Well we did our bit, winning by 17 runs
SA did their bit, in a thrilling chase of 200
Unfortunately the Netherlands couldn't do us a solid vs NZ and we're out :(

Pretty happy with performances overall (we ranked second bottom coming into the WC), but feel we left a bit on the table (mainly the loss vs SL), and the lack of spin friendly pitches hurt us too.

Anyway, let's look forward to the qualifying campaign for the Real WC this season :D

Overall 166,880 179,384

UAE U20 won by 14 runs

The Match in a Tweet: UAE finish their World Cup with a win over the brits!

Man of the Match: Ahmad Kamal (UAE)

Our best:
Ahmad Kamal - 74 runs for the opener was just the beginner. He then went nuts with the gloves, 2 stumpings and a catch.

Nazmi Abdulah - 3/18 off his 4 overs and a catch.

Anwar Abdel - 2/22 off his 4 overs.

Tawfiq Ghafur - 2/20 off his 4 overs.

Runs from one of the opener and our spinners share the wickets has been the formula that’s worked in our wins this week!

Around the Grounds:
Group 2:
South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.
New Zealand beat Netherlands by 6 wickets.

Group 1:
Scotland beat India by 18 runs.
Australia beat USA by 6 wickets.
West Indies beat Zimbabwe by 13 runs.

I entered the week with quiet optimism but the reality was that more than 2 wins was going to be a successful week In the scheme of things. We got 3 wins so a big congrats to the guys. Obviously we came to win the World Cup and fell short in that regard but a great effort none the less.

New Zealand and England progress both with the 1 loss.
We finish third with 3 wins. Sri Lanka fourth with the 2 wins and then South Africa and Netherlands with the one win each.

Australia progress through their group without a loss. Definitely their World Cup to lose. Scotland sneak through with just the 3 wins. West Indies, USA and India all had two wins. Zimbabwe finish bottom with the one win.

Semi finals are England vs Scotland and Australia vs New Zealand.
Continental rivals so to speak as neighbours take on neighbours. Those games will continue at 1600 if you’re interested.

But now it’s time for the lads to fly home and have some well deserved time off!

Thanks again to anyone who reads these. That marks the end of another season. Big props to Heppa, Penky and Bird for their efforts managing the u20s. The future is bright!

See you all next season! Make sure you stick to your running schedules and don’t eat too many pies. 🙏🏻

Thanks Moose. As always, superb reviews.

Our team was relatively weak, but we still set out to make the finals. Three wins is still a solid performance so we can't be too disappointed.

Our team looks to be improving, and we are playing out of Div 2 in both formats now. No time for a break - we will get back into it as soon as these guys land back home and bring in the new guys for the upcoming season.

Game 1 versus New Zealand underway.

Unfortunately the [dropped]s have also started.

We are bowling, naturally.

Excited to see my first youth pull suiting up for his first NAT game.
Tempering expectations for when he goes 0-74

Edit: aye he got a wicket, nice one Saheed

In his first over against their best batsman :thumbsup

I think we'll need to restrict them to 180 today. They've got some scary looking seam bowlers.

He’s got 3 now, got them 5 down too, it’s looking good… (Touch wood)

Been averaging 67 in friendlies, been saving it for the main event I guess

J. Habib (lfm) 9.4-1-29-2, W. Hales 8 (8b)
End of over 44 (1 run) - New Zealand U20(138-10) RR 3.14

81 runs from the tail. I think we should still chase this without too much trouble...
