Down to the final eight. Mostly followed the script so far, with all the higher rating sides winning last round. Which means we are due for some upsets tomorrow.

Should be four quality matchups. Match of the Round looks to be between Simmo’s Drop Bears and The Far Side.

Nice win for me today against HH. Thought I was in a spot of bother after my bowlers had a shocker in the 2nd half of the innings leaving us chasing nearly 200. Made surprisingly light work of it against a quality bowling lineup though and through to a semi vs Crowy :party

Emirates Academy (5) v The Krack'd (1)

The Krack’d 152 a.o. (36.4)

B. DeWolf 66 (87)
A. Dhul 5/23 (8)
N. Abdulah 2/3 (2.4)

Emirates Academy 153/4 (30.3)

J. Fattah 66 (81)
G. Murat 51 (73)
B. Calusky 2/25 (7)

Emirates Academy won by 6 wickets (with 57 balls remaining)

The Krack’d won the toss and elected to bat first and got off to a great start with DeWolf making a valuable 66 and the captain English contributing 31. At 121/1 after 24 overs the defending champs looked well placed to score 200 and beyond but had a stunning collapse in the next 12.4 overs which saw them lose 9 wickets for just 31 runs. Dhul was the chief architect of the collapse with a four wicket maiden in 32nd over (including a hattrick) and completed his five in his following over. The Krack’d losing their last seven wickets for 5 runs.

Calusky took two early wickets early in the chase before Fattah and Murat teamed up for a 102 run partnership to take control of the chase and the Emirates Academy was able to see the win home in really convincing style.

The Far Side (6) vs Justice League Avengers (2)

Justice League Avengers 166/7 (40)

C. Barton 51 (72)
M. Batty 3/29 (8)

The Far Side 168/2 (36.1)

B. Gull 66 n.o. (104)
M. Langtree 49 (63)

The Far Side won by 8 wickets (with 23 balls remaining)

Justice League Avengers were sent in on a difficult batting surface after losing the toss and were immediately on the back foot with Batty striking in the first over. Barton combining with Haniff first and Booysen later, steadied the innings with a lovely 51 but the team struggled to score after their departures and quickly fell to 7/128, Batty starring with 3 wickets and a runout. A crucial late partnership dragged Justice League Avengers to 166 which they must have thought was defendable.

Gull and Langtree put that out of the question fairly thoroughly with a 89 run partnership that had them in total control of the game. Gull continued to play the anchor role throughout the innings and ended with 66 not out and the winning runs.

Final

The Far Side (6) vs Emirates Academy (5)

Date - 21 April, 2021 at 08:00
Pitch - Green
Weather (forecast) - Humid

Sets us up with an interesting final. Neither of these teams have made the final of this tournament previously so whatever occurs on Wednesday we will see a new Champion.

After two spin friendly pitches in the semi finals, a much more seam friendly pitch awaits the finalists. Both sides played three spin bowlers in their semi final victories and it will be interesting to see what changes are made to the teams for the upcoming battle.

Cheers Egan! Seaming pitch I think favours me a bit looking at the two sides, but I've only got 4 decent seam bowlers, not sure whether the 5th bowler will be a good spinner or a weaker seamer
