It was more of whether to take Matin instead! We all know he gets belted on flat and hard tracks...
No 29yos this tour. :P

In what were unfavourable match times and quite possibly unfavourable conditions, we came out and just missed promotion again finishing 2nd with 4 wins and 1 loss.
After the loss in the first match to eventual promotees NZ, promotion was never really considered a possibility with NZ being one of the better touring sides. We rode our luck and came away with 4 straights wins to finish the tour and the season.

This season we narrowly missed out on promotion each time finishing 2nd, 3rd and 2nd with 10 wins and 5 losses. The first time this Bangladesh Senior team has produced 10 wins in a season (3x 5 match tours) and the best win%. Looking for something similar next season as our core 25yo team become a year older.

There hasn't been much said here with the introduction of the offsite at the start of the season, but the next item on agenda for the Senior team is the World Cup.

The team has had a decent 2 seasons which saw vast improvements from when I took over, it couldn't be much worse than it was. Over the last 2 seasons we have won 20 of the 30 matches (sits equal with England and Australia as the most) and 14 of the 20 Nat. OD matches (the most of all teams). The team will play in both Division 1 leagues for the first time in the Senior competition next season for the start of the World Cup qualifications. In each of the tours this season we achieved promotion, while last season we just missed out by 1 position each time. The last one was secured today in Division 2 even with the disappointing match today to finish the tour on (largely due to the fielding ...). This is despite touring with one of the youngest squads with only 4 28+ year olds worthy to be in the current squad.

I will not be continuing on next season as National Manager, I won't apply for re-election after the World Cup – my job is done for the manager in waiting. I am confident any manager could have done what has been achieved in the last 2 seasons or even better with the same amount of luck that we have had. It is quite a unique set of players that will only continue to get better and break the 250k match ratings some time next season.

The season summary for Bangladesh is as follows (more can be seen on the offsite or association):

Season 18:
Nat One Day 3: 2nd – 3 Wins, 2 Losses
  • Avg MR: 217,108 Max MR: 225,596
Nat Twenty20 2: 3rd – 3 Wins, 2 Losses
  • Avg MR: 224,668 Max MR: 228,147
Nat One Day 3: 2nd – 4 Wins, 1 Loss
  • Avg MR: 228,092 Max MR: 237,780
Season 19:
Nat One Day 3 (H): 2nd – 4 Wins, 1 Loss
  • Avg MR: 223,825 Max MR: 232,030
Nat Twenty20 2 (H): 2nd – 3 Wins, 2 Losses
  • Avg MR: 225,867 Max MR: 237,144
Nat One Day 2: 1st – 3 Wins, 2 Losses
  • Avg MR: 230,460 Max MR: 238,227
I hope I can sign off with a positive World Cup campaign which starts in 3 weeks. Thanks to all who have shown interest in the Bangladesh Senior team.

No real surprise we have the youngest touring squad (even younger than our last WC touring squad) that is set to peak in 2 seasons. The batting will need to fire with those pitches and the bowling is very much capable of taking wickets.

Well, what can you say, it has been a disappointing week, outlucked and outclassed. It has been as bad this week as we have been good in our 3 promotions, thankfully it happened in a World Cup and not in any one of the tours! No promotions, no relegations, no affect on rankings, in the same boat as 9 other teams missing out on a potential 3 bonus matches. We haven't got anything to play for in the last 2 matches, anything could happen, will pass the duties onto someone else.

Losing the toss in the first 2 matches were crucial and hammered today against a clinical Pakistan - 3 substantial losses. The batting has suffered and nothing really has been changed, the opposition has probably improved for this week compared to the tours, but you can't expect anything with such a random nature.

On a positive note, only Mcleod has certainly played his last match and World Cup with all other 17 in contention for the next World Cup should we make it. I'm not sure how many other teams can say that, but we've just hit the peak now and ready for Division 1 leagues in a few weeks time. I do expect a number of younger players to break into the squad very soon to keep the team progressing through many seasons.

Time for a little break before a lengthy holiday.

Today we just have done our second SOD tour after a successful T20 campaign. And we are now very close to qualify to the WC. But still need one more league to confirm that. Just quite unlucky that we lost against Canada while chasing only 176 on hard pitch and short by 3 runs or this series could be ours. I think that day was one of the most unluckiest day for me in FTP. But after losing the first two matches, we have come back strongly by wining next three and secured the div2 stay :)

Good work parvez, and very unlucky in the defeat to Canada.

With the ratings we achieved, I think 3rd place was an excellent result and staying in division 2 sets us up nicely for WC qualification.

Ajit Dev has probably been the best player for the u19s this season, so hoping he has a great World Cup. Looking forward to some of your monster 16 & 17 yr old players coming through.

Yes hopefully Ajit will be very economical like before :)

I'm little disappointed to see the current u19 results. Now the next manager has a big task to move upwards of the division or my 17y players and other bd nats can miss the opportunity to play in the WC. Next two u19 OD tours will be very crucial, atleast a promotion to div2 is must needed within next season. Thats why I'll definately request Turbz to participate in the upcoming u19 election. Because we need an experienced person there.
