Wonder how the ratings points will look after this week. Think Bermuda will leapfrog us into the last WC spot :(

It starts again. I'm not sure it's really possible to qualify from the position we're in now though.

Some encouraging signs on that tour, but as we've banged on about, let down by our fielding a lot :(
Few End of tour highlights:

Player of the Tour:
Salman Kardal- Overall player of the tour in terms of fantasy points. Key contributor with bat and ball with 103 runs @ 34.33 and 6 wickets @ 19.00 apiece in 3 games.

Performance of the tour:
Naji Saleem- for his 5-36 of 7.4 overs vs Canada, who doesn't love a quick ripping through the opposition?

Future Player to Watch:
Fahd Hussein- a contender for our player of the tour with 177 runs at 88.50 and a UAE tour high of 91. Still only 19.06, we have over a season to look forward to from him, and he should only get better!

Well I think the lads summed it up. Catches win matches. Missed chances due to poor fielding hurts. Anyone running training sessions for these lads needs to ban net sessions and just hit rocks at the lads til they catch every single one of them.

Check out Penky’s tour wrap above that shows our key players.

We finish 3rd on three wins (equal wins with 2nd and 4th) and NRR of +0.0488 (0.023 less than Canada and 0.017 more than Zimbabwe). The fact that our two losses came against 4th and 6th stings a little. But also ignore all that and say that we was robbed.

Well you know what they say, all’s fair in love, war and web based simulated text cricket.

Tour Match # 5
VS 🇮🇪
Result: :clap
🇦🇪 win by 3 wickets

The Match in a tweet: UAE take out the win over the lucky Irish but narrowly miss out on promotion.

Man of the Match: Salman Kardal 🇦🇪

Our best:
Salman Kardal - 3/53 with the ball and a crucial 37 in the run chase.

Muwaffaq Khaleel - 3/51 including Ireland’s top 3.

Ameer Hakim - a wonderful 50 and two catches with the gloves on.

Covid safe lemonades for the lads this afternoon. A bitter sweet feeling as we finish with 3 wins against competitive teams but fail to promote.

If you’re a manager of any national players keep training them up to be the best for the nation. Sounds like the juniors need some catching practice. Of course if you’re unsure how to train them, reach out to any of the managers - they’re a friendly enough bunch and always happy to help. Even if the bug lives underground.

That ends my loan to the Youth and ends my two week stint of Press Conferences. Not sure how many people read my garbage but thanks to all that do. I love every single one of you.

That rounds out two weeks of national tours. Neither quite the results we were hoping for with no promotions but could have been worse as there were no demotions.

The Seniors Div 3 Tour is next up on the 28th December. Tune in to the seniors page for those.

Trust in the process 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪

One last thing - have a lovely Christmas and a wonderful start to 2021. Let’s hope the world turns it around. Wherever you are - stay safe, stay humble and stay away from my TM bargains.
Just here to contribute a few cracking commentary lines and spend hours on the transfer market.

Thanks Moose. I enjoyed reading your summaries each day :party

I think positive signs for us overall. This tour was always going to be our hardest as we attempt to improve our player pool.

As some of you may be aware, the U20 T20 Tour begins this Monday 4th January. We'll be playing out of division 2. While survival is the most important factor, I believe we can manage to sneak into a promotion spot if a couple of things go our way.

Code: Select all

04 Jan 2021 09:00	U-20 Twenty20 2	Scotland U20 v UAE U20
05 Jan 2021 09:00	U-20 Twenty20 2	UAE U20 v Bangladesh U20
06 Jan 2021 09:00	U-20 Twenty20 2	Ireland U20 v UAE U20
07 Jan 2021 09:00	U-20 Twenty20 2	UAE U20 v Sri Lanka U20
08 Jan 2021 09:00	U-20 Twenty20 2	South Africa U20 v UAE U20
As mentioned in-game, I will be awarding a months membership to the player who scores the most fantasy points for us on average. I will be doing this for every tour and will look to increase prizes based on the interest. Just a little gift to say thank you to all our managers who have been so helpful in accomodating our needs when it comes to training their players. We're almost at the level of secondaries that we need to compete.

Game 1!

Toss: Scotland U20 won the toss and elected to bowl.

Not what we wanted. Considering the conditions, we probably want a minimum of 180.

K. Aitchison (lws) 4-0-36-0, S. Kardal 11 (8b), A. Hakim 5 (2b)
End of over 20 (11 runs) - UAE U20(163-4) RR 8.15

Lost at the toss today. Plenty of batting in the sheds, so not much more we could have done.

Little disappointed with that last 4 overs, think 170 was on the cards. Unless there's early wickets, think we'll be a little short

8 weeks of straight fielding from 20+ players is still not enough

The bowlers did well taking it to the last over. We were out of the game at the toss.

Dropped catch followed up by a Missed Run out - gee it’s a frustrating game sometime

In the end the Batsmen didn’t put a big enough total up, they went too slow at the start - given the strength of the middle
Order they should of been pushing a lot mire
Birds XI and Birds 2nd XI - Aus Div 1 Champs YOD S43,46 YT20 S46,47
UAE NAT Manager S42-S44, Assistant S45, UAE U20 Assistant S46-
Australian NAT Assistant S37-S42 - Champs - S39 T20 1.1, S42 SOD 1.1

Well they say life is a gamble and T20 certainly feels like a dice roll. Our posted total always felt 20/30 too few but Scotland did a really good job of making it look like a close match.

Once again these little words haunted us in our bowling innings:
[dropped] [missed runout] [misfield]
Two in the 19th over felt like daggers to my naive little heart.

Tour Match # 1
VS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Result:
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 win by 7 wickets with a ball to spare.

The Match in a tweet: Quinten Lynch needs to work on his form. His failure to capitalise at the coin toss was disappointing. Will be expecting more from the big eagle. His on field input also could use some improvement.

Man of the Match: Kenneth Alexander 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our best:
Yarden Shareef - a wonderful 64 including four fours and two maximums.

Amjad Hadi - great batting for his 57.

Shareef and Hadi put on 95 for the second wicket and gave us a great platform we weren’t able to capitalise on. (Seems to be bit of a national talent of throwing away good starts)

Salman Kardal - 1/24 off his 4 overs, a catch (someone on the team can catch - I was as surprised as you are) and 11 runs with the willow.

Just like to give a shout out to the West Coast Eagles for having players for both nations tonight - our own captain courageous Lynch and Scotland’s treasured (Beau) Waters.
We are not done facing Eagles players either as we will face Jack Darling when we take on South Africa. I know the Eagles love to travel but 7 players on tour is nuts.

Tune in at 0900 tomorrow as we take on Bangladesh.

Trust in the process 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪

Game 2 against Bangladesh. We won the toss and sent them in. Will be happy chasing anything below 160.

Q. Lynch (lm) 2-0-13-0, S. Ahmed 17 (14b), Z. Ashraful 30 (23b)
End of over 9 (3 runs) - Bangladesh U20(70-2) RR 7.78

We just had our first drop of the night. I expect 1 or 2 more - hopefully not.
