T20 Tour Game 1:

We lost the toss and were sent in by Ireland on an uneven pitch in the sunshine.

Hiddleston (32) and Chipperfield (38) got us off to a fast start, with 0/47 from the first 5 overs. We batted solidly but couldn't maintain the run rate, with Sibanda making 32 not out and all batsmen passing 20 on our way to 3/152 from our 20 overs.

Matema (3/24) and Allen (1/24) were economical as we worked our way to a strong position with Ireland needing 47 from the last 4 overs with 4 wickets down. Unfortunately, a half-century 5th wicket stand from their batsmen saw them home on the final ball of the match.

Next up we play Bermuda here https://www.fromthepavilion.org/gamedet ... Id=5472399

T20 Tour Game 2:

We won the toss and elected to field in cloudy weather on a hard pitch.

Mkhulululululululi (2/42) and Bothma (2/37) were the leading wicket takers as Bermuda scored 5/193 from their 20 overs.

Chipperfield (95*) guided us home with 6 balls to spare with good support from Van Wyk (43) and Keens (30).

We now sit 1-1 with a big game next up (2nd vs 3rd) against Pakistan here at 13:00ftp time https://www.fromthepavilion.org/gamedet ... Id=5472388

T20 Tour Game 3:

We won the toss and batted on a hard pitch in sunny weather.

All of our top order got a start, but only Keens (46) was able to pass 20 as we struggled to build partnerships. We finished with 9/153 from our 20 overs.

We started well with the ball, having Pakistan 2/28, however the target we set always seemed short as Pakistan made the runs from 18.3 overs with 5 wickets down. Matema was the pick of the bowlers with 3/31.

Next up we face Zimbabwe here https://www.fromthepavilion.org/gamedet ... Id=5472391

T20 Tour Game 4:

On a cloudy day, on an uneven pitch, we won the toss and sent Zimbabwe in to bat.

Von Schade (2/15) and Mkhulululululi (2/32) were the main wicket takers, as all bowlers performed well to restrict the opposition to 6/116.

After losing a wicket first ball, the batsmen took control through Hiddleston (33) and Chipperfield (61*) as we chased the runs down with 10 balls to spare.

We sit 4th on 2-2, but still have a chance to promote if we win against Canada, Ireland beat Pakistan and we can make up a small RR deficit in the process.

T20 Tour Game 5:

The toss went our way again and we decided to bat in windy/hard conditions.

Sir Athol Mudge in his final youth game scored a quick 35 to get us moving at the start, but runouts on consecutive balls and 2 wickets in the following over saw us slump to 4/54 from 8 overs. Wickets continued to fall as we struggled to 6/78 after 13 overs before Dirksen (42*) and Philpott (46*) took us to a defendable, if seemingly a little low, total of 6/157 from our 20 overs.

The Canadians were looking good before they were Kreusched (3/30) and then Philpotted (3/26) by our spinners, with the seamers providing economical support. We won the game by 20 runs - a great performance in the field.

Other results mean that we promote from Div 3 for the first time in a while and with what looks like a good bunch of 18-19yos coming through things are looking up for the team :thumbsup

Thanks to everyone who supported and provided players for the tour :thumbsup

You get plenty of views just no input. I'm not a discord user, is there much/any activity there in regards to SA?

It's pretty quiet generally, a bit more activity during tours. Hoping it will pick up over time :thumbsup

Thinking about organising some friendly tourneys next season to hopefully give it a boost

Quick update for those who haven't been following the U20 tour so far (why wouldn't you?!)

The big news is, we actually outrated a few sides!

Game 1 v UAE (Slow/Cloudy)
Bit of an up and down game, UAE elected to bat and started strongly at 104-2. Following the dismissal of the set batsmen, our bowlers really got on top and reduced them to 134-7. However very frustrating partnerships from the tail, including 30 from their number 10, got them to what seemed a decent total at 195ao.

We quickly lost Hiddleston in reply, however Darling stepped up with his maiden hundred, forming partnerships of 81, 70 and 33* with Nyamuzinga, Chipperfield and Sibanda respectively. This took us to our total with 7 overs to spare.

Star Performers: Darling (100*), Greve (10-0-35-3)

Game 2 v Kenya (Green/Sunny)
We won the toss this time and chose to bat. Our top order did not make the most of this however, after some very poor batting around drinks we found ourselves slipping from 87-2 to 95-5. Luckily we still had van Wyk at the crease, who put together a gritty partnership with Philpott to lay the foundation, and an explosive finish with Greve. We ended up posting a competitive total of 228-8.

In reply, our bowlers were all over the Kenyan batsmen like a rash. Only Moi (37) put up resistance, with a few very frustrating partnerships from their bowlers once the game was seemingly gone. Wickets fell at regular intervals, with the highest partnership of 51 coming for the 9th wicket. This took them from 96-8 to a respectable 162ao, and gave us a nice NRR boost which could come in handy later in the week.

Star Performers: Greve (61 & 7-1-18-1), Van Wyk (49), Philpott (6.3-1-13-4)

Tomorrow we face Zimbabwe which will be 2nd v 3rd in the division. India are top of the table, also unbeaten with 8 points and are facing 4th placed Kenya, so this is a key game for our promotion hopes.

Rest of the tour didn't happen :ninja

Really disappointing. Can't believe we didn't win one of those last 3 games! The pitch draw was tough and the humid weather made things even harder.

It's been a disappointing season for the OD tours but we got a promotion in t20.
On a more positive note, some good individual performances shows there is some promise of upcoming talent. I noticed a couple of 19yo featured this season with one being our only century scorer for the season and another bowler who in 6 OD matches took 7 wickets, 5 catches and 2 run outs.
All the best for next season.
