C. Rush (lm) 3-0-9-2, P. Musalia 5 (10b), J. Pokrovsky 1 (2b)
End of over 5 (2 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(16-4). 56 runs required from 15 overs. RR 3.20 RRR 3.73

The game still isn't fooling me into thinking we've got a chance. It looks like I'm going to be right:

J. Westerveld (rfs) 1-0-6-0, J. Pokrovsky 6 (10b), P. Musalia 20 (21b)
End of over 8 (6 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(37-4). 35 runs required from 12 overs. RR 4.62 RRR 2.92

R. Schneider (rm) 3-0-18-1, P. Musalia 21 (28b), I. Mureithi 4 (4b)
End of over 12 (5 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(54-6). 18 runs required from 8 overs. RR 4.50 RRR 2.25

I still not being fooled; we're never going to get another 4 wickets before they get these 18 runs.

I can't complain about our bowlers but the batters were abysmal.

Wow, very surprised to win today, just wanted to make sure we hit the 180K threshold for sponsorship which we managed to do quite comfortably. Richards was superb with the bat with an unbeaten 76 (58), and Blinkhorn stood out with the ball, ending with figures of 3.1 - 0 - 19 - 5. Very pleasing to be able to play two youth bats and two 21 yo spinners and still get the win. Fatigue still not great but at least we've managed to give some of our key players a rest ahead of a crucial OD game against Spark's boys on Friday.

Five teams on sixteen points while the sixth placed team is on twelve points, it's going to be a real fight for promotion and prize money this season.

This was a tough game on a slow pitch. We were put in to bat first and we kept losing wickets on a regular basis. Most of the batters got in but then got out. Huge credit must go to our top scorer and allrounder Harrison, who stuck in to get 42 not out from 40 balls, and Fattah, who really got things motoring with 34 from 20 balls.

Our fielders were on top form with 4 runouts as their batters struggled to cope with the run rate pressure. Thribhuvana enjoyed his debut with 2 wickets for 6 runs at the very end.

That win puts us top albeit only on net run rate. It was nice for Schwartz to finish his youth career with a win although he would have liked a few more runs.

Home South London's Number One CC
Away Ruff Royals
Ground South London's Number One CC CG
League One Day 1.1
Date 21 Jul 23 10:00
Crowd 18,688
Weather Humid
Pitch Sticky

A big game today. I've taken a gamble with picking a youngish lf over a far better rfs. We lost the toss so were made to bowl; I would have batted first too.

M. Roberson (lf) 2-0-6-1, W. Zaha 1 (2b), D. Van den Bergh 3 (9b)
End of over 3 (5 runs) - South London's Number One CC(14-1) RR 4.67

First wicket is nice but we need a lot more. I don't really want to be chasing any more than 150 but preferably less than 120.

Schneider is doing great with 3 wickets so far but Zaha is the key wicket (as I believe he has put in some good performances recently).

R. Schneider (rm) 4-1-9-3, W. Zaha 11 (28b), C. Kouyate 0 (1b)
End of over 12 (maiden) - South London's Number One CC(34-4) RR 2.83

J. Westerveld (rfs) 2-0-6-1, M. Olise 4 (8b), C. Kouyate 5 (16b)
End of over 17 (3 runs) - South London's Number One CC(47-5) RR 2.76

I think it might have been better not to play my lf Combs now as Massey might have done well enough in this situation.

Edit: D. Combs (lf) 2-1-5-0, M. Olise 4 (11b), S. Blinkhorn 0 (2b)
End of over 18 (1 run) - South London's Number One CC(48-6) RR 2.67

Not exactly a wicket from Combs but a run out and a tight over. SLNO will surely be furious with that run out.

was always expecting relegation this season, at least it's confirmed after today and we can start planning for season 56. Dann has been absolute rubbish throughout his career, considering he's been WC summary legendary exp for at least the last 3 seasons, an average of under 30 is a joke. Got some decent talent in the team, but needed the senior players to step up and they haven't at all. that being said two mediums taking combined figures so far of 11-2-22-6 is a total pisstake as well. Could understand if a nat fastie like Robertson rolled us over, but two relatively average mediums ... meh. Oh well!

Not sure I'd quite call Rush a relatively average medium with him being a world class summary bowler but it was certainly a surprise that Schneider did so well. Rush has been class for me and averages under 20 for me after 45 SOD matches and has, at least partially, changed the way I see mediums.

I can certainly understand your frustration though as I'd have been pretty annoyed if we had got all out for 68. As regards to Dann, I've had several players like that (arguably I've got 2 or 3 in my current team such as Whitehead.) I've never quite figured out why certain batters just don't seem to perform no matter what you do despite them supposedly looking good in terms of skills.

C. Gallagher (lfm) 2-0-5-1, M. Schmidt 1 (3b), J. House 4 (5b)
End of over 4 (4 runs) - Ruff Royals(10-2). 59 runs required from 46 overs. RR 2.50 RRR 1.28

I know I shouldn't worry but I also know how well we've been batting the last couple of seasons.

Ruff Royals won by 4 wickets

South London's Number One CC Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 13,757 13,762
Batting - Middle Order 11,188 11,913

Fielding/Keeping 16,702 17,453
Overall 234,519 234,385

Panic over after our batting made hard work of scoring 69 to win. We're no longer in the relegation zone ( or won't be when the table updates); it's still going to be a real battle to stay up.

Our allrounders really showed up with the bat. Bennett made a steady 44 not out from 42 balls whilst Delap made a rapid 75 from 43 balls. That meant we chased down 132 to win with more than 3 overs to spare.
