Justice League Avengers v Boston Fire (Green)
End of over 40 (9 runs) - Justice League Avengers(210-3) RR 5.25

Simmo's Drop Bears v Colony (Green)
End of over 40 (maiden) - Colony(192-10) RR 4.80

The Krack'd v bundy bashers (Green)
End of over 40 (2 runs) - The Krack'd(227-7) RR 5.67

Gazza Lyon's XI v Golden Hacks CC (Flat)
End of over 40 (7 runs) - Gazza Lyon's XI(255-5) RR 6.38

Windy weather for the Quarters of the SA Residents cup
The green pitches throw up slightly different scores
227 by my lads looks a good score
210 by JLA with his seam attack looks safe
192 by Colony agst Simmo may not be enough there
Gazza's 255 on a flat probably below par and will need to bowl well

Semi Final Time

Game 1
Home Simmo's Drop Bears (National Rank 6)
Away The Krack'd (National rank 2)
Ground Drop Bears Lair
Cup South African Residents Cup - Youths S5
Date 30 Dec 20 08:00
Crowd 2,829
Weather Cloudy
Pitch Hard

Saeson 2 winner Crowfan must be the favourites and should have around 15k in match ratings over Simmo. The only thing going for Simmo is the hard pitch not favouring Crowfans spinners.

Game 2
Match Details
Home Golden Hacks CC (National Rank 28)
Away Justice League Avengers (National Rank 1)
Ground Mukti Park
Cup South African Residents Cup - Youths S5
Date 30 Dec 20 08:00
Crowd 3,631
Weather Cloudy
Pitch Crumbling

Competition organizer Egan will have his work cut out for him playing the defending champions. I will probably outrate him by around 40k. Again the crumbling pitch does not favour the favourites who has a seam heavy attack but the JLA should have more than enough firepower to put them in a position to try and make it a double next week.

A. Warlock (lfm) 5-0-28-1, M. Johnstone 1 (2b), V. Carracher 14 (24b)
End of over 10 (7 runs) - Simmo's Drop Bears(50-1). 249 runs required from 30 overs. RR 5.00 RRR 8.30

T. Stark (rm) 1-0-11-0, C. Strydom 22 (30b), S. Gray 19 (31b)
End of over 10 (11 runs) - Golden Hacks CC(43-0). 166 runs required from 30 overs. RR 4.30 RRR 5.53

Both the favourites are in very good positions. I feel like my team is fighting outside its weight division. Happy with my start but my batting drops considerably after four, so a collapse is likely.

Toss: The Krack'd won the toss and elected to bat.

Weather Overcast
Pitch Flat

No surprise as the top two seeds make it to the final. The Krack'd survived one tight scare whilst Justice League Avengers has cruised through their side of the draw.

Should be a tight battle today and on a flat pitch, there will be a lot of runs.

End of over 26 (2 runs) - Justice League Avengers(136-3). 102 runs required from 14 overs. RR 5.23 RRR 7.29
R. Carago (lfs) 5-0-14-0, C. Kent 54 (62b), P. Parker 36 (42b)

Going to be pretty close. Great partnership from these two after being three for not many.

Edit:

End of over 27 (9 runs) - Justice League Avengers(145-4). 93 runs required from 13 overs. RR 5.37 RRR 7.15
J. Mullarky (rfm) 6-1-27-1, C. Kent 59 (65b), B. Wayne 3 (1b)

Jinxed it. Sorry Chris!

Match Ratings
The Krack'd Justice League Avengers

Batting - Middle Order 7,971 8,673
Batting - Tail 4,817 4,447
Bowling - Seam 7,623 (16) 9,175 (32)
Bowling - Spin 9,568 (24) 10,056 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 9,430 10,553
Overall 153,212 166,058

End of over 40 (4 runs) - Justice League Avengers(219-9). 19 runs required from 0 overs. RR 5.47 RRR 0.00
B. Allen 7 (11b), S. Rogers 15 (16b), B. Greene (lfm) 8-0-37-3

The Krack'd won by 18 runs

Great effort from The Krack’d to win their second title. Wasn’t convinced the 237 would be enough against that batting lineup but the early wickets got them on top and never really let up after that.

Justice League will be disappointed with their fielding effort. 5 dropped catches and Silvercloud and English made them pay.

Final: Blaze of Glory (1) vs Golden Hacks CC (2)

Blaze of Glory - 242 a.o. (48.4)

A. Dooland 59 (79)
G. Greene 53 (84)
T. Minton 5/44 (10)

Golden Hacks CC - 244/6 (38.2)

D. Ongarello 77 (72)
L. Smit 70 (80)
L. Royes 2/19 (5)

Golden Hacks CC won by 4 wickets (with 70 balls remaining)

Was pristine batting conditions for the final and Blaze of Glory were on the back foot early after losing three of their gun top order batsman in the first 11 balls all to Minton. Dooland and Greene did a little bit of a rescue job but went out before really getting them out of the hole and ended with a below par 242.

They fought back with the ball and had three wickets in the first 10 overs with Royes leading the way. But a 131 run partnership off 124 between Ongarello and Smit got the target well under control and a further 36 from Ratcliffe saw Golden Hacks home with a lot of time remaining.

Tyler Minton got the Man of the Match honours for his match turning opening spell, finishing with a five wicket haul.

Thanks to everyone for participating again. This will be coming back again next season, in fact I’ve already set up the Youth edition to start during round 5 of next season so start accepting those invitations.

I promised last season that I’d be more involved this season and post weekly roundups and what not, but I got lazy again and didn’t do it. Will try and be better next season. I find that these tournaments are more fun with a bit a banter and lots of community involvement, so I need to be better at providing an opportunity for that.

On an unrelated note. Who would be interested in joining a tipping comp for SOD next season if I set it up? I’d be happy to provide a small prize for the winner. The threads were pretty barren and would be happy to run something like this to give it a bit more life. Let me know if there is any interest for that.

Sounds good, I'd be in.

I need to post more often, I haven't really posted since I returned to the game a few seasons back.
