Disappointing game for us. Maybe should have batted first but that could have gone wrong too.
Roberson and Hodges have been a bit rubbish this season so far and need to pick up more wickets. Most of my bats have been rubbish too but that is the same as normal.

The result doesn't really help much. We needed 7 from the last over with 4 wickets remaining so it very much feels like a loss.
The bowling was okay on a dry pitch although it was bit mixed in that a couple did well, a couple did badly, and another took wickets but wasn't that economical. House did well with the bat for his 43 and Schmidt was great for his 75 not out from 51 balls.

A tale of two 20.14's - my exp/exp bowl/tech being karted around for nearly 11 per over. Your $7.5k wage batsman hitting 75 from 51 balls...hope that means we'll be in a better position when we see you later in the season

That batter is the only player I'm going to lose this season so my side should still be quite similar. That said, my team might already be practically relegated by then so I might decide to play some even younger youngsters! I'm not having a great season so far and I'm struggling to pick up wins in all formats!montyh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 12:50 pmYep - I feel the opposite - lucky to not have lost with one over to go.spark wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 12:33 pmRuff Royals Egham Town CC

Re: England League and Cup Discussion
R. Aitchison (rfs) 3.5-0-12-7, C. Moses 0 (1b)
End of over 19 (8 runs) - Ruff Royals(138-10) RR 7.26
Dry pitch. So my seam specialist who opens, McCall, was put on attacking as he's one of my lower powered batsmen and I wanted him to get a few quick runs before he inevitably got out. I was then expecting my more experienced and high powered batters to stick around and score relatively quickly. McCall ends up being last man out for 93 off 61 balls. Sadly for me, the next best batsman is the other player that opened and scored 22. The rest of the team combine to get 19 runs!
I was unaware that I had accidentally picked the England test match team to play (obviously I'm not including McCall in that).
Their rfs, Aitchison, did quite well and picked up 7-12. My rfs spinner went for 14 runs in his first over and my rws went for 14 runs in his second over.
C. Moses (rws) 2-0-16-0, M. Gazali 4 (7b), R. Wyett 30 (27b)
End of over 9 (14 runs) - Ffoh(51-3). 88 runs required from 11 overs. RR 5.67 RRR 8.00

It seems like nothing is going to go my way this season. Their spinners outperformed mine, in both wickets and economy, despite mine being better (judging by the ratings).
At least McCall played well.

First senior league win of the season, at the 5th time of asking... Batting line up were uncharacteristically competent in setting 137 on an overcast/crumbling.

lost by 7 wickets. Thought our fielding rating looked surprisingly poor, then realized I'd selected our world class keeper, reasonable captain as captain and our ordinry keeper, oustanding captain as keeper ... ah well silly mistake to make, without doubt cost us the win today. One of those things just have to laugh about it and move on.

If I had any confidence in my batters, I'd be okay with this. Slightly more than 4 an over is certainly something my batsmen can mess up!
