Not a boast, but wondering whether I should use this kid as a batsman or use the talents and power to develop him as an opening bowler..?

I'd say either way is fine. Depends on how much you value NBB and what you need for your team. Personally, I'd probably make him a batter (or sell/retire him) but it's a mariginal call and I don't think there's anything wrong with making him a bowler.
