NAT.seniors

Post by cricketiscool » Sat Aug 15, 2020 8:19 am

Working up to the ODI Division 2 tour starting august 24 we have played a few friendlies.

We beat Bangla with v.Oosterhout excelling(4-26) with the ball and de Gans(44) and Leezer(56) securing the win.

We lost to England where Vermelfort(4-32) and vd Lijn(3-34) did a fine job but despite contributions from Mozart(45) and Coen(47) we fell 11 runs short.

Scotland trashed us ....our 265 on hard was easily overtaken in over 44.

And we beat Australia bowling them out for 131 on crumbling with Abt(3-32) and v,Hage(3-18) being the main scalphunters....de Gans(34) and Lamar(45*) made sure we were victorious....

We have another 2 friendlies vs Kenya and S.Africa before the tour starts :thumbsup

We had another 2 friendlies before we the tour we are having atm.
Mixed results....

In this weeks tour we had a pretty bad start losing the first 2 matches to WI and Canada.
Yesterday`s win against Pakistan gives a bit of hope, but we`ll certainly need another victory against NZ (today) or India (tomorrow) to avoid the risk of relegating to division 3

Due to Covid you are not allowed to shout, but do take your energy to the stands this afternoon :thumbsup

And see finally our bats realised they were ok.
After beating Pakistan we knew we had to win at least 1 more match.

Playing NZ we got the hang on scoring a healthy 232v8 thanks to fine partnerships in the (late)middleorder.
Lamar, Flens, vd Zanden and vd Lijn did their job.
Our bowlers restricted NZ to 197ao and as India lost again we were 99% sure of not relegating.

The last match vs India saw some more improvement from our boys.
Bowling first on hard we skittled them for 167ao with Mollema(4) and Hinkelaar(3) being the main hunters.
In over 32 we passed their total for the loss of 5 wickets :thumbsup

In the mean time....working up to the T20.week we played Kenya.
A side finishing top in the ODI.tour last week :clap
And also a side trying to fill their gap between ODI and T20....hoping to get out of divison 3 :thumbsup

Losing the toss we batted first and again our (long) battingline didn`t show their potential.
On hard we lost in less than 2 overs 6 wickets and scored just 4 runs finishing on 173 instead of 190+

In an exciting finish we tied the match :think
Tomorrow we`re meeting Sri Lanka....

An experimental(ish) line up for today's match - a few spots on the tour still up for grabs so some of the fringe guys get a shot here....

A debate over Delryn to tour meant a last minute line up change. Delryn went on to score an unbeaten 30 to win the game, and pencil himself into the squad.

Good performances from Hinkelaar (who will tour) Timmer & N Van Der Zanden (both of whom will miss out this time around) and Van der Knapp(who is currently in the squad.) The tour pitches don't really suit vd Knapp so we may sub him out for another spinner (Kos is possible replacement) but will wait and see if the forecast shows lots of humid before making the decision.

One friendly to go before the tour squad is announced.

We have another 3 friendlies before the tourweek.
Today we are playing England.

And as the game keeps puzzling us from time to time we shouldn`t be too surprised :whistle
Put your opener on D on an uneven pitch and...he goes straight away for the big lofted drive over the top :think

Not a bad result, 3 wins in the first tour. Good luck in the T20 format, let's hope the boys can hit it hard!

We lost the friendly vs England where once again our bats showed they `need to be in the mood`..
Apart from De Jonge and Delryn it was up to the bowlers to make it a total of over the 100.

The poms cruised until Vermeltfoort(6-17 in 4 overs..) got angry and made them work for the win :whistle

Today we are playing Scotland.
Let`s see if our bats slept well....

Another losing friendly vs Scotland :think
Hopefully that means we will have a positive tourweek....

Bowling first the scots mustered 169v8 on a slow track with van Oosterhout(6-30) being their main opponent.
And despite a valliant effort from Lamar(53*) we fell 4 runs short.

Today the last friendly before the tour.
Today we`re playing Bangladesh with overcast/crumbling conditions....

And yes we finished the friendlies in style....
Lost to Bangla this time.

We were sent in and made 142v8 with my opener on D belting the ball from ball 1 8)
After vd Zanden(40) and De Jonge(43) had secured a good foolow.up we looked good at 100v2 after 13 overs.

Defending we didn`t do too bad and had them at 71v4 after 9 overs, but their middleorder secured an easy win .

Let`s hope the aussies will feel our anger/disappointment on september 14 :whistle

We didn`t have the start we wanted this week.... :think

Australia managed to score 147 and despite fine innings by vd Zanden(67), Delryn(35) and van Hage(23*) we fell 6 runs short.

Yesterday the boys recovered well vs USA; batting first we scored 208v7 with Mozart(82), de Jonge(30) and Lamar(49).
Defending vd Zanden, Hinkelaar and van Noortwijk all took 3 wickets to restrict them to 158AO :thumbsup

Today `leader of the pack`....Bermuda :whistle

Well let`s say the week hasn`t developed as we wished....
After 2 lost matches tomorrows match is a must win to have a chance of staying in division 1 :think

Hopefully the boys realise that as well....
And perform to their abilities

And they did realise it got serious.
Pfew....

Vermeltfoort(4-12), Van Oosterhout(3-27) and van Hage(2-13) took care of a modest irish score.
And after 16.1 overs theri total of 95 was passed for the loss of just 3 wickets.

At the end of the day this (heavy) defeat meant that Ireland was the country relegating together with Australia as both the WI and USA won their last match :whistle

In 10 days time we have the 2nd ODI.tour :thumbsup
