Great win over India to jump into 2nd place with a game to go.
Really need things to go right on the last day beating NZ and hoping India don't pile on a big victory over Kenya.
It will be tough but its possible. :thumbsup
Definitely tough! Definitely Possible!

1st tour of the week in summary!

We didnt get promoted and we didnt get demoted. I suppose goal acheived.... but not at the same time.

I would like to thank my assistants Angolvagyok and Chezza for their help and assistance this tour. It was a pure team effort and you can only be as good as the team behind you.

We finished 2-3 but it is definitely the tour that got away from us.

Match 1: USA U20
Extremely disappointed to be 1/127 and lose 9/50.
Lost by 6 wickets with Nishantha Andrahennadee the pick of our players with 63 from 84 balls opening the batting and 1/34 in reply.
This would come back to haunt us as a win here would've resulted in promotion.

Match 2: Australia U20
Lost by only the 1 wicket against the eventual winners but it was a case of too little too late with 3 wickets falling in the final 8 balls.
Premalal Otali with 68 from 101 balls leading us to 9/208

Match 3: Kenya U20
Easy win in the scheme of things outrating them by a significant amount and taking it by 9 wickets.
All round team performance with all players contributing in some way and getting a big NRR boost

Match 4: India U20
The decisive match of the tournament with a loss meaning almost relegation and a win meaning almost promotion.
Took it easy in the end taking advantage of India's Selection blunders and winning by 6 wickets
Good team performance again after falling to 2/3 with Romesh Coskerie hitting 69 from 127 and steadying the ship

Match 5: New Zealand U20
We were no match to the might of New Zealand falling short by 52 runs.
Our bowlers performed admirably with bowling New Zealand out for a well below par score however our batsman were no opposition to their quality spin bowlers with Aamir top scoring of 33.
Douglas Makkin Salih took the man of the match honours to show how good our bowling performance was with 4/34

Player of the tournament:
Douglas Makkin Salih - 3 matches 8/99

I would also like to thank the following players and managers for their support and contribution to the Sri Lanka U20 team as the now turn 21 and move up to the seniors:
Romesh Indrajith - Maps
Douglas Makkin Salih - Bura
Padman Dabare - hansie
Anura Sivanantham - Les
Chandrasiri Duwage - rabbitohbill

We now move our attention to the first Twenty20 tour of the tournament.

As well as this for those based in Sri Lanka, the Youth cup invites have been sent out. Please respond accordingly.

Finally, as always where possible, recruit Sri Lankan... We are in serious need of WS at this stage

With the OD tours finished we now move into the T20 portion of the competition as we set ourselves up for a hopefully tour promotion and warm up for the T20 WC at EOS

We will be facing the Bermuda U20 team today.

It will be Flat/Cloudy conditions which helps us to look at our Seam attack with matches in Hard, Uneven & Flat conditions at the next tour

The match will be played at 05:30 and can be followed below

https://www.fromthepavilion.org/gamedet ... Id=5615632

The lineup for todays match consists of the following players:

Bandula Aamir
Premalal Otali
Porsche May - (up the order for you Les, maybe he'll score more than 10)
Wijaya Raheem
Hashan Premadasa
Dilum Rajakaruna
Nishantha Andrahennadee
Jayantha Ariff
Ukkuwa Saverymuthapulle
Nishantha Bibee
Baba Jaldeen

After a good win on Saturday against Bangladesh U20 hopefully we can follow this up with another win today.

My team appreciates your support and we thank you for the use of your players.

If you wish to support SL U20 in anyway... like a broken record. We are still in need of 16 YR, primarily Wrist Spin Bowlers.

The second tour is upon us (first t20) and we are travelling to Scotland.

We the pitches we have received are Flat, Hard, Uneven, Uneven, Flat

The following players are lucky enough to have received a ticket to the flight

Only 1 player on this tour will miss the next tour.

The obvious goal is promotion however, these pitches will expose our weaknesses with seam bowling as we have quite a young inexperienced seam attack.

We would like to thank all managers for their support in training Sri Lankan youth players and appreciate all managers loaning their players to us for the 5 day tour.

