played a few years back thought I'd give it another crack.
When training a player who was recruited with ave keeping and skilled batting.
Should I train to be a keeper or keep him as just a batsmen?

2nd question do keepers need to be training in fielding?

Cheers in advance for the answers

Depends on his batting skills and age tbh. No point training him as a keeper only. ALL keepers need batting.

2nd question - yes. I try and get my keepers to one, maybe two levels below keeping. EG if my keeper has outstanding keeping, I want him to be at least accomplished fielding.

Welcome back!

Yeah it depends on his overall stats of course, but average keeping isn't a bad starting stat at all, so he's probably got some merit as a keeper knowing nothing else about him. Tech can be a pain to train on keepers so I guess that might be a factor?

A simple approach to start until you get a better handle on things is this

Fielding to capable
Bat/bowl until reli/acc
Top up field to reli
Back to primary until seniors
A power pop doesn't hurt at 20yo either

If keeper trng
field to average
KB until keep expert
Bat/bat tech trng to expert
top up fielding to cap (reli if poss)

While your in the lower divisions and still building up your academy there is probably less emphasis on having capable fielding and more so the primaries that will win matches. It is all a matter of opinion though.

Everyone trains there own way so just go with a training plan that works for you, Crowfans guide is a good one. My advice would be head over to the mentors section in the forums and an experienced manager can help you get started again.

There are plenty of Experienced managers willing to help :thumbsup I also found my mentor through the FTP discord when I started again.

Also you can get better keepers on the market for really cheap at the moment. At this point of the season players will be going cheaper and it’s a good time to build your squad. Unless you want to play the game home grown then I suggest you just keep improving the youth academy for now.

Good luck.
