Apologies, comms have been really poor from me since the World Cup as I've had a lot on my plate. Last week we had a One Day tour in England.

The squad was:
Bats:
Colin Eugene (Caribbean Pirates)
Lorenzo Gonsalves (Pakistani-champs)
Len Thomas (IBowlSwingers)
Lloyd Phillips (doobinator) DEBUT
Audrey Anthony (Nepali Gaints)
Richard Hibbert (Caribbean Pirates)
Earl Rickards (Batandball)
Dwayne Chang (Handford CC)
Winston Nunes (One Man Rock Band)

Bowlers:
Peter Griffin (Ohoka Swamphens)
Henry John (Mohammedan Sports Club)
Wilfred Austin (Direwolves)
Carl Beresford (John Peters Espionage PLC) DEBUT
Carlton McLeod (The Myldinal Squad)
Patrick McAuley (prada002)
Curtly Ambrose (North chennai crackers)
Edgar Outridge (Caribbean Pirates)
Mohammad Hinds (Wolfpack: $ V Gonna Rock $)

It wasn't the most successful tour as we struggled in div 1, winning 2 out of 5 matches, but sneaking survival on NRR after a loss to England on the final day. We'll look to build on this as we've now guaranteed OD World Cup qualification and remain in Div 1 for the next OD tour.

In other news we've appointed quirkilyalive as a new Nat assistant, he's fairly new to the game (as am I), but has a lot of time to spare and hopefully he will be a great addition to the team!

Sorry it has been more of the same. I'm involved in the pandemic response while also having my final university exams in March so it's been a bit busy.

This week we had the final OD tour of the season, we're reaching a little gap in quality with the team as we start to look a little younger due to a lack of 27/28 quality options. It ultimately ended up a disappointing tour, as we were relegated with 2 wins and 3 losses and a positive NRR. We were smashed by Kenya in game 1 before a mini resurgence with 2 good wins against England and India.

Games 4 and 5 just brought heartbreak as we performed well, got ourselves into a good position where you would expect a win and then just failed to deliver. We eventually lost to Bangladesh by 22 runs and Australia in the final game (to almost decide winning the title or relegation) we lost by 1 wicket. Devastating.

Apologies all, I'll try my best to keep up some communications as I have really let that slip. Hope everyone is well and the Windies will hopefully bounce back to Div 1 next season and give the fans something to celebrate at the World Cup.

The Semifinals and Finals will follow on Saturday and Sunday.

West Indies have been allotted Group 1 alongside Netherlands, Ireland, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India. They will be facing these sides on Sticky, Green, Uneven, Flat and Flat. Coming into this tournament as the winner of the previous marquee tournament in the T20 World Cup, West Indies Players and Management are rejuvenated to have yet another cup to celebrate. With the competition present in this group, facing the most recent Division 1 and Division 3 champions in India and Ireland, amongst other powerhouses, West Indies will have a tumultuous time on the field.

  • Colin Eugene: Caribbean Pirates right-hand bat
  • Curtly Ambrose: North chennai crackers right-arm fast
  • Dwayne Chang: Handford CC right-hand keeper bat
  • Edgar Outridge: Caribbean Pirates left-arm fast medium/right hand bat
  • Floyd Doctrove: Blaze Of Glory right-hand bat

World Cup Season 47 Summaries- West Indies Day 1
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=5617323
The World Cup campaign for West Indies kicked off today at 0500 FTP time, when they played Ireland in Pakistan in a clash that went down the wire. The conditions on hand, were a sticky pitch and quite a bit of humidity in the weather. Walking out as captain on his debut was Troy Joseph, alongside the Irish Captain Dion King and the match referees. Losing the toss, the West Indians were given the ball to start off the proceedings. An intense hour of play in the first 10 overs would've ended with Ireland a step ahead before quick Beresford got the first scalp leaving the Irish at 40/1. In a fitting manner, the player of the first half for West Indies was Troy Joseph getting 4 wickets, including the priceless scalp of the opposition captain leaking merely 14 runs.

The second half of play had West Indies seeking 134 runs, and facing the new ball against the Irish quicks was a daunting task. West Indies, at the end of 25 overs, were scoring at a healthy rate of 3.04 runs an over with 76 on the board, albeit having lost their top 5 batsmen. The spotlight yet again was on keeper Dwayne Chang, who has scripted enough performances to have his name celebrated in West Indian history. Alongside him were debutant Troy Joseph, followed by Outridge as the last recognised batsman. 15's from all 3 of them had swung West Indies as close to the target as the could get before Irish pacer Hugh O'Dwyer picked up his slack and got 4 wickets in his final spell leaving West Indies short by a run. It was a match that had enthralled the 13,000 folks in the stands, as this is the kind of cricketing action that better not be missed.

