C. Trujillo (rfm) 8-0-44-1, J. Harrison 6 (8b), H. Mitchell 82 (112b)
End of over 40 (6 runs) - Ruff Royals(198-3) RR 4.95

Green pitch and we decided to bat first. It's an okay score but we might have needed closer to 220+. Galindo scored 81 and Mitchell 82 not out.

D. Rocha (lm) 2-1-1-0, M. Dundas 8 (11b), L. Cumberbatch 2 (8b)
End of over 11 (maiden) - Oxhey Players(34-2). 165 runs required from 29 overs. RR 3.09 RRR 5.69

A decent start but we need to keep taking wickets and not let a partnership build.

Oxhey Players Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 8,174 7,570
Batting - Middle Order 6,963 6,492
Batting - Tail 3,983 3,848
Bowling - Seam 7,003 (36) 7,296 (32)
Bowling - Spin 4,948 (4) 10,311 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 6,512 9,705
Overall 126,019 136,408

Ruff Royals won by 8 runs

It wasn't easy but we got the win. My spinner picked up 4-49 on green but to be fair he is by far my best bowler and does have an outstanding summary. We've moved a bit further away from the relegation zone but Ffoh keep on winning at the top so a title challenge seems unlikely.

The Raging Speed Horns v Relegation reprobates
League One Day 2.1

Weather Windy
Pitch Sticky

End of over 49 (maiden) - The Raging Speed Horns(180-10) RR 3.67

Acceptable score on a sticky - should be 4 points in the bag.

I've got one eye on sparky's game with DangerDave - hoping he'll nick some points off the Davetron :ninja ...

At 85-0 batting first on a slow pitch and going at about 5 an over, I thought there was a chance I might cruise to victory and have a nice nerveless game. All out for 155 was not what I was hoping for and we're well and truly up against it.

C. Rush (lm) 6-0-28-1, W. Shahanah 6 (17b), A. arap Kipchoge 8 (18b)
End of over 25 (5 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(89-4). 67 runs required from 25 overs. RR 3.56 RRR 2.68

Okay I guess but the lack of run rate pressure is likely to mean we'll lose.

D. Combs (lf) 6-0-37-2, W. Shahanah 18 (39b), D. Kirui 1 (1b)
End of over 31 (4 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(115-6). 41 runs required from 19 overs. RR 3.71 RRR 2.16

It's interesting now but I still think the lack of run rate pressure is going to cost us. We need Shahanah out within the next 2 or 3 overs to have any chance, I think.

C. Rush (lm) 9-0-37-2, A. wa Njoroge 2 (6b), W. Shahanah 21 (54b)
End of over 35 (1 run) - Danger Hotspurs(122-7). 34 runs required from 15 overs. RR 3.49 RRR 2.27

We got another wicket but it wasn't Shahanah. I think they are going to get these runs.

Ruff Royals won by 7 runs

Well, it certainly wasn't a nerveless win but it's a great result. I'm happy with those ratings too with a squad all aged under 30. Whitehead wasn't missed as Bullock stepped up and got a decent 39. Mills top scored for us with 49.

Combs, Rush and Patterson all picked up 2 wickets. Westerveld was great and had 3-12 from 6 overs.

I'd tentatively say we're back in the title race although I fully expect to fall just short at best.

Nice win there fella :thumbsup

My lot are struggling to get wickets, and with snakey's mob looking likely to win, we could have four teams on 20 points at the end of the day, but then my skills as a prophet are shakey at best

Well done on the win.

It turns out my 7 run win was almost the most emphatic of the day and was probably just pipped by Snakey's 2 wicket win!

Should be an interesting battle for the rest of the season.

Fielding/Keeping 17,642 16,449
Overall 246,185 234,678

lost the toss and put into bat on windy/uneven. Looked in all kinds of trouble at 120-7 before Kouyate as per usual rescued us with 51, and Ozoh and Gallagher both managed double figures to get us up to a respectable 182 all out. In reply opps looked in reasonable shape at 98/4, before a flurry of wickets saw them collapse to 119 all out, giving us a 63 run win. All the bowlers got wickets, the pick of the bunch being Olise with figures of 6 - 1 - 13 - 3.

An important win which very much keeps us alive in what is sure to be an extremely close survival fight.

Another doosie from the match engine

Hay Spitfires Crestfallen Sidekicks
Batting - Top Order 12,633 11,007
Batting - Middle Order 10,611 12,007
Batting - Tail 6,303 6,014
Bowling - Seam 11,050 (30) 12,325 (20)
Bowling - Spin 11,741 (20) 12,586 (30)
Fielding/Keeping 14,118 15,486
Overall 210,871 218,962

Hay Spitfires won by 5 wickets

Better rating, and (more and better) spin bowlers on a windy/dry. Even got to bat first, but still got thrashed!!!

Going to give up on the 1-day league for another season and use it to play development players. No point fiddling with tactics when the match engine continually reacts like this.

In my affliate match, my top scorer was a bowler with accomplished summary batting, and my weakest bowler (outstanding summary) took 1-12 from 6.2 overs!!!

stresseddesserts v The Raging Speed Horns
MKMC Round 7
Result: stresseddesserts won by 228 runs

Weather Humid
Pitch Dry

Match Ratings
stresseddesserts The Raging Speed Horns
Batting - Top Order 15,167 12,932
Batting - Middle Order 14,122 9,047
Batting - Tail 7,040 4,245
Bowling - Seam 15,041 (20) 12,583 (50)
Bowling - Spin 15,211 (30) 0 (0)
Fielding/Keeping 18,130 16,438
Overall 268,387 212,880

A savage beating from the opposition sees us tumble uncerimoniously out of this seasons MKMC. It was always on the cards with four of the first team absent, including the spinners, but in all honesty, after Fridays league results, I figured it was time to intensify the domestic focus.

My squad is slowly getting to optimum size, but there's a 3 season gap between my top tier and second tier players, due to a bit of strategically violent squad culling a few seasons back. Of course, the curse of a homegrown policy always ensures your chickens finally come home to roost. It's not too bad; the 27-29yos should last long enough for the youngsters to slot in down the line, but the organic flow-through is somewhat spoiled. :P
