Haha yes he did well!

Game 3 brought a WINNNNNN. After difficult games 1 and 2, we managed a victory against USA in a game that at most points looked like going the other way. Sorry for the lack of match reports this week, very busy! We lost the toss and were put in to bat managing a fairly unremarkable total of 108 all out (after 18.2 overs).

USA struggled in response and ended up 86 all out as our bowlers performed well, Griffin the pick of the bunch with 3 wickets for 19 runs.

On to games 4 and 5 against the Netherlands and Australia, both teams are on 4 points (as are we) and winning against both will be crucial for survival - especially with our poor NRR.

A win in game 5 meant that we finished a respectable third in Div 1. Happy with that result after a shaky first 2 games!

Apologies for the lack of updates during the OD Tour this week, been a busy time in real life for me! The tournament started strongly with wins against Kenya and Bangladesh (by 61 and 124 run margins). Game 1 highlights included Eugene and Hibbert 50s and an Eric Bailly 4 wicket haul. Game 2 highlights were dominated by a Winston Nunes 150 not out - an incredible debut!

Game 3 brought the first loss of the tour as New Zealand beat us by 57 runs in a disappointing collapse after 30 overs while chasing a very respectable 270 runs. This was followed by a better performance in a close encounter against Sri Lanka with a 2 wicket victory and a good performance from Outridge (4 wickets) and young batsman Len Thomas (57 runs).

This left us second in the Division with 1 game left and joint points with Bangladesh and New Zealand. Sadly it wasn't to be as we set Ireland a low 105 run score as a collapse left us only batting 30.5 overs. Ireland easily chased this within 27.5 overs and a 5 wicket win. The Div 1 victory was not to be, but congratulations to New Zealand who jumped from 3rd to 1st, as both Bangladesh and us lost their final games.

On to the T20 WC now. We're making a few small changes to the team as a few players reach the end of their careers, special shout out to Terrence Bidhesi (The Mighty Imps) who scored 754 OD runs in 32 games, as well as Jayden Saron (Dhaka Metropolis) who took 10 OD wickets and 4 T20 wickets in his career.

Apologies, it's been a super busy time for myself as I work in hospital and Covid has sadly come back quite badly over in the UK.

So far the Windies have had 3 games:
1) Against Scotland ended in a 5 wicket victory for us.
2) Against the UAE a poor batting performance meant that we fell 15 runs short
3) Against Bermuda we had a great performance to end with a 7 wicket win

Going into the final two games against Ireland and Sri Lanka we are third (top 3 all have 2 wins, 1 loss), we ideally need two wins that would certainly get us through to the semi-finals!

Feel free to watch tomorrow's match over at match 5476495

Also apologies for no team announcement, I'll aim to do that tomorrow, thanks to all the managers training Windies players, I do really appreciate it and apologise for not getting the team announcement out to celebrate those teams that have trained players!

WE MADE IT TO THE SEMIS!!

A crazy, crazy game. Sri Lanka set us much too large a total in the end, and it became clear at the midway point as we began to lose wickets with too few runs. We then had to begin to look at the Scotland vs Bermuda game, in hope that we could protect our NRR and that Scotland would get a victory to send us through.

5 overs to go this was the situation:
We required 66 runs from 5 overs (113-7)
Scotland needed 37 runs from 5 overs (94-7)

The maths said that we needed 139 runs to avoid Sri Lanka beating our NRR for the tournament and jumping above us in the groups.

With 2 overs left:
We required 55 runs from the final two overs for the win... but more importantly 15 runs to get to the important 139.
Step up Colin Eugene hitting 14 runs before getting out to the final ball of the 19th over. We needed 1 more run to reach 139.

Over in the Scotland game they were 111-8 needing 20 runs from 2 overs, in the 19th over they managed 5 runs and lost another wicket.

Final overs:
West Indies requiring 1 run lose Griffin first ball and then Ambrose and Bailly both got 1 run to take us over the 139 mark!!
Scotland bowlers Fairley and Forde manage a mighty 15 runs from the final over to deliver a magnificent victory against Bermuda.

So on to the semi-finals, we play USA who are hopefully busy worrying about their election results!