Captain Troy Joseph was announced as Player of the Match for his 4-14 and a quick 18(26).

Other Results in Group 1
India beat Bangladesh by 4 wickets.
Netherlands beat Sri Lanka by 86 runs.

Fixture on February 16
West Indies next face the mighty Sri Lankans on track with quite a healthy sprinkling of grass that predicts some healthy swing movement, and you'd want to bet your money on the best of slip fielders to not slip up for that tomorrow, as the bright sun will be out and shining on the stadium.
Thank you:)

World Cup Season 47 Summaries- West Indies Day 2
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=5617321
On the second day of the World Cup proceedings, West Indies faced Sri Lanka with Peter Griffin leading the way for them. After being put into bat, Imtiaz Whybrew shined with a 84-run knock, and Richard Hibbert and Len Thomas contributed with half-centuries as well, pushing West Indies to 299. 300 runs was always going to be a tough chase on the green top that had been presented, and West Indies started off their defence with the right intent.

Grabbing 2 wickets inside the powerplay left Sri Lanka in a bit of distress, but opener Ranjit Bowen continued his gritty stay. The game had turned in West Indies' favour when Patrick McAuley grabbed 2 wickets in an over to leave Sri Lanka hanging at 130/5. Despite their tail's best efforts, which included a mammoth 83(87) from Angelo Mathews, West Indies had an easy time controlling the requisite run rate, winning the game in the end by 47 runs.

With 1 win and 1 loss, West Indies currently stand at the third spot on the table.

Other Results in Group 1
India beat Ireland by 131 runs.
Netherlands beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets.

Fixture on February 17
West Indies next face Bangladesh, on an uneven deck, and under a forecasted strong passage of winds. The conditions seem quite bowler-friendly, but a decent knock from any batsmen can be game-changing.

World Cup Season 47 Summaries: West Indies Day 3
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=5617318
On Day 3 of the marquee tournament, West Indies were up against Bangladesh. On an uneven track, and under windy conditions, West Indian captain Troy Joseph put Bangladesh into bat. Bangladesh had 2 losses to their name batting first already, and despite the 188 they scored today being their highest score of the season thus far, it didn't prove to be enough. West Indian Seamer Wilfred Austin led the attack and grabbed 4 scalps.

In pursuit of 189, West Indies seemed to dwindle their chances after a poor powerplay ending at 27/1. The situation stayed troublesome and left West Indies at 85/4. Such pressure was well combated by West Indian batsmen Colin Eugene and Richard Hibbert with aggression and positive intent when they got a hundred-run stand amongst themselves at a healthy strike rate of 85 apiece. Bangladesh did break this partnership, but it was all too late, as West Indies finished off this chase with 39 balls to spare.

West Indies, currently standing at the third spot, have a momentous task ahead of themselves facing the top two sides in India and Netherlands in the final two games in a contest for the final spot.

Other Results in Group 1
India beat Netherlands by 4 wickets.
Sri Lanka beat Ireland by 107 runs.

Fixture on February 18
West Indies will be facing India in their next match. The game would be held under clouds, but the chances of any precipitation are low. The track prepared for it is described as flat and a heavy run-fest seems to be the expectation out of the game.

World Cup Season 47 Summaries: Day 4
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=5617320
On a flat deck, and under cloudy weather, West Indies were put into bat by the Indian captain. Colin Eugene and Floyd Doctrove led the West Indian batting effort as their 90's carried them to 317. On a flat deck, this score had given West Indies a decent shot at defending the score, but table-toppers India's batting line-up was quite overpowering for West Indies.

In the chase, Carl Beresford got an early wicket and introduced a rampage on the field. Indian batsman Mandeep Dadawala scored a massive 148 and won India the match. Despite the best of efforts from the West Indian bowlers and fielders, the magical innings was just too much for them to conquer.

West Indies have fallen to the fourth spot after the loss, and are currently contesting Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Ireland for the second semi-final spot, after India have already qualified.

