Any future plans to introduce fielding set up? I ask this question with a hint of frustration because my accomplished captain with reasonable experience of my one day side placed my 16 year old debutant in the slip cordon who expectedly froze when the ball flew to him

Nothing there suggests to me that a mistake shouldn't happen.

True, a better captain may have tried a better fielding position but that was his choice. Perhaps he didn't think the young fella would have the throw for a boundary position and would be better suited in his slips. Captain didn't select him to play and just trying his best with what he has to win the match. The youngster has to stand somewhere.

I agree with you sentiments, but I'm not sure the game actually put the fielder in slips. From my knowledge, your player is chosen at random as is the fielding commentary.
Maybe I'm making this up, but I'm sure the better the captain the more likely the chance goes to a better fielder.( If I'm wrong then it should happen)
But you are 100% correct , that in reality your 16 year old wouldn't have been in the slips.
