Its a nice start indeed.
It looks like Ireland may have been caught out by the weather switching windy->overcast-> windy since they have 5 seamers bowling - our 2 wristspinners will hopefully make the difference here.

bit of a slowdown after over 20, but still managed 175/1.
That big first innings partnership of 157 between Waranapura and Irfahan helping us to aim for 350 or even more.

Yes very helpful of them to play 5 seamers and 0 spinners. If we get over 300 I think that will be too many for them. At the moment we’re on course for 350.

375 runs on the board and a massive 189no from one of your old boys, Les.
This should be a defendable total potentially with some leftover for a healthy start to NRR.

update: 142 run victory with Irfahan topscoring with that 189* and Kuruppu (rf) pick of the bowlers with 5-33.
13k behind on ratings, but that's mostly due to not playing a true allrounder...turns out we didn't need one.

How's that for a first game?

Always nice to get a big win in game 1. Game 2 windy/flat although it’s unlikely irfahan will feature

6 changes for today's game against Australia with yesterday's heroes resting apart from 5-for star Kuruppu.
Australia won the toss and predictably decided to bat first on a flat pitch after yesterday's big scores on hard/windy.

On Les's advice we packed in the spinners to take advantage of the windy weather.
So far so good actually with the spinners keeping the scoring relatively low and pitching in 2 wickets along with Kuruppu's breakthrough to have Aus at 92/3.

35.6.El Toro to Hay : [dropped] Vethanayagam is furious with himself for missing a relatively straight-forward edge behind. El Toro is somewhat less pleased.

i mean wtf! does he have flora tubs for gloves or something?

36.6.Ajireen to Hay : [dropped] Hay plays the cut and gets a bottom edge. The deflection is just enough to cause Vethanayagam to grass a tough chance.

we managed 99 for the first wicket in response.
At the 19over mark that puts us about 10 runs and 2 wickets ahead of where Australia were.
They did kick on from here though.
