Ruff Royals won by 6 wickets

Ruff Royals Relegation reprobates
Batting - Top Order 6,850 7,524
Batting - Middle Order 7,060 6,126
Batting - Tail 4,421 3,559
Bowling - Seam 7,583 (32) 6,435 (32)
Bowling - Spin 9,271 (8) 7,549 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 9,301 8,151
Overall 136,406 123,025

We didn't bowl them out but we did restrict them to a maximum of 147 on a green pitch. The batting was a bit iffy to start with but Mitchell stuck in there and got 66 not out.

Early signs are that Ffoh will be the team to beat this season, followed by Staindrop Lordies and us.

It was a crumbling pitch and they decided to bat first. I was worried when they were on 141-2 but thankfully we came back into it and they were all out for 191. That's still more than I would have liked to have chased but it wasn't out of the question. We were doing great when it was 171-3 but lost some quick wickets and struggled a bit to get over the finishing line. Schmidt was key in the chase with 50 and Clarke got 45.

It looks like it'll be tough to get promotion with several sides rating around 240k+.

Never like batting second on a Windy / Dry, but we just about got home. Team is rating less than I thought it would, and batting performances have not looked good. May need to get buy in a more experienced batsman when the prices come down to bolster the middle order.

Result: Lost by 5 wickets.

Won the toss and had a bat on Windy/Green, and 173 was never going to be enough. Whitworth top scored with 46 and even he was dropped in the first over

Disappointing start to the season, but we were always going to struggle without any medium bowlers and a fairly average finger spinner. Have a reasonable amount of cash to play with so might dip into the TM if I see any suitable candidates in the coming weeks ...

It was a very close game on a flat pitch. I didn't think 179 was going to be enough as we were made to bat first. Mitchell was the main contributor to that with 79 from 43 balls.

A mixed performance with the ball and it was generally the younger players who did better. Staindrop Lordies needed 15 an over for the last 4 overs which is a lot but not impossible on a flat pitch and they very nearly did snatch the victory away from us. Much credit must go to our fielders who inflicted 4 run outs on them.

Match engine produces logical result shock!! Evenly matched, but home advantage and a spinning wicket got us through to a narrow win.

We bowled them out for 97 on a slow wicket with Westerveld taking an impressive 6-13. Our batting was a bit more mixed but House scored 46 from 34 balls and, despite losing some quick wickets at the end, we got the win with 5 overs to spare.

E. Casperson (rfm) 8-0-56-1, J. Marwat 28 (15b), J. Harrison 32 (37b)
End of over 40 (9 runs) - Ruff Royals(207-4) RR 5.17

I thought we could have gone a bit faster a bit earlier considering we had wickets in hand. It's still an okay total but not unchaseable. Galindo scored 69 which was nice. Mitchell hit 45.

G. Pithey (lf) 2-0-10-0, D. Thollar 5 (8b), S. Haggett 7 (10b)
End of over 3 (10 runs) - Snakey's Kent Stars(16-0). 192 runs required from 37 overs. RR 5.33 RRR 5.19

Not a brilliant start with the ball.

It was a good enough total in the end. 3 wickets apiece for Bennett and Reynolds. Sad times though as Bennett is now too old for the youths so will be moving to the seniors. That's one less allrounder. I could really do with a young allrounder but haven't had much luck with pulls or on the market with that.

I think that win puts me top of the league.

A nice big win to help the NRR which could be crucial come the end of the season. I even managed to rest my veteran keeper with his replacement batter coming in and top scoring in the match with 60. Top scoring on a crumbling pitch wasn't even enough for a top 3 place in man of the match scoring.

We got off to a very good start with the bat. House getting 51 to go alongside Dickerson's total but we collapsed towards the end and finished on 212 with almost 9 overs left to bat. The wickets fell regularly when we were bowling. Schneider took 4-28 and Westerveld 3-13.

A good start so far but we've played the only 2 sides that have lost both games. Plenty of tough games to come.
