Crazy finish to my youth game today...
End of over 39 (6 runs) - CPS Vandals(237-6). 13 runs required from 1 overs. RR 6.08 RRR 13.00
S. Rai 9 (6b), J. Quinones 25 (21b), C. Greaves (rf) 8-0-45-1
39.16Merry to Quinones : That's poor bowling from Merry, a juicy leg stump half volley is dispatched over square leg for six by Quinones.
39.22Merry to Quinones : A fantastic stroke by Quinones. He caresses the ball through the slips and will pick up a couple for his effort.
39.32Merry to Quinones : [misfield] Hit with power by Quinones, a mistake by Griffiths, and a single becomes two. Green is fuming.
39.4WMerry to Quinones : [catch] There's a noise as that goes through to Green and Merry turns and appeals. Glove? Bat? Quinones's arthritic wrists playing up? Doesn't matter, umpire says it's out.J. Quinones c W. Green b. D. Merry 35 (25b 1x4 1x6) SR:140.00
39.5WMerry to Carrick : [runout] Caught ball-watching, slow to respond to his partner's call, run out by a metre. Dreadful running by Carrick.A. Carrick run out (O. George) 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00
39.61 WMerry to Haas : [runout] Oh no! Rai's slipped over going for a second run and Green has time to adjust his shirt and tie up his shoelace before taking off the bails.S. Rai run out (O. George) 9 (6b 1x4 0x6) SR:150.00
End of over 40 (11 runs) - CPS Vandals(248-9). 2 runs required from 0 overs. RR 6.20 RRR 0.00
H. Heath 0 (0b), B. Haas 1 (1b), D. Merry (rm) 8-0-55-2
C. Greaves, D. Griffiths are tired.
The Art of Waugh won by 1 run
Sigh.

Oof, glad I didn't have to experience the emotional highs and lows of that one! Rai needs to invest in some longer studs .... and beers for the team

Re: League Chat
Attn: The "New Zealand Tournaments" will continue in the new season (54). In season 54, YOD & ST20 will be played. Midweek this time as it should have been though (my mistake)
. Sadly, business had me away so more were not created this season as planned, nor was I even able to do the finishing touches to the ones that did run (apologies). I am posting this here, and on Discord, as I see my original thread was binned. Thank you for the ones who noticed and let me know of this
Unless I am told otherwise, the news for the tournaments will be noted in this thread.
For any veterans of the New Zealand leagues out there, I would greatly like your input and would love to fill any requests for tournaments for NZ that you would like. With that being said, I will state what I have planned for now and what resources I (we) have to run tournaments.
Planned
As mentioned, in season 54, YOD & ST20 will be played. YOD will be first and be played mid week. Then, I plan for the Senior T20s to start near round 3 of the YOD tournaments but on another day. Will prevent clashes with the MKs tournament this time
.
Season 55, all that is planned is Youth T20 for now. If no suggestions, I am going to just repeat the cycle and end with a "NZ open".
As before, each tournament series will feature a 2nd DIV, 3rd DIV, and a 4th & 5th DIV tournament open to all that play in NZ by private invitation.
At the latest, one week before tournament acceptance deadline all NZ managers will have invitations to their affiliates sent out accordingly unless team would have to play against their main (or vice versa).
I will also attempt to make each tournament as large as possible. That means some teams my not be entered due to the cull that happens. Do wish there could be "byes".
Resources
At this time I have enough credits to run at least 5 full friendly tournaments. To note: All of the ones planned at best will cost a fraction of just one full tournament.
My goal: Ideally, I would like all these credits to be used by Season 56 or during that season if need be, but I want the tournaments to be used for teams in NZ.
There are holders of "shields and cups" in NZ as we know. Would you honorable folk who play for these in the highest tier want a few tournaments around those to shake things up? Things like that? Anything, just let me know. I am all ears and open to whatever. Obviously, the tournaments were started to give newer players some fun and for the non-members to maybe win a bit of a membership. But, the stalwarts of the league deserve something too I believe. Especially, when the tournaments cost so little to run and could add so much to your tier.
And, I should state, leagues are an option too. "Last seasons 3rd DIV winners", and things like that, are things I have thought of.
Thank you for all who have taken part thus far!

Can't say I'm in any way a veteran, but wanted to thank you for organising these
Is there a NZ-specific discord? I didn't see your message in the channels I am on by default (but I might have missed it)

Re: League Chat
You are welcome! I never have had, and don't want, an affiliate team so I thought this would be the best use for all the game credits I have accumulated. Adds some flavor to our league too I think

I am not aware of a NZ-specific Discord, but I posted the message on the regular FTP Discord in the Friendlies and General threads there after I was told the thread I made here (but under Friendly competitions) was removed. I can't even find these posts on Discord anymore, so I imagine nobody seen them

Being I am on the subject, when the time comes for notifications of the upcoming tournaments there will be one notice of it on Discord (under General) and that will be the last one regarding these tournaments on there. I would rather keep it in here. More "official" that way and open to all who play FTP.
I would have liked to keep my thread to keep things organized and for complete transparency of the tournaments, but I guess that is not an option for me. If at some time, more "interesting" tournaments or leagues are wanted and asked for by NZ managers, I will just make a Wordpress website for organization or something like that. Or, just post it in here from time-to-time. We will just have to see what the future holds I guess!

Not really, its basically what you see here, Discord or the Nat management forums. For general discussion just go to Discord

At least the result was meaningless for both of you. Just RR pressure in the end got you in an absurd way
