New Senior Nats

Post by GM-crowfan65 » Mon Nov 10, 2025 4:22 am

With the temporary nature of code changes, will we transform Nats into the new league format, etc, there is an inherent concern that errors may occur. Also, if I have an emergency, having someone else aware of what is required or if something goes wrong. We have contingencies but nothing is foolproof.
So my suggestion is to have Seniors as one league of 18 teams, with three tours of 5, 6, and 6 games.
Yes, nine teams will get home games; they can be random or given to the highest-ranked teams as a reward.

The change would start as soon as we can make it work, as soon as S64 perhaps.

Thoughts?

Are you suggesting a different format between youth and senior nats? Not a fan of that.

Only until the new nations catch up, 5-7 seasons of keeping an eye on the code is not ideal
We may get it to work, but there are some complexities that can be avoided by making the change.

I'd go for that.
Getting rid of the 3 division barrier will even things a bit more everyone.
South Africa U19 Manager seasons 38-41
SA Senior Manager seasons 59-62
Boscorp Cross season 14 - current
Boscorp Abroad season 61 - current

Why 5, 6 and 6 games?

How does the home teams work - ie who gets them?

Who chooses the pitches?

When do the pitches get set (pre or post squad selection)?

Supportive in general but I think we need more info.

Sorry, I assume people would know it is based on a similar structure to the new youths

It is 5, 6, and 6, because with 18 teams, it needs 17 games in total.
Five in the middle tour one season and six games tour 1 and 3 the following season, followed by the WC.
Nine teams will have nine home games, and the others will have 8. In any given tour, no one will have more than three home games.
Pitches will be selected prior to squad selection.

There shouldn't be any problems or errors, though many continue to exist, seems very straightforward.

Reverse the home and away fixtures for OD and T20, and for each 2 season period.

There are fixtures where the last competitive match has been in 2023.