Saw that one, good pull. Thank you.

I would recommend fielding to Reliable and then bowl/bowl tech the rest of the way!

Bit risky only taking 6 batsmen with flat and hard as the main pitches :?

T20 Fatigue is significantly easier to mange... too easy, we also got 2 uneven pitches.

Preferred the bowling variety

A great start by Sri Lanka U20 in their tour match against Ireland U20.

After sending Ireland into bat and dominating the bowlers, insert Nishantha Bibee.

The OBB fast bowler pulled out a magnificent spell of fast bowling to help restrict Ireland to 165 in great batting conditions.

In response the batsman continued to chip away at the score never letting the NRR get out of hand and we chased the total down with 3 balls to spare.

Wijaya Raheem was a key contributor hitting the winning runs and scoring 48* from 28 balls.

Ireland U20 Sri Lanka U20
Batting - Top Order 10,357 10,311
Batting - Middle Order 8,157 6,753
Batting - Tail 3,319 3,643
Bowling - Seam 9,777 (16) 9,315 (16)
Bowling - Spin 9,952 (4) 10,362 (4)
Fielding/Keeping 9,964 11,012
Overall 162,969 159,851

Sri Lanka U20 won by 4 wickets

We now face Scotland U20 in Cloudy/Hard conditions.

We sent Scotland U20 in and what a decision it was, 6 overs in we had them reeling at 4/34 with NBB Baba Jaldeen taking 2 of the early wickets.

Whilst we didnt bowl them out we kept them to a sub par 137 from 20 overs in Hard/Cloudy conditions.

In response there was never a challenge. The score was chased down in 16.1 overs with Premalal Otali hitting 60* from 36 balls

Scotland U20 Sri Lanka U20
Batting - Top Order 9,741 9,888
Batting - Middle Order 7,672 7,862
Batting - Tail 5,123 3,610
Bowling - Seam 8,909 (12) 8,873 (16)
Bowling - Spin 9,033 (8) 10,256 (4)
Fielding/Keeping 11,014 10,734
Overall 162,866 159,783

Sri Lanka U20 won by 7 wickets

After this win is not only means we now sit top of Twenty 20 Div 2, we have also qualified for the T20 World Cup at the end of the season.

We now face South Africa U20 with a win here putting promotion well within our grasp.

I(n the last 2 days we have faced South Africa & UAE U20 teams in our T20 tour.

Against South Africa we posted a competitive total of 3/143 in Uneven/Cloudy conditions with Bandula Aamir scoring 66*.

Unfortunately due to poor bowling and a crucial dropped catch we allowed South Africa to chase down the total with Abraham Mbangwa scoring 80*

South Africa U20 won by 5 wickets

Yesterday we faced UAE U20 positing a very strong 2/162 in Windy/Uneven conditions with Premalal Otali hitting 98 from 69 balls.

Unfortunately as we expected in this tour, seam pitches are not our strength and our bowlers allowed UAE to tie the game with a runout on the final ball.

We are now sitting 2nd with a strong NRR

What this means is coming into the final game against Bangladesh we could finish first.... or 5th.

Crunch time! However, it is all in our own hands. Win and we get promoted to Div 1, lose and we should survive due to a comfortable NRR!

Please follow the game below

In what turned out to be a bit of a fizzer. Bangladesh didnt set orders for their final match.

This meant we chased down their total with 4 overs remaining.

I could go into detail but really, it was an easy victory by 9 wickets.

Jayantha Ariff being man of the match taking 4 wickets to keep the chasing total low.

<strong>Due to this Sri Lanka U20 have managed the following</strong>
- T20 Division 2 victory
- Promotion to Division 1
- Qualification to this seasons World Cup and likely the next T20 World Cup

This was a whole team performance and I thank my 2 assistants for the work they did this tour.

We now move onto tour 3 of the season and we have won hosting rights with the goal of promotion to Division 1.

Finally, I would like to offer a public apology to Lesvosace and my handling of his player Sarath Shiromi. I never intend to take players on tour and have them not play 1 match, unfortunately this has occurred and I intend to make it up to him at the next tour.
