I realized after setting the competition up that this clashes with the Youth cup that runs for some more weeks. That is probably a constraint for many to join.

We’ll go ahead with this one (with those who are able to join) and probably look at another similar tournament on Wednesdays ...which may work for other teams.

Final two slots left in the Irish Emerging Stars YOD League competition.

If you have five or more Irish players in your youth squad, please consider joining.

It is an u19 tournament. 20yo players not eligible to play.

Our SOD Tour starts tomorrow. Pitches we got were Dry, Crumbling, & Slow.

Keeping in line with this, we decided on 10 bowlers with 2 ARs - 1 spin AR & 1 seam AR. We decided on 6 batters & 2 WK. We decided to go with split of 5 seamers & 5 spinners after debating a bit on whether to go with 6 spinners, but our seam is relatively better than spin & also we were weary of getting some humid weather. 5+5 seemed to give a better balance.

The seam AR was between Congreve & McDonnell and Congreve in accom bowling summary in reli form was a worry in case form dropped. We even debated to pick Congreve as a batter also, to give bowling cover but ultimately picked a LF Kenny due to his high wage.

Spinners was a toss up between Scott (LWS) & Rourke (RWS) - Rourke talent & better fielding won him a spot vs Scott, but was close.

Boyne was picked due to his talent, but it was a close call between him vs Tynan, Bolger, and Halpert.

In batters, only White was a bit debated spot, the other 5 got picked almost automatic.

Boyle
Edward Reid
Eamon Reid
Hyde
White
Regan
Boyne (WK)
Maturin (WK)
Iremonger (LM)
Slattery (RFS AR)
Ward (RFS)
Patrick Kenny (RWS)
O'Rourke (RWS)
O'Leary (RFS)
McDonnell (RFM AR)
Brennan (RM)
Ray Kenny (LF)
Deane (RF)

We got slow, crumbling, crumbling, dry, dry.

We'll give it our best shot to promote.

KIC & DDRR can add if I missed some of our debating points while picking squad. It was also an interesting challenge to pick the squad due to the age, we just left it till week of picking squad to understand who remains & who are already 21 & how they're shaping up. We also have few on their last tour - Boyle, Ray Kenny, Hyde, Iremonger, McDonnell, O'Leary, Edward Reid. So, quite a few new faces in next tour.

Also, its quite busy outside of FTP, to be active in forums (work, family & covid), hence my absence, but we'll be active in picking squads & on tour & won't forget to set orders, like we missed in friendlies :D :D

D. Slattery (rfs) 10-0-56-2, S. wa Mwai 2 (3b), B. Kibet 36 (39b)
End of over 50 (9 runs) - Kenya U20(241-8) RR 4.82

This is a terrific score by Kenya on slow windy. Irish are up against it now to chase this one - bowling was sub par, only contained them without wickets which didn't help. now up to the batsmen

Good toss to win on cloudy crumbling, we have UAE 4 down for 70. Hope we can get them under 150. Cloudy crumbling will be tricky chase

J. McDonnell (rfm) 9.5-0-24-2, A. Hakim 74 (147b)
End of over 45 (3 runs) - UAE U20(145-10) RR 3.22

Tail wagged a bit & opener played a brilliant innings, but will take that to chase on cloudy crumbling

Decided to rest Boyle and slattery today vs 170k West indies who are tougher to beat to just boost our chances vs Kenya and Pakistan. Just a calculated decision to win last 2 games and promote vs playing Boyle and slattery today also and risk losing them for last 2 games. If toss helps us, we might have outside shot at beating west indies today too
