I know Chepu......

We played South Africa today and as we expected we lost but put up a great fight. The plan is to promote and this means protecting some players so we played 2 spinners so that we have an armoury for the coming matches.

Onwards and upwards

Another tight game today against Ireland....we got away with another win. :dance

Some great tight bowling by all the bowlers followed up by 72 from Mlambo, 53 from "Richard" and a winning partnership from Oleary and B Mujuru.

Great effort all tour so far by the team,,, 3 out of 4....see if we can get 4 out 5 and see what happens

Well thats the end of another tour where we flattered to decisive. Disappointed with 3 wins out of 5 again and other results always going against us....

We couldnt get a partnership going today even though we had a strong and deep batting lineup who have all delivered at one time or another this week. Unfortunately none of them turned up against a very good bowling display by Kenya.

We did try and affect the NRR by batting first, was this a mistake? We had a better rated team in all departments....puzzled.

We are lacking strength in depth as there is very little competition for Tour squad places...any ideas on improving this would be gratefully received as I cannot see this improving especially when one of our main men (Chepu) who has been a fantastic supporter of Zimbabwe has understandably swapped allegiance, thank you for what you have supplied Zimbabwe. Will be a big loss.

We also have issues with the new Youth Pull system whereby non members cannot select country and game is supposed to even up all nations....doesnt work.

Thanks for your support and hopefully we can do better next time.....

Yeah has been a great few years (18 seasons). Nqxetbwqne is I think 30th or so player pulled and trained by me to reach Zimbabwe squad. Unfortunately will also be the last for at least 7-8 seasons and maybe beyond.

Good luck for future

Just a few weeks until the tours start and we try to promote finally. Just thought I would post a reminder of what we are looking for in potential U20 players please.

Primaries need to be Expert as well as Technique.

Fielding has to be Capable as a minimum.. Reliable is preferable.

Keeping, Expert with expert batsman and tech.

Would like to see a minimum of Reasonable experience and at least this for Endurance.

Thanks for helping us.

Andy

Under 20 One Day 3 Match 1 v India

Sorry for the late update but it is very busy behind the scenes with covid restrictions and testing....

Everything went kind of to plan except and mini batting collapse until Heath Palmer took control scoring a healthy 85..leaving India needing 232 to win.

The bowlers all did well and bowled them out for 170...with Davids and Hatton both taking 3 wickets

Under 20 One Day 3 Match 2 v Kenya

Wow what a different game to match 1. No batsman got in on either side and we looked doomed when bowled out for 132.

All the bowlers bowled well and restricted Kenya's score until we took their late 6 wickets for 18 runs...a surprising collapse but all down to the quality of our excellent bowling and fielding.

The star of the show was Davids again taking 4-29.

We are in a good position with 2 wins out of 2 and a decent NRR....now we need to build on this and not just miss out once again as we have done the last 2 One Day Tours
