Halfway through season 58 and I think our senior team is actually looking in pretty good shape.

We're on track for our main goal of promotion of SOD.

We are also surprisingly in 2nd place in T20

And we also made it to round 4 in the cup, which isn't particularly far but it's pretty respectable.

Not only that but we also have almost $1.5m in the bank, this has been pretty much staying the same most of the season with little growth.
The Flora are in the top 8 rankings in both senior formats which means that we are around the division 1 quality which is really promising as well.

Apart from that I have also upgraded my ground capacity to 15,000 as I have been consistently selling out my T20 matches.

Having a closer look at SOD I did lose 1 game where my opponent upset me despite being underrated by approx 30k. This did set off some alarm bells but I think we are still in very good position to promote to division 2.

Division 2 has been a surprise though as my main goal for this season was to mid-table and just win SOD. But I find myself sitting in 2nd place which is great.
Stats Galore did beat us in the 1st leg so they could still overtake us. But even if they do top 3 would be considered a pretty good result.

Finally here is our squad.
As you can see they are all aging but maybe with the exception of Eugene Butler they all have another season left in them at least.

My main problem is bowling diversity which you can get away with in division 3 but as I'm climbing the leagues I'll need to splash some cash to get some better bowlers and to shore up some of my weaknesses, in particular getting a good fast bowler, and looking at getting some players that have a bit more experience.

As I get to division 2 in SOD I will start planning on my strategy for when and how I will upgrade my academy, how I will start looking at recruiting younger players and developing them.

On a massive turn of events the Flora have found ourselves on top of the div 2 T20 ladder!

Our main rivals Nutella have now lost 3 in a row with some ratings upsets and now we've slotted ourselves in at top spot.
There's still time to lose but I still have 1 game against bottom team Crazy Eleven which I have a 100k ratings advantage against. I've changed my home game to flat and hope to bat first to really try to get that NRR up. Nutella have already played them twice.

If I'm honest I was completely unprepared for this and was really just waiting to catch up with SOD and focus on trying to make a push next season. Luckily thanks to some shrewd spending I still have $1.6m in the bank. I'm on the hunt now for a fast Bowler, 2 more spinners, and 1 or 2 batsmen who have a couple of seasons left in them.

Timeline of events

Season 55 week 10 - creation of team
I assessed my leagues and found that it was impossible for me to make promotion in any of my leagues.

Due to a lack of quality in my team I decided to downgrade my academy and retire half of my team. None of the starting players are worth investing in or will be useful in the future.

I recruited general players from the youth academy to increase chances of getting someone with quality who would be worth selling.

Season 56 week 1
I have $851k in the bank and am ready to build a squad that can win division 4.
Terrific achievement Madcarrot. Although you have prior experience it goes to show that any new side with some decent planning can progress quite well with the current state of the game. :party

Super interesting.

I had the impression that training players from 16.0 would be the way to have an unbeatable team. But by the looks, having a basement academy and spending the difference (1.7 mill per season) on a squad is the best way to become extremely competitive extremely quickly.

Ahhhhh the opportunity cost feels bad.

Good stuff Madcarrot! Really enjoy following along your updates.

Any new updates Madcarrot?

Congrats on reaching the number 1 rated senior team in Pakistan. I've purchase an affiliate to try an replicate your success. The slow grind of my other team will be rewarding but training guys for 12 seasons for 10% discount might be not be the ploy I had hoped for haha

I have no clue how you managed to gain a bank balance of $852k inside of a month of taking over a team. That part isn't described in detail and is just insane. I took over a team with 60k and no tangible assets haha
