Game 3 vs West Indies in Crumbling/Overcast conditions.

Lost the toss for the 3rd time in a row and sent in to bat first.
Openers made a decent start but just like last game we suffered another collapse and barely limped our way to 99 all out in the complete 20 overs.
Top scorer was our seamer Ishan Sen with 25 runs.

We picked up 2 early wickets and it looked like game on, but then the WI middle order put on a couple of good partnerships which took the game away from us and we slumped to a 6 wicket loss.
Pick of the bowlers and Player of the Day was Ishan Sen for picking up 2 wickets and for an all-round performance on his NAT debut.

Game 4 vs Canada in Uneven/Windy conditions

4 out of 4 tosses lost and were sent in to bat first.
The batting crumbled yet again and we were all out for just 90.
Top scorers were Sachin Nayak and Dishant Ganguly with 14 runs each.

Canada cruised to a comfortable 7 wicket win in the chase as none of our bowlers were threatening.
Ishant Patankar was the pick of the bowlers and our Player of the Day for his bowling figures of 3.3-0-6-1.

Final T20 World Cup for us was against the USA in Slow/Windy conditions.

First time in the tour we won the toss and we picked to bat first.
Once again the batting did not click, however Zahed Bishwash scored a fine 51 from just 37 balls and ensured that we at least batted out the 20 overs for the first time in the tour, getting us to 111/8.

Unfortunately I made a mishap in the bowling orders due to us having 2 players with the exact same first name but one was a bowler and the other a bat, so I mistakenly had the bat bowl 2 overs and he went for 15.
We did bowl really well to start off and had them at 74/7, but it was due to my error for which I take full responsibility that they got some momentum back and carried it through despite our best efforts, as even though we managed to take it to the last over, they managed a narrow 3 wicket win.
Ishan Sen got 3 wickets but the pick of the bowlers was Ishant Patankar for his economical figures of 4-0-9-2 which had us briefly on top.

Player of the Day is a tough one for this game but it will be shared between Zahed Bishwash and Ishant Patankar for their contributions with bat and ball respectively.

Game 1 vs NZ in Slow/Sunny conditions

NZ won the toss and batted first.
A good bowling performance by all of our bowlers kept up the pressure on them and they were all out for just 144 with all our bowlers picking up at least 1 wicket each.
Asif Rafique and Karanveer Srinath picked up 3 wickets each.

Our chase started off well and the middle order built on the openers' foundation to guide us home to a 6 wicket win, with Bipul Dhawan the top scorer, scoring 44 runs.

Player of the Day is shared between Asif Rafique and Karanveer Srinath.

Game 2 vs SL in Dry/Sunny conditions.

SL won the toss and batted first.
Sri Lankan batters started well and were able to build good partnerships which got them to 268/6.
Our bowlers had a struggle overall and Liton Aziz was the pick with economical figures of 10-0-41-0.

Our top order gave us another good start but the rest of the team folded cheaply, collapsing from 119/2 to 157 all out, resulting in a huge 111 run loss which saw our NRR plummet.
Top scorer was Arafat Das with 63.

Game 3 we suffered a 6 wicket loss to the West Indies which had in trouble on the points table as we slipped down to 5th place.
We were dismissed for 181 and Sachin Nayak top scored with 94 but he barely had any support.
Karanveer Srinath got two early breakthroughs but we could not capitalize on them.

Game 4 against the UAE saw Ravi Chawla get his maiden ODI hundred as we top scored with a fantastic 122 and some quick runs by Sreesanth Singh (41) saw us get to 242/9 in the 50 overs.
They had a good opening partnership but our bowlers managed to make inroads this time and got us a good 114 run win which improved our survival hopes.
From the bowlers Sreesanth Prasad and Santosh Gupta picked up 3 wickets each.

Game 5 vs Scotland saw us get 242 runs once again but at the expense of 8 wickets. Arafat Das top scored with 73 and Bipul Dhawan provided good support with 61.
Bowlers did not allow them to settle and it was only due to some late order hitting that we could not get a higher margin of victory, but that being said we still did an amazing job in getting a 99 run win and finishing with 3 wins out of 5 and joint second place on the table.
Sreesanth Prasad and Shamsul Haider were the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets each.

Faced Zimbabwe in Crumbling/Hot conditions for our opening game.

We lost the toss and were put in to bat first.

Our first 10 overs went really well with us scoring 70 but the next 10 saw us slow down as wickets started to fall and we only ended up with 137/7. It was disappointing to see us not kick on and accelerate in the end overs.
Ravi Chawla top scored with 43.
We had a good start with the ball and had them at 42/5 at which point it would have felt that the game was ours, however, the remaining Zimbabwe pair had other ideas and built an impressive 95 run partnership with left Liton Aziz only 7 runs to defend, which he did a valiant job doing but they managed a single off the last ball to win by 4 wickets.

Game 2 vs Scotland in Crumbling/Hot conditions.

We won the toss and bowled first.
A great bowling performance which saw all bowlers pick up at least 1 wicket each and concede a ER of 5 or less saw the opposition bowled out for just 72. Pick of the bowlers were Aminul Azam and Santosh Gupta, both of whom picked up 2 wickets each but went at only ERs of 2.75 and 2.57 respectively.

