T. Ishmael (rf) 4-0-38-1, J. Ghayth 68 (31b), S. Hossein 46 (28b)
End of over 11 (18 runs) - UAE(128-2) RR 11.64

These flat games are good to watch sometimes! No idea what a good enough score would be, 240?

I am not very good at Pars but I had a flick through the History Books and have pulled out the following fun stats regarding international T20s.

Largest total West Indies have chased on a Flat Wicket - 186 chased down against Bangladesh 4 wickets down (2nd June 2021).

It does look like they have never failed to chase down a total in T20 on a Flat Wicket - but history is there to be rewritten.

Largest total we have failed to protect on a Flat Wicket - 206 runs which Sri Lanka chased down 5 wickets down (19th July 2012).

None of this actually helps but I think it will be a close one. They're chasing 207 and are 1/31 after 4. A great over that from Shadi.

14.6 W Sam to Walsh : [catch] Got him! It's always a bold decision to have a slip in at this stage of a limited overs game, but the skipper gets his reward for brave captaincy as a thick edge goes straight to Khaleel.H. Walsh c M. Khaleel b. H. Sam 8 (3b 0x4 1x6) SR:266.67

14.5 6 Sam to Walsh : A short ball from Sam but far too short, Walsh picked the length early and heaves it high over the head of Nu'man who's on the fence at deep mid wicket. No one at the ground today is happier with that shot than our scorer Laurie who is reaching for his green pen as I speak, he really does keep a lovely colourful scorebook.

14.4 2 Sam to Walsh : Pitched up and wide of off stump. Walsh squirts it past point and the batsmen come back for 2.

14.3 W Sam to Menzies : The scorecard will read LBW to Sam but that wicket should really be credited to the pitch. Jagging back off a crack and not rising above ankle height. Menzies could do nothing about it.N. Menzies lbw b. H. Sam 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00

14.2 W Sam to Harragin : [catch] Sam has struck. It was a loopy flighted delivery around the off stump and Harragin didn't get to the pitch of the ball and he edged his attempted cover drive to first slip.H. Harragin c S. Hossein b. H. Sam 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00

14.1 3 Sam to Nero : Punched through the off side for 3.

3 wickets in an over is nice. NRR now 15 - need to knock the settled bat over and wrap this up.

Hud Sam (3 points), Sharad Hossein (2), Nawfal Shadi (1)

UAE won by 30 runs

The match in a tweet: RUNS ON THE BOARD, RUNS ON THE BOARD. Run rate pressure gets to the Windies and UAE win by 30 runs.

Our best:

Hud Sam - 5/40 off his 3.5 overs for the leggie including 3/11 in one over. Closed the game out nicely.

Sharad Hossein - 90 runs unbeaten off 54 balls for the opener. 9 fours and a six for the anchor of a solid innings that ended up being too much for the West Indies to chase down. Also took a catch.

Nawfal Shadi - 3/23 for the Left arm FM. Very economical bowling to swing the game in our favour.

Jaul Ghayth - 73 off 34 balls for the veteran. 5 fours and 4 maximums.

Kaliq Aziz - A duck with the bat but made up for it with the ball. 2/34 off four overs.

Always prefer to chase on a Flat but can't complain with scoring 206 runs after being sent in by the West Indies. 117 run partnership between Ghayth and Hossein. Consistent wickets tapered off the innings but we managed a solid total of 206.

Shadi struck in the 4th over to have West Indies 1/31 after 4 overs. An Aziz wicket in the 6th had them 2/54. RR was 9 and RRR 10.93 after the 6th over. After 10 overs RR was 9 and RRR 11.7. A 75 run partnership between Griffith and Nero threatened to ruin the party but the RRR climbed and climbed. Aziz knocked Griffith over with the last ball of the 14th over to have West Indies 3/129 and reeling - needing 13 an over. Enter Hud Sam taking 3/11 in the 15th over. Tight bowling from Shadi and Khaleel took the RRR up to 18.67 for the last 3 overs. Hud Sam took another in the 18th over, before Shadi took 2 in a row (on a hattrick next game) and then Hud Sam ended it with a wicket with the second last ball. A 30 run win to start our tour week.

Around the Ground:

Scotland beat India by 7 wickets after India elected to bat first on a Flat (Hot). India managed 184 runs for 8 off their 20 which Scotland cruised to 3 down with 2 and a half overs to spare.

Bermuda beat USA by 14 runs after Bermuda elected to bat first on a Dry (Hot). Bermuda's 161 (9 down) proved too many for the USA who managed only 147 in reply (also 9 down).

USA up tomorrow - game starts 0800.
