistan’s bowling attack. The Kenyan pair finished the chase in 18.2 overs, cruising to victory with 10 balls to spare.

Man of the Match: B.arap Kosgey 112* (56)

Game 2 vs Canada on a Hard pitch with Cloudy conditions expected.

Canada won the toss & elected to bowl first.

First Innings: Pakistan 179/5 off 20 overs
After being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted a total of 179/5, thanks to A.Shafi’s blistering 65* (39) and A.Barlas’s steady 53 (40). Despite a shaky start that saw them reduced to 18/2 after 2.3 overs, Barlas and Shafi rebuilt the innings with a 96 run stand for the 4th wicket.

W.Akhtar’s late cameo 16* (8) added crucial runs in the death overs. Canada’s W.Roe was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/32, while Z.Marquez 2/22 provided good support.

Second Innings: Canada 171/5 off 20 Overs
Canada began their chase disastrously, losing opener H.Francis for just 3 in the 1st over. However, T.Johnston’s explosive 80 (51), featuring 7x4’s and 2x6’s, kept Canada in the hunt.

He found an able ally in A.Houser 57 (46), as the duo added 110 runs for the 3rd wicket to take Canada to within touching distance of victory. However, excellent fielding from Pakistan, including two critical run outs by I.Jilani and N.Nath, derailed Canada’s momentum.

With 19 needed off the final over, M.Ismail held his nerve, claiming the wicket of D.Crews before closing out the game to give Pakistan an 8 run victory.

Zimbabwe won the toss & elected to bat first.

First Innings: Zimbabwe 185/8 off 20 overs
Zimbabwe set an imposing target of 185/8, with T.Ontong 32 (23) and E.Davids 32 (18) providing an explosive start. M.Mash 40 (25) and T.Mahlunge 28 (23) carried the momentum into the middle overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers faced early punishment but pulled things back in the death overs, led by I.Jilani’s 3/34. M.Niazi chipped in with 2 wickets, as Zimbabwe lost 4 wickets for just 1 run between the 17th and 18th overs.

Second Innings: Pakistan 186/4 off 20 overs
Pakistan’s chase was headlined by opener H.Abbas, who scored a composed 59 (42), setting the tone alongside S.Barlas 50 (33). The pair added 98 runs for the opening wicket, laying a strong foundation.

Despite a minor wobble in the middle order, skipper A.Hamid 39* (22) anchored the innings with a captain’s knock. A.Barlas 11 (6) and N.Nath 12* (5) provided the finishing touches, ensuring Pakistan crossed the line on the last ball of the game.

Game 4 vs West Indies on a Hard pitch with Humid conditions expected.

West Indies won the toss & elected to bat first.

First Innings: West Indies 195/2 off 20 overs
West Indies captain N.Bissoon led from the front with a masterful 104* (60), anchoring the innings with support from A.Demmin, who struck a fluent 72 (50). The pair combined for a 160 run opening stand, dominating Pakistan’s bowlers.

While the bowlers struggled, M.Kamal 1/47 managed to break the partnership, and sharp fielding resulted in W.Barrasingha’s run out. However, West Indies finished strongly, reaching 195/2.

Second Innings: Pakistan 190/4 off 20 overs
Chasing 196, Pakistan’s innings got off to a disastrous start with H.Abbas bowled for a golden duck on the very first ball. A.Shafi counterattacked with a brisk 46 (28) before falling to Carrington. R.Fazal held the innings together with a steady 58 (45), but his run out in the penultimate overs proved costly.

A.Barlas nearly turned the game on its head with a blistering unbeaten 74* (42), including 7x4’s and 2x6’s. However, Pakistan fell just short, finishing at 190/4.

Pakistan won the toss & elected to bat first.

First Innings: Pakistan 114/7 off 20 overs
Electing to bat first, Pakistan never looked comfortable. H.Abbas top scored with 53 (52), holding the innings together amid a flurry of wickets. However, a lack of support from the middle order left Pakistan struggling to accelerate, as Bermuda’s bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths.

M.Lake was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3/27 in his 4 overs. He was supported by V.Bourne 1/23 and P.Johnnybread 1/15, as Pakistan could only muster 114/7 in 20 overs.

Second Innings: Bermuda 118/3 off 19.4 overs
Bermuda’s chase began cautiously, with openers D.Mahabir 29 (35) and R.Carew 34 (36) laying a solid foundation. Despite the efforts of M.Niazi, who picked up 2/26 in his 4 overs, Bermuda’s batters negotiated Pakistan’s bowling comfortably.