Scenario for West Indies Qualification
West Indies need to beat Netherlands and hope that Sri Lanka, either lose to India or despite their win do not beat West Indies on NRR to qualify. Also, important is that Ireland do not beat Bangladesh by a devastatingly large margin as there net run rate is very low currently, but a large victory might give them the necessary boost.

Other Results in Group 1
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 79 runs.
Ireland beat Netherlands by 5 wickets.

Fixture on February 19
West Indies face Netherlands in what is virtually a knockout match between the 2 teams. The game is played on another flat deck and under sunny weather.

World Cup Season 47 Summaries: West Indies Day 5
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=5617315
On their final day of the tourney, West Indies were set to face Netherlands whilst wrestling the second semi-final spot from Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Ireland. After electing to bat first under flat-sunny conditions, captain Imtiaz Whybrew and keeper Winston Nunes started off with fantastic half-centuries, and despite losing 3 wickets in a whiff after that, Dwayne Chang restabilized the innings with a 58(54) getting his team to 249/5. What ensued ahead was pure chaos as West Indies lost the final 5 wickets in the duration of 15 runs, wrapping their innings up at a bare 264.

In the chase, Netherlands started off aggressive, and despite losing both of their openers, they seemed to go steady at 64 in 10 overs. After which Dutch Captain Jaap Mjinke turned out to have West Indies' kryptonite. He smashed as many as nine boundaries in his 115 run inning to chase down 265 in 42 overs.

West Indies finished 4th on the table after Netherlands qualified on the back of their victory against them. Sri Lanka had a decent shot at qualification as well, but they weren't able to leap the net run rate the Dutch had won.

Other Results in Group 1
Bangladesh beat Ireland by 8 wickets.
Sri Lanka beat India by 66 runs.

Fixtures on February 20
Australia will face Netherlands, and India would be up against the Kiwis in the two semifinals beginning at 0500 FTP time.

West Indies bow out of the tourney with a rather disappointing end, but the tournament sure had a few finds and a few players giving decent performances on the field, and their performances shall be rejoiced.

Highest Fantasy Point Winner from West Indies: Troy Joseph (217 points)
Highest Run Scorer from West Indies: Colin Eugene (172 runs), closely followed by Floyd Doctrove (166 runs)
Highest Wicket Taker from West Indies: Wilfred Austin (8 wickets)
Best West Indian fielder: Imtiaz Whybrew (2 catches and a runout)

Thank you:)

ANNOUNCEMENT

We're excited to announce that MmmmToast will be joining the Windies management team, he's new to the nat scene but has been following the Windies since arriving on FTP. He'll be helping with all the different roles in nat management and hopefully learning a lot in the new role! I hope everyone's season has started well and that we've had some amazing Windies youth recruits.

Thanks all for voting for me (and mainly us - as the whole team) in a close contest against nobody... in the Nat Elections, I appreciate the support, hopefully you're not all too sad to be stuck with us for another 2 seasons.

Finally, a lot of players recently left the team, and as manager I'd like to start a new "Team of the Season" report at the end of each season - partly as a reminder of those players we've sadly lost to retirement :( I'll be posting the season 46 TOTS in a few weeks when I've finished my exams - sorry it will be late, but hope everyone enjoys the new idea!

West Indies: One Day Tour 1 (March 22-26)
West Indies, currently placed in Division 2, are under preparations for the first tour of the season, and after the re-election of Maiden50 and the management. The fixtures, and expected pitches for the tournament were announced.

West Indies have taken on the hosting rights for the season, and the pitches prepared are Dry, Flat and Hard. Being placed alongside the current World Cup Champions in Netherlands, and the semifinalists in Australia, West Indies have themselves in for quite some competition. Also competing against them are Ireland, who beat them in their most recent outing at the World Cup, Sri Lanka, who almost qualified for the semifinals themselves, but lost to the eventual winners, Netherlands, on NRR, and the United Arab Emirates who, despite failing to qualify for the previous World Cup, have always been a side to fear on their day. West Indies, currently have had quite a few legends depart from the side, and will be looking to breed in some young blood to fill the big shoes. The squad will be announced in the near-future.

In preparations for this, West Indies will be playing a few friendlies in the two weeks leading up to the tour beginning on the twenty-second of March, and we are hoping for a few fruitful and hopeful performances. Here are the links, if anybody wishes to follow them, alongside us.

vs Scotland; March 10; 1500 FTP Time
vs Scotland; March 13; 1130 FTP Time
vs Pakistan; March 17; 0500 FTP Time
vs Netherlands; March 20; 1130 FTP Time
