End of over 25 (4 runs) - Tempest(85-3) RR 3.40

Not too bad so far. Was 38/3, good recovery from these two for Tempest.

I got home by 5 wickets in the end. A lot of players chipping in, no real standouts. Wasn't his best team, but i'll take whatever wins I can get.

Youth

End of over 40 (maiden) - Golden Hacks CC(203-10). 27 runs required from 0 overs. RR 5.08 RRR 0.00
R. Adcock 42 (43b), B. Mohr (rfm) 7.2-0-44-1

Boston Fire won by 26 runs

Tough matchup. Boston Fire has some monster youths in his squad and was shocked that only one was touring, thought I’d had some tour week luck but it wasn’t to be. Kept it pretty close for the most part but two of their stars were the difference in the end. We did a great job with the ball, only two bats got over 15 and only one got over 30 but unfortunately for me Kilpratrick was able to rescue their total with a massive 134. Were looking ok in the chase early but their fast bowler Irvine ripped through my middle order and it was game over despite some face saving tail wagging to get close-ish.

H. O'Brien 2 (8b), W. Howell (rws) 5.1-0-16-2

Blaze Of Glory won by 67 runs

Lost the toss and was asked to bowl which was unfortunate because it really wasn’t conditions I wanted to be chasing in. Got off to a good start with three wickets in the first ten overs but didn’t capitalise on it. Dropped catches killed me, dropped Imad on 21 who ended up making 97 and Piva on 10 who went on to make 40. They ended up seeing off the spells of my best two bowlers and their 109 run partnership took the game away from us. Took the last five wickets for 30 so think I had a good chance to restrict them to sub 150 if I’d taken either or both of those chances.

228 was always going to be way too much unless one of my batters went big and despite a fair few starts no one was able to get over 30 and we didn’t get close. Not a great loss to have, fall one game and a fair chunk of NRR behind Boscorp Now who won in a tight one today.

Turned out playing Quad on a sticky wicket nearly cost me the game. Being outrated in fielding and both aspects of the bowling I should of gone for a flat pitch and secured a safer win. (not as an upset but coz batting depth saved my game).
Next week is the end of the round against Salisbury Boys. There last performance will keep me on my toes.

Youth T20

End of over 14 (3 runs) - Boston Fire(79-2) RR 5.64
R. Bauer 24 (22b), D. Warwick 36 (36b), R. Adcock (rm) 2.4-0-19-0

Boston Fire won by 8 wickets

Played Boston Fire for the second time in a week and this time I didn’t even get close. Very favourable bowling conditions and they took full advantage and we were bowled out for an embarrassing 78. Fichardt’s 33 not out was the only player in our team to give any real fightback and even then he was dropped on 7. Could’ve been so much worse. They had no issues with the chase, at least we drew it out for a little so the NRR hit wasn’t too bad but it’s a performance that we’ll try and forget quickly.

Means we are 4-3 at the halfway point and in third position. Will take that if it stays that way by seasons end but it’ll be tight. Only NRR seperates 3rd, 4th and 5th, while 6th is just one game behind.

Golden Hacks CC won by 42 runs

Fairly comfortable win after a great batting performance saw us to 190. Could’ve been different if they’d have taken their chances early as both openers benefited from early lives. They gave a decent account in their chase but were always behind in the game.

I get to the halfway point at 6-1 and in top spot. Blaze of Glory (in particular) as well as Boscorp Cross and Tempest are on my tail which is a pretty great effort from them as they’ve been competing in this, SOD and the Cup. My early cup exit has given me the advantage of fielding stronger sides thus far so it would’ve been nice to build a bit more of a lead because I expect all three to finish strong on the back end.

Very comfortable win that moved us into second in T20 at the halfway mark. Hammers one win clear at the top. I've mainly been using T20 for experience this season, but with fatigue easing up I've been able to put some stronger players in. Next week is up against Hammers, so tempted to go in at full strength.

Had a tight loss in YOD V Staples. Needed 43 off the last 6 overs with 6 wickets in hand, but ended up collapsing and losing by 20 runs.

Up against 1st placed Boscorp in SOD today at home on Windy/Crumbling. I let go of 2 very experienced players during the week, so a couple of changes for my starting XI with Ferris replacing Meninga, Krog in for Patterson and Pacheco in for Thompson.

I am batting first.

Youths

End of over 40 (6 runs) - Golden Hacks CC(194-9). 7 runs required from 0 overs. RR 4.85 RRR 0.00
V. Johns 2 (1b), R. Adcock 49 (37b), R. Ryan (lfm) 8-0-38-0

Serial Killers won by 6 runs

Tough loss. Bowlers weren’t quite on and didn’t really have the bowling stock for a crumbling pitch and they put up 200. Didn’t look like getting close for the most part, had dropped to 6/112 when Adcock came in, but he went berserk and nearly stole the victory.

I am now 3-4. Sit fourth with a slight NRR advantage over fifth and sixth. Very worried about this league, it’s very high quality and there really isn’t any weak teams. Hopefully I can snag enough wins to stay up but would not be surprised if we ended up relegating.

End of over 41 (1 run) - Choda's Champions(201-10). 103 runs required from 9 overs. RR 4.90 RRR 11.44
A. De Knegt 20 (25b), T. Minton (rf) 9.3-0-60-6

Golden Hacks CC won by 102 runs

Surprisingly good batting performance in this one. Top three got starts but didn’t really go on with it, but Goosen at four didn’t let it slip with a brilliant 113 and with support from the middle order we were able to post just over 300. They were actually looking quite decent in reply, had got to 2/130 at drinks but after their set batsman were dismissed and with the RRR creeping up, the large total caught up with them and the innings ended pretty swiftly. Minton has had better bowling days for no rewards but cashed in today with an expensive six wicket haul.

Means I’m 5-2 at the halfway point. In third position, one game behind Boscorp Cross in first, same wins as Tempest but below on NRR and Blaze of Glory is a game behind in fourth but with a superior NRR. Happy with this position but as I said on Tuesday it’s been a remarkable effort from the other three who have had long cup runs and are still competing at the top of the leagues. Huge game next week against Tempest, I have two away again on NAT which isn’t too bad, hopefully he has a couple away as well.

End of over 20 (7 runs) - Golden Hacks CC(163-4) RR 8.15
A. Fichardt 80 (62b), S. Gray 9 (9b), R. Mordt (rf) 4-0-35-0

Golden Hacks CC won by 6 wickets

Came up against St Anne’s 2nd XI who were 0-7 before this game and it didn’t start well. They still have a good top order and they really took it to my bowlers, lead by 83 from their opener to score a well above par 162. Wasn’t an easy chase and was nervous as the RRR started climbing but fortunately Fichardt batted through the innings and we crossed the line on the last ball of the innings.

Fichardt hasn’t been dismissed in his last five innings now, 236 runs now without getting dismissed. Having himself a very good season.

Golden Hacks CC won by 25 runs

Never seem to play my best against Strand Honde, they have ‘upset’ me more than a few times over the past few seasons and my wins have been tight, including 3 run win in round 1. Didn’t get off to an ideal start with two wickets early, but 48 from my opener and then a late surge from number five and seven with 68 run partnership in the last eight overs to boost the total to 154.

Always looked in control with the ball, didn’t get many wickets but the RRR started getting pretty high relatively early. They hit pretty big in the last four overs to get fairly close.
