We would like to officially welcome jfam4 on board as an assistant in the U20's set up! He has been part of our internal discussions for most of last season so it's good to finally get him in. Welcome jfam :party

Congratulations Simmo on the deserved election win, best of luck for the next couple of seasons. I’m sure you guys will do a fantastic job. Commiserations to Boscorp who was a worthy and gracious election opponent.

Think you both showed great qualities over the past few weeks and the SA Nat teams are in good hands.

Thanks for the query about your players. The initial Nat squad selected at the start of the season is a tentative one until closer to the 1st tour in week 6. A lot can change with individual players training in that time so we review and adjust the squad accordingly so your players may well make the squad at that point. The fact that they are quality players and on the fringes is a sign of the quality and depth this season.

Rodney Magaya - We are blessed with a great bunch of seamers this season so it's a hard group to break into. We have 2 LFM already in the squad ahead of Magaya. Fitness is a long way ahead and has performed very well for us the last 2 seasons, and Rigaud who is only very slightly ahead of Magaya (mainly as an AR). If Magaya has another quick pop in Bowl and Tech before the 1st tour then his summary is a chance to then have him in consideration of being in the 30 man squad.

Dante Symonds - There are 3 Mediums in the squad ahead of him at this stage (2 of them LM's) but he is very close and is the next in line, especially with that NBB talent. If the tour pitches specifically suit mediums then he would no doubt find his way in quite easily and would likely tour. Again a Bowling and Tech pop soon would help his summary and his chances but overall he is a good player.

Stuart Mtukudzi - Being another LFM has him down the pecking order a bit unfortunately and given his low Power and Endo being a bit behind the others it puts him down the list. But as I say a lot can change in these weeks before the 1st tour and a pop or 2 here and there plus form changes can lead to fringe players looking better and having chance.

Dion Dirksen - Our top 10 batsmen this season are of great quality, spearheaded by your boy Kusano who is in his 3rd Nat season! Being a 19yo Dirksen is a fair way from that pack of players. He may challenge the group of 5 batsmen after those players to get into the 30 man squad but there is no chance he would be touring this season given what we have at our disposal. Being 19 his Endo is slightly behind the others and shy of the standard to tour also. Having said that he will definitely be in the squad next season and will be an important player for us.

I see all of those players are Homegrown and are great players. Thank you for providing such players and the others you have in both your squads. Some very good players among them :thumbsup

Hey Guys! I'm back with more updates on how our Youngsters are progressing.
This is a new season, so we have new requirements. Our squad this season looks much stronger than last, and this is reflected all the way down the age groups. For reference, here are the new requirements:
16YO: Squad: Reasonable Primary with Reasonable Technique and Average Fielding
16YO Fringe: Reaseasonable Primary with Average Technique or Average Primary with Reasonable Technique and Ordinary Fielding
17YO: Squad: Capable Primary with Capable Technique and Reasonable Fielding
17YO Fringe: Capable Primary with Reasonable Technique or Reasonable Primary with Capable Technique and Ave Fielding
18YO: Squad: Reliable Primary with Reliable Technique and Capable Fielding
18YO Fringe: Reliable Primary with Capable Technique or Reliable Primary with Capable Technique and Reasonable Fielding
19YO: Squad: Accomplished Primary with Accomplished Technique and Reliable Fielding
19YO Fringe: Accomplished Primary with Reliable Technique or Reliable Primary with Accomplished Technique and Capable Fielding

And here are the numbers:
16YO Youth Recruits with over $1,000 wage: 14
Our goal is to have more Youth Recruits with over $1,000 wage this season than we did last season. Our last season count was 46, so we're shooting for 47+!

16YO Players: 0 Batsman, 3 Fringe Bowlers (1x LFM, 1x RFM, 1x RWS)

17YO Players: 5 Fringe Batsman, 2 Squad Bowlers (2x RM) and 3 Fringe Bowlers (1x RFM, 2x RM)

18YO Players: 2 Squad Batsman, 8 Fringe Batsman (1 Keeper), 3 Squad Bowlers (1x RF, 2x RM), 5 Fringe Bowlers (1x RFM, 4x RFS)

19YO Players: 2 Squad Batsman, 6 Fringe Batsman, 2 Squad Bowlers (1x RM, 1x RFS), 5 Fringe Bowlers (2x LM, 3xRM)

It's very early in the season, and these requirements are very high, but there are a lot of players who will get into these categories as the season progresses. But then we would also like to increase these requirements as the season progresses and the players get training under their belts.
