- Take nothing away from Pakistan, they put us to the sword,

- But even with out superior fielding match rating, we were poor in the field.

- A lack of wicket taking chances, and an opening all rounder strategically placed, meant Pakistan dominated throughout

- We struggled in reply,

- 4 out of the top 5 batsmen failing, leading to us having to limp to the halfway mark,

- We hit out at the end, but it was too little too late and we ended up well short.

Pakistan U20 won by 33 runs

Them stepping up in match rating quality whilst we fell back really showed.

With only 5 changes from the last T20 tour and 8 players who took part in the first one day tour,

We’ve kept the core together, building nicely for the World Cup.

However, with:
- Above average form compared to the group
- Above average player talent compared to the group
- Unlucky pitch split
- Poor bowling type selection by myself with hindsight

They’ll cancel out to mean probably final day chaos, once again!

We’ll be praying for any weather other than windy or hot…

- We decided to put SA into bat, as we knew we’d out ratings them, and so we wanted to test them by asking them to set the standard.

- Their batsmen performed terrifically, not giving our bowling unit a chance, We passed 12 fielding chances but disappointingly failed 9.

- Our opening aggressive orders failed to get a wicket, with 2 of our 4 wickets coming in the last 2 overs, showing how difficult it was to get anything out of the slow pitch.

- The lack of wickets also meant they could finish off the 50 in style, giving us a big chase to win

- Our openers started slowly, but survived the opening spell. Pushing on to put on a 117 partnership for the first wicket gave us a great base.

- Each batsmen contributing was really pleasing to see. As they also succeeded in 12 fielding chances, but missed 14, which proved decisive.

- Our MOTM Llewelyn scoring a run a ball 67 fit perfectly with what was needed, surviving a scare on 9, to drive us home.

- Mujuru will feel hard done by scoring a run a ball 76 and taking a catch, as that opening partnership with Mabuya was quality to see!

Satisfying win, as triggers going the other way could have thrown some spanners into the works.

But fortunately we got rewarded for picking a stong squad, whilst resting some key batsmen for tomorrow.

- Kenya putting a 156 run opening stand gave them a terrific platform to push on!

- Zim missing 3 wicket opportunities in the field, despite the strong fielding ratings, hinted that potentially today wasn’t our day

- From 203-4 (Flattered by back to back wickets later on) Kenya powered 90 runs off the last 10 overs. Leaving our batsmen with another huge task at hand


Zimbabwe U20 - (294-3) RR 6.26 – 47 overs – T. Wilson (122) A. Misson (66), J. arap Chesire (lfs) 10-0-40-2 J. arap Rono (rws) 10-0-57-0

- But up steps our batting unit! Nobody failed, as we managed to match, then edge ahead of where Kenya were at drinks, runs wise.

- Our Man of the Match T. Wilson was magnificent leading from the front, scoring 122 at 105 strike rate, to allow us to keep parity throughout, keeping the run rate at 6 an over right up until the 40th over.

- But credit for the whole batting unit for supporting and contributing. Earning Zimbabwe a ridiculous win on an uneven pitch, one of those strange but magical FTP games!

172K match ratings, with 2 all rounders, but no spinners proved decisive.

Whilst the fielding performance was worryingly bad alongside ordinary bowling, that batting display will go down as one of the performances of all time!

2 spinners for Kenya performed the best, making the chase even more surprising!

Top of the league clash tomorrow, as we sit undefeated, top of the pops!

- Although our openers struggled to score runs, they did do there job perfectly of seeing off the new ball and NBB talented bowler.

- The next 3 partnerships after the first wicket fell scored just 14 runs off 27 balls, taking us from 1-45 to 4-59 swifty hitting us into survival mode. Accomplished & Reliable form players failing was really disappointing to see.

- Our bowlers did well to push our total up to 168, but the extra deliveries faced might have added too much fatigue

West Indies U20 - (169-8) - RR 3.84 – 43.4 overs – L. Blades (42) S. Nedica (30), P. Banda (rm) 7-2-16-0 S. Bowley (rm) 10-1-30-2

- We tried to be aggressive out the gate, which backfired and ultimately proved costly.

- We knew we had to get 10 wickets and despite a late flourish, we do suffer our first defeat of the tour.

- Our 1k Fielding advantage hardly was felt.

- Wakkie Claassen being our motm thanks to a valiant 27 and wicket with the ball

West Indies U20 won by 2 wickets

- Losing the toss was a gut punch in these day 4 conditions,

- However, when we were fielding well restricting them to 58/3 after 15 overs, there was real optimism that a couple more wickets exposed the tail before drinks.

- 193 runs off 207 balls, 2 failed triggers later, that was just a dream! Terrific batting not giving us a chance ensured a strong total

Zimbabwe U20 - (233-10). - RR 4.66 - 50 Overs – T. Wilson (55) G. Llewellyn (50), E. Ganga (rm) 10-0-45-5 S. Williams (lm) 10-1-36-2

- We started really brightly, matching them earlier on before actually getting ahead of them towards drinks!

- At the 30 overs mark, being 29 runs ahead with the same amount of wickets, we knew we had to bat well towards the end

- Unfortunately we slowly collapsed, 4 wickets for 17 runs and although the final wicket put on a mini cameo, we lose back to back games, putting our div 2 status at risk

Our MOTM Glenn Llewellyn made a blistering half century off 45 balls, but losing his wicket was crushing, as it marked the beginning of the end for our comeback

Bermuda U20 won by 26 runs

I called it in the tour preview, but only taking one spinner / lack of bowling wickets is really hurting us.

We are in a relegation showdown against Scotland, who have some tired high waged players, but day 5 pitches can spring weird results, we’ll give it our all!

We’ve been handed the group of death.

- Australia’s wages say it all, guaranteeing them top spot.
- Then the second qualification spot will be a battle between teams who hover around D1 often in UAE, Bangladesh & Canada.
- South Africa's rating will bounce between the 160’s and the 140’s but somehow still be competitive, because this game doesn’t punish poor players as much as I think it should.

We have world class batmen, keepers & all rounders, but our bowling attack has been below par since the first One day Div 1 tour of this season, which maybe too much to overcome.

I’ll step back from manager provided someone can step up at the election.

I’m gutted how the last 2 tours went, T20 not promoting by 0.07 NRR, despite game 5 playing Ireland with guys playing 5 games in a row, us rating 15.5k higher then them, the result going down to the last ball was a joke.

Then this last one day tour seeing South Africa acting the way they do, yet being rewarded for it.
Teams way below the standard succeed, when it should happen once in a blue moon, it seems to happen once a season/Tour.

Causing us to relegate by 0.06 NRR wasn’t funny, looks terrible for the game, especially when fielding was our downfall for the last 3 games, despite outrating our opposition by 600 -1000 fielding rating points.

I’m tired. I’ll offer to help assist the new manager, getting them up to speed. Perhaps help manage the pokemon kids,

So that in 2 seasons either the manager will deserve another 2 seasons, or I can nominate to step back up to manager, when the new nat format + 2 new nations are added.
