first of two games this week against Sledgingshire who appear to have built a very handy home grown side which is always impressive. Lost the toss on humid/hard (didn't particularly want a hard pitch but forgot to change it in time  ), and having a bat.

211/3 in our 20, very pleased with that. Dann with an excellent 89, but Edouard eclipsed him with a slightly better 90. Still chaseable on a hard pitch, but will definitely take it!

Crumbling pitch and we were made to bat first. It started off great in the first 5 overs.

K. Funke (rfm) 3-1-18-1, T. Liberatore 6 (6b), E. McCall 27 (17b)
End of over 5 (10 runs) - Ruff Royals(39-1) RR 7.80

Not so great in the last 15.

C. Coomaraswamy (lm) 4-0-27-2, C. Moses 0 (0b), M. Roberson 9 (13b)
End of over 20 (3 runs) - Ruff Royals(106-9) RR 5.30

We're now struggling with the ball.

M. Roberson (lf) 3-0-16-0, J. Koch 20 (17b), D. Hodgeman 15 (19b)
End of over 6 (6 runs) - Gavs Boys(35-0). 72 runs required from 14 overs. RR 5.83 RRR 5.14

well, an absolutely dreadful bowling performance, lost by eight wickets. Fair play to the opps batsmen, but no way should we be losing that game from the position we were in. Just a truly terrible effort with the ball, none of them come out with any credit whatsoever. Going to be a long hard season in both senior formats, just hope we can at least be competitive. conceding 134/1 in 8.4 overs at the end ... just beyond disgraceful performance. Should be an option in this game to fine players a weeks wages lol. One of the worst bowling performances I've ever seen.

Gavs Boys won by 4 wickets

Disappointing that we collapsed as much as we did but I guess they would have said the same if they hadn't won it off the last ball. Having fully rested players could have made all the difference; I'm kicking myself for that.

So I started the season by being 4 minutes late on setting my team for the MKMC so that's not helped fatigue! At least the league season got off to a good start.

Ruff Royals won by 23 runs

Egham Town CC Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 6,362 7,407
Batting - Middle Order 6,666 6,460
Batting - Tail 3,845 3,902
Bowling - Seam 7,000 (8) 8,473 (8)
Bowling - Spin 7,848 (12) 8,457 (12)
Fielding/Keeping 8,898 9,393
Overall 127,888 137,672

Dickerson (40) and House (38) saw us start well against Egham Town on a slow pitch but then we scored less than 20 in the last 5 overs to leave them a very chaseable 119 to win.

Thankfully, the bowlers did a good job. Westerveld (3-11) was the best of the bunch but Bardoliya (2-17) also performed on his debut which will also be his last in the YT20 game.
Good job spark! I was a little disappointed my batsmen didn't put up a better showing, but you had the stronger outfit so not too hard done by there

My seniors had a baptism of fire for our first ever Div 1 game:

Inchigeela Angels Egham Town CC
Batting - Top Order 14,183 13,058
Batting - Middle Order 13,009 9,761
Batting - Tail 5,550 4,492
Bowling - Seam 13,722 (20) 12,888 (20)
Bowling - Spin 0 (0) 0 (0)
Fielding/Keeping 16,634 15,989
Overall 243,936 217,163
Inchigeela Angels won by 56 runs

Perhaps no big surprise losing to the #1 ranked side in the country with a $422k seniors wage bill (mine is $252k). Hope that with my young and improving squad plus a bit of fatigue/rotation for others we may be able to sneak a couple of wins - otherwise could be a long season!

It turned out quite well. The main disappointment was that Bullock didn't get his century and was out for 95. Gilbert got 49 not out and Bardoliya in his one and only YOD game for us hit 34 not out.

A comprehensive win. We won't be rating that high next week with batter House and bowler Bardoliya moving up to the senior squad. Westerveld ended up with the best figures of 4-10 although that was finishing off the innings and Gardiner was probably our best bowler with 3-33.