R.Westmaas finished unbeaten on 31* (23), ensuring there were no late hiccups. Bermuda reached the target in 19.4 overs, losing just 3 wickets in the process.

Post Tour Review: Tour of Highs and Lows for Pakistan

The Pakistan team experienced a rollercoaster tour, finishing with 2 wins and 3 losses. The squad showed moments of brilliance, but inconsistency proved costly, ultimately resulting in relegation to Division 3.

We were in with a shout to promote on the final matchday, as well as the possibility of relegation, and unfortunately, we ended up on the wrong side of the table. Quite the contrast to the first OD tour where we went unbeaten. This tour highlights how, with an ever changing squad, fortunes can shift dramatically. Consistency will be key to achieving and maintaining U20 standards.

Game 1 vs Kenya
• Result: Lost by 8 wickets
A competitive total of 168/4, courtesy of F.Mirza’s aggressive 57 and H.Abbas composed 45, wasn’t enough as B.Kosgey’s stunning 112* single handedly took the game away.

Game 2 vs Canada
• Result: Won by 8 runs
A.Shafi’s unbeaten 65 and A.Barlas’s steady 53 led Pakistan to 179/5. Tight fielding and death bowling, including two run outs, helped Pakistan defend the total against Canada’s valiant effort led by T.Johnston’s 80.

Game 3 vs Zimbabwe
• Result: Won by 6 wickets
Pakistan chased down 185 in a nail biting last ball finish. H.Abbas (59) and S.Barlas (50) built the foundation, with captain A.Hamid’s unbeaten 39 steering the side home.

Game 4 vs West Indies
• Result: Lost by 5 runs
Despite a shaky start, A.Barlas’s explosive 74* nearly pulled off a miracle chase of 196. However, N.Bissoon’s magnificent 104* proved to be the difference.

Game 5 vs Bermuda
• Result: Lost by 7 wickets
Pakistan’s batting faltered on an uneven pitch, posting only 114/7. H.Abbas fought valiantly with 53, but Bermuda chased the target comfortably, sealing a disappointing end to the tour.

Batting Standouts
• H.Abbas: The top run scorer for Pakistan, tallying 157 runs in 4 matches at an average of 39.25. His composed 59 in the crucial win against Zimbabwe showcased his reliability at the top of the order.
• A.Barlas: A consistent middle order batter, scoring 138 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156.82. His unbeaten 74 against the West Indies nearly turned the game in Pakistan’s favor.
• A.Shafi: Played a pivotal role with a stunning 65* against Canada, finishing the tour with 121 runs at a strike rate of 153.16.

Bowling Contributions
• H.Sami: The pick of the seamers, taking 4 wickets in the tour, including figures of 2/28 against Kenya. His economy rate of 6.94 was the best among Pakistan’s pacers.
• M.Niazi: The standout spinner for Pakistan, taking 4 wickets at a strike rate of 17.00, including an economical spell of 2/26 against Bermuda.
• I.Jilani: While not among the top wicket takers, his contributions with the ball helped pull things back in key moments.

Graduating Players
Nine players will graduate from the U20 setup after this tour:
H.Sami, B.Kaneria, I.Jilani, A.Hamid, S.Barlas, H.Abbas, M.Niazi, M.Ismail & A.Anwar

Pakistan won the toss & elected to bowl first.

First Innings: Scotland 336/5 off 50 overs
Put into bat first on a hard pitch, Scotland made full use of the conditions as their top order piled on the runs. Opener G.Drummond 108 (103) and C.Aitken 103 (115) stitched together a massive 216 run stand, setting a strong platform.

M.Kirmani was the standout bowler for Pakistan, claiming 4/53 in 10 overs, including crucial wickets of Drummond, Gibson, Souness, and Grant. Despite his efforts, Scotland capitalised on the strong start, with D.Souness 62 (45) and captain W.Grant 26 (15) providing a late flourish as they went on to post a score of 336/5 in 50 overs.

Pakistan started shakily, losing 3 wickets inside 13 overs. S.Ul-Haq 24 (30) and R.Fazal 30 (28) tried to stabilise the innings, but the chase looked in danger at 103/4.

Then came the match defining partnership. T.Laghari 125* (107) and N.Nath 112 (83) turned the game around with a stunning 212 run stand for the 5th wicket. After Nath’s dismissal in the 46th over, there was a brief scare when K.Habib fell for a golden duck, but M.Kirmani 15* (9) ensured Pakistan crossed the finish line in 47.5 overs, finishing on 337/6.