The target was small but we also lost regular wickets, after which thankfully Arafat Das and Vinay Chopra steadied the ship and ensured that we got over the line without losing anymore wickets and earn a crucial 6 wicket win.
Arafat Das top scored with 27 but our Player of the Day goes to Shamsul Haider for picking up the 2 crucial wickets of their batters who got starts and threatened to build a recovery, as those 2 wickets opened the game for us and prevented them from consolidating runs.

To finish off the write-up of the T20 tour:

We beat Bermuda by 22 runs as we defended 168, Sachin Nayak top scored with 74 and was our Player of the Day while Ishant Patankar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-22-2.

We lost to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets as we could only score 130/5 which they easily chased. Karim Ahmed top scored with 52 but we could and should have scored more considering we had wickets in hand. Liton Aziz was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-27-2 but Player of the Day was Saiful Bishwash as he scored a quick 38 and picked up a wicket. This loss meant we faced a must-win game against Kenya for promotion.

Final tour game vs Kenya, they made a flying start with the bat but we managed to make great inroads as we were able to get them from 39/0 to 100 all out with Santosh Gupta being the pick of the bowlers as he got figures of 4-0-25-4. Our chase started well and despite losing a few wickets, we were well-placed at 88/4 to get what would seem like a straight-forward win. What followed next can only be described as a horror collapse of epic proportions as we slipped to 95/9, losing 5 wickets for just 7 runs with the last batting pair (who were both bowlers) needing to score 6 runs from 7 balls. 2 dot balls and 3 singles in the last over meant that we needed to score 2 runs off the last ball of the match to win and promote. Thankfully Ishan Sen kept his cool as he stood tall and punched off the back foot through the covers to guide us home to a narrow 1 wicket win and promotion. Player of the Day was Ishan Sen for picking up 2 wickets and seeing us home in the chase.

We won 3 games and promoted due to having a superior NRR over Kenya and Scotland.

Hello and welcome to the match summary of the opening match of team Bangladesh on the International Div 1 tour, held in India, Dec 2023.

Our opening match was against the host nation, India, at Eden Gardens in the presence of 28,446 fans cheering for some exciting cricket. The Pitch prepared on the occasion was Hard, and the weather remained Cloudy especially during the early hours of the day.

India won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was not met by an ideal start, as Aziz sent back both the Indian openers in the 2nd over itself. To add to the horror, Raina had a slip trying to run 2 and got himself runout. Very soon Naik, RF on his debut for Bangladesh, picked incredible 2 wickets in his 2nd over. In just 10 overs, half of the Indian side was back to the pavilion with just 44 on the scoreboard.

Indian batsman started consolidating, and added a 50 run partnership. Bangladesh broke the partnership soon, as Jaffery fell short of his fifty, went on 45. But Ravuri reached his 50 before the drinks, where India stood 129/6. After after the drinks, Ravuri got himself stumped. From 134/7 to 205 all out, the tail tried to provide India some chance when they come out to bowl.

Chasing 206, Bangladesh had a cautious start, but lost Das on 29. Followed by Chawla when scoreboard read 35. Then Nayak and Singh took charge and added solid 50 runs. Things were looking good, alas Singh departed on 45, Jaffery who early had gotten out on 45 as well, had a satisfaction on his face after he took Singh's catch. Nonetheless Nayak scored a brilliant 50 and was part of another 50 runs partnership, this time with Prasad.

With 33 needed in 17 overs and 7 wickets in hand, Bangladesh should have cruised from here. But things were about to get dramatic as one wicket is all it takes to swing the momentum. 1 wicket was followed by a couple and in no matter of time we lost 5 wickets in quick succession. Babariya, RF, picked a 5fer, and ended up taking 6 in total. The scoreboard was now 194/8, 11 needed in 12 overs, 2 wickets in hand.

Eventually, Bangladesh won the match by 2 wickets. A promising start to the tour.

Pick of the bowlers were Aziz and Naik who picked 3 each, and did the early damage.
Nayak with 2 stumpings and 65 runs would be my pick for Man of the match.

Summary for Game 2

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl.

After winning the Toss, we sent UAE in to bat in Sunny/Hard conditions.

We started very well having the UAE 3 down for 52 in the first 10 overs. UAE then began to steady the ship in the next 10, not losing a wicket. The run rate was always going to be relatively high in these conditions with the UAE doing well to consistently have it above 5 runs an over. A good partnership between Capone and Lahab of 80 runs steadied the UAE and an additional 77 runs between Razzaq and Habib allowed them to post a semi-decent score of 251. In the end, we bowled well and bowled the UAE out. Arman was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets! 2 wickets each also going to Sen, Naik and Gupta.

In response, we did not have a great start, losing Das in the first over. However, from there we looked relatively unfazed. A great partnership of 87 between Chopra and Ahmed set us up for success. I just wanted to highlight that all batting partnerships (aside from the openers) were above 35 runs which realistically set us up nicely. Singh topped scored for us with 76 (74) and notable mentions to Ahmed 59 (65) and Chopra 44 (55). In the end, we reached the target of 252 with 8 overs to spare and 5 wickets in hand. Nice to us us avoid a collapse!
