Apologies for not posting sooner.

The U20s are currently on their first tour following the election. We are in the rarefied heights of division 2; my thanks to dravy for getting there last season! The U20s have not qualified for a WC for some time. So our goal is simple, stay in division 2.

Of course if we can do better than that, we will. So far, the tour is going well and we have won both matches. Bermuda won the tour bid and went seam heavy which wasn't ideal for us. However, it did give Kenya the opportunity to bring out its 3 pretty young fasties.

Unusually, our ratings are towards the top end of those teams competing and today we knocked off the team pulling the highest ratings. Tomorrow will be interesting as humid weather, tired players and U20s can create havoc. Hopefully we are up to it.

It would be good to see some more Kenyan supporters following the side:

Well - we have had a good week. Four games and four wins. That leaves us with promotion and a game tomorrow to see if we can win the division 2 title.

Tune it at 05:30 FTP time tomorrow to find out:

match 5821222

After posting a perfect record in the last OD tour, we go today in the T20 tour. We are in division 3 so really need to promote...... so hopefully we can repeat our result from the last tour, fingers crossed.

The tour is here:

https://www.fromthepavilion.org/leagueo ... 01178#curr

and our first match which kicks off at 11:30 FTP time:

match 5821333

It would be great to see a bunch of Kenyan supported watching the game,

Dave

After missing promotion by a few runs in the T20 tour (3rd on NRR by about 0.08) we start on the first 1st division OD tour for Kenya U20s in quite some time. We are up against it as our squad doesn't match up to the opposition as well as I would like, although we do have a couple of potential match winners.

The tour is in Bangladesh so I will not be able to watch the games, however, for those that are in that time zone, you can find the tour here:

Our first match is against overwhelming favourites Australia at 02:00 FTP:

match 5824139

Please support the lads as they will need it!

Well the team managed to snatch success from what looked like certain defeat. OK, success is probably stretching it but we managed to stay in division 1 after winning our last two matches.

Very pleased with that,

I am running the U20s but have been involved with the seniors for many seasons..... so I think I am qualified to answer. I cannot compare to the current crop of youngsters though.

I don't recommend training strength at 22. I think your player should be training fielding until at least spectacular. He will also need to play as much as possible to get his experience up (but don't play him so much he becomes massively fatigued).

At 23 you could train some strength - but I would only train to average or not at all. From 24, I would train 5 weeks of strength, 6 weeks at 25, 7 at 26 and then most of the season when he is 27. That should get his strength up to roughly where it needs to be. If you want to accelerate strength training a bit just increase the weeks at each age by 1 or max 2. At 28 you train whatever he is short of.

To be a senior Nat, you bat will need high exceptional primary and tech (ie close to WC) with preferably exceptional fielding and WC power. Your skilled tech will allow your player to have tech at a lower level but you should still aim to get him to exceptional tech.

Best of luck with him,

Dave

as Dave said Power shouldn't be trained for at least 2 seasons as of now. Fielding, tech and batting need to be boosted first.
