Re: [IDEA] TALENT REWORK
If making different levels of talents, I would make it lower than 5. It will just get messy. And people will probably max it out or not bother anyway.
2 levels (basic and advanced) would probably work best. 3 at the absolute most.
Every player having one net zero talent or trait or personality or whatever you want to call it as well would be good. These would be neither good or day with positives and negatives balancing out.

Re: [IDEA] TALENT REWORK
Two levels of talents would allow "minor" talents. That are not as effective but do add some diversity.
Some more ideas
- middle order bat (better in middle overs)
- athlete (better at fielding checks)
- good runner (less involved in runouts)
- autodidact (slight increase to untrained skills)
- silver fox (smaller skill decreases after 30)
And may I suggest introducing outfield conditions because that would allow more diversity for batsmen and fielders. But would also have an effect on bowlers run rates

I also would like the ability to visually hide useless talents but thatโs definitely not a priority.

I see the Late Bloomer talent mentioned - it doesn't line up with the name, but ideally I'd like to see that talent active for players in the 21-25 age bracket if implemented. That way, they're not just sitting in your senior squad twiddling their thumbs because they won't be good enough to warrant selection until they're in their mid to late 20s.

I agree, much more useful in the early ages of seniors that later. Training is practicably irrelevant at 28+.UtopiaRay wrote: โWed Oct 29, 2025 2:28 amI see the Late Bloomer talent mentioned - it doesn't line up with the name, but ideally I'd like to see that talent active for players in the 21-25 age bracket if implemented. If it is to mirror prodigy in youths, a higher % is required (25%+) or a longer period such as 6 seasons from 21-26.
Aren't talents already trainable in a way? It is a % (10%?) so is more useful at the higher skill levels.
Any trainable talents 'born' at recruitment surely would be trained in seniors, too much skill would be lost at youths.
I don't think you should be able to add new talents after recruitment, then it isn't a talent, but a trait.
More talents would reduce flexibility, if the majority of players had a useful one.

Re: [IDEA] TALENT REWORK
I think the idea is that the trainable talent would train the rate at which the talent boosts the players skills? So the opener boost would be 2x greater for a level 2 โopenerโ.
I like the idea of learnable traits but I would rather them be accomplished by game play rather than at the cost of skill training. Ie the lad thrown in to open the batting earns the opener trait after 100 matches opening etc. Not sure if it would work or is possible but just a thought.

In the same way develops a negative trait by not batting in the middle order or end of an innings?MrMoose wrote: โWed Oct 29, 2025 9:54 pmI like the idea of learnable traits but I would rather them be accomplished by game play rather than at the cost of skill training. All teams will develop these traits.

Re: [IDEA] TALENT REWORK
Thatโs true in reality though right? Like most teams would have players who prefer opening vs batting at 5, etc.
Another idea is hidden traits. Players have Opener/Finisher etc but itโs not visible until they play x amount of games in that scenario.

Re: [IDEA] TALENT REWORK
I know it's been suggested previously but conditional passive talents would be good if possible.
i.e. a talent that gives a player a small boost based on the format/weather/pitch type/Home Vs Away/etc.
Battler who loves the heat, Kite who loves windy days, etc.

I had this thought too but I think that boundary hitter and accumulator both would cover it
