No worries, I'm not particularly looking for him to be in the squad, he's just there if you need a backup.

Serves my team perfectly well, and everyone has their own opinion of what makes an NT player, you're the manager and you have the right to decide

Sorry I didn’t realise i am not allowed to state what you with your experience in this game should know anyway .
How many times has it been posted that ratings mean nothing? How do you justify saying your player is better , you can’t see the levels of the other players so have no idea if your player is better at all.

Perhaps you should learn the game before commenting, but no one is stopping you stating your opinions.

I can't see the other players, I can see the rating (some people say the rating means nothing, it doesn't necessarily), I can guarantee you by looking at the ratings that my players are better than yours

I can also say that I have seen other NT keeper's levels, and I'd generally choose mine over theirs, but that's because my opinion of skills in a keeper isn't necessarily the same as theirs. At the end of the day it was your blanket comment "Batting and tech are disgustingly low exceptional is by standard the lowest for national", that wasn't helpful and is just based on someone else's opinion. You wouldn't know how a player like that plays, unless you've had a similar player.

My affiliate is in the 1st division of the T20 and OD in Scotland, so I've probably got a reasonable idea of what constitutes a decent player.

I can also say that people have different ideas about what makes a good player, I've no problem with someone stating that primary exceptionals are required for a national team player. Doesn't make that person right, and doesn't mean that a player with lower ratings will outperform over time.

Anyway, I'd recommend playing a few seasons, getting a feel for how players perform and try out different types of training schedules. You'll probably end up in financial distress, cursing players that don't perform, etc, I've already been through all that. Like everyone else that's played a while I have my own ideas, and have found something that works.

Rating: A rough estimation of your player's skill and is based on every trainable (?) statistic. Is updated weekly after training. Beware of misleading ratings. For example, an accomplished batsman can have a 28,000 rating but a capable all-rounder (bat and bowl) can have a rating of 32k or more. Highish levels in superfluous skills will mean this can still be misleading (e.g. average keeping for a bowler - around 4000 points in wasted ratings)

Wage: The weekly payment of your player(s) based mostly on their primaries. Is updated at the start of every season and not during it. A somewhat more reliable method of checking an opponent's skill than ratings. However, unlike Battrick, you cannot pinpoint popping times based on wage.

As stated, higher levels in superfluous skills can make it misleading, but it's generally not a bad indicator for more mature well trained players. Many people state that wages are a better indicator, but they're also affected by extreme primaries, so they should also be taken with a pinch of salt (imho).

But back to your original post , I have never seen any national manager play any keeper with less than exceptional primaries except in community friendlies , remember them? So that’s a hint I know a little more than you expect champ so don’t go attempting to marginalise people because you have apparently played longer and know more than them .

I can see a pattern to your posting, if you've previously played the game then you don't need my help, and I can see you don't need anyone else's either.

Just an observstion.
Your guy has a 25 ave and has 134 dismissals from 98 games.Div 1. 1.4 a game.
Clouston has 55 ave 205 from 99. Div 1 2.a game.
Berrington ( who isnt great but has two in game talents) 29 ave and 191 from 121. 1.5 a game.
Not much between your and Berrington ( who I dont rate) but I hope that his talents can keep him at the crease a bit longer.

I do look at these things from time to time. Obviously you could drill down imto thise numbers more, the make up of the attack, pitch types etc.

I need to balance as much of this but basically your fella having spect batting wont cut it esp now we are seeing legendary summary bowlers coming at them in unfriendly batting conditions.

That's true, there's no doubt Clouston is a far better batsman than my guy, however it's slightly skewed by the fact he's also an opener.

Berrington is also a better batsman, but not a better keeper, again that depends how you play them and what you're looking for. My guy has World Class Keeping and safe hands, so should seriously outperform as a keeper.

I completely take your point though, given you're looking for a serious batsman as well a wicket keeper then Berrington is probably the better player for you. For me, it's a different view, and that's why I'd rather have him.

However, I completely respect your choices, was just giving a backup option if you need it

By the way, this guy may be useful in the future, if I can get a few more games into him. He's unfortunately seriously lacking experience, but he should be good enough for me to play next season a bit more. Might be a reasonable backup in a couple of seasons for the NT, depending on the state of other players coming through. He should be due a keeping pop soon, and possibly a batting one too.
